I've come here on two occasions and overall had a very good time. Rebecca was my waitress both times, and she was a good amount of attentive and enthusiastic about what we ordered. Some of the best things that we have ordered include the ceviche - I know, weird! - and the burgers. I really liked my Black and Blue, and the Chuck Norris, while messy, was tasty. Unfortunately, while the shrimp and grits were very good, they were definitely too salty. That goes for the mussels, too. Lastly, the flat breads were very enticing, but the one with ricotta had way too much ricotta on it. Nonetheless, I like the combinations. The beer selection differs week to week. The first time I came, there were so many IPAs and stouts I wanted to try, that I went for a flight for $10. The most recent time I came, though, I had seen most of the beers and other menus in the area, and there weren't many that were very exciting to me. While visiting Wallingford today, some friends and I decided to stop in for a bite. The restaurant was very posh and clean inside. Due to COVID we sat in the patio area. The waiter seemed distant at first. We sat down and he brought us over some menus. We placed our orders . I started to order some wings then when I questioned him on whether or not it came with ranch or bleu cheese he seemed puzzled. He stated that "he didn't think that they had bleu cheese or ranch". Which was interesting because the menu offered several salads. Nonetheless I decided to order fries which was a great decision . As the fries came with four delicious sauces . So happy we stopped in! Came in as a party of 3 before a show and decided to just order a bunch of apps/small plates to share and everything was SO GOOD. The fritters are a must try for sure! The Mac and cheese, steak egg rolls, and tacos all were delicious as well. Have been wanting to try this place that now occupies the space where the Old Dublin used to be. The restaurant inside is cozy. The food we had was really good. We started with the Roasted Corn and Jalapeno Hushpuppies with the honey bitter dipping sauce. Not overly spicy which suited my taste. Not heavy or greasy at all and made with real corn. I had their special salad , Quinoa and Arugula salad with a whole grain honey mustard dressing. I added grilled shrimp to it. The salad had endive in it and sliced pears with goat cheese. It was very good. The grilled shrimp seemed a bit chewy to me. My husband had another special the park carintas tacos. He really enjoyed them. They were well done with fresh ingredients. We haven't been to tap and vine for months. We ended up here because wanted to sit somewhere outside on a nice fall day with heaters. It was a Friday, so we started our evening with some drinks . (My husband loves the beer selection, and they make out of this world cocktails. ) To our surprise they changed up their menu. The specials menu look very tantalizing. So we started our evening with the loaded potato soup. The was very good. There were so many flavors all in one bite. Then, I ordered the shrimp tacos and my husband ordered the duck special. Both meals were very tasty. The spices in the tacos were on point but they ended with a little sweet, and the duck was very tender and tasty. I would definitely order these specials again. Stopped at Tap and Vine after some really bad experiences with bars tonight. Upon entry, LOVE the feel of the atmosphere and nice selection of beers on tap. Was undecided on which IPA to have and bartender immediately brought me samples of his choices and offered his thoughts. Really great attention to the customer and wanting to be sure everything is enjoyed. Food was ordered by some friends and the steak tips and beef short ribs were placed. Short ribs came out with a huge portion over grits with scallion. They were very good, but sightly tough and not fall apart and tender as would expect. Steak tips were cooked perfectly and really good, with a tasty dipping sauce. Overall, really good food, but even better service and drinks. Went out with a large group of friends and fam. Erin, our waitress, took great care of us! Excellent beer selection here for the beer fans out there. I enjoyed a Mean Old Tom along with the PEI mussels for an app, and the Short Rib, potato flatbread. Delicious! My husband had the Korean BBQ wings, (awesome!) and the chicken sandwich for dinner. Small menu, but if the things you have you do well, and are freshly prepared... then that is NEVER a problem with me! I'm so happy I stumbled upon this place when looking for a place to go for dinner and drinks!!! First thing to note is how friendly the staff is. We were seated immediately and our waitress was very attentive and good at giving recommendations. A man who I believe is the owner also stopped by to ask how everything was after we finished our meal. The drink menu is great and there are plenty of options for whatever drink you like. I had the blood orange cider which I had never seen before and was delicious! The prices on everything are extremely reasonable, you also get a serious amount of food! Mac and cheese appetizer was delicious, could have been an entree on its own. The steak and cheese egg rolls were amazing, and HUGE! I could probably have one for lunch and be full, and the steak was cooked perfectly. The mussels were also really good, and came with delicious buttery toast for dipping in the sauce. The black and blue burger was amazing, easily on par with any fancy burger bar in the area. My friends and I always like to try new places. As Tap & Vine was a midpoint area for us, we decided to give it a try. Boy, were we not disappointed at all. I'll start with food, we ordered buffalo wings first. The were crunchy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. Not too spicy for my liking so it was perfect! Then we ordered the white sauce mussels and Shrimp & Bacon flatbread. Wow! This is not your typical flatbread, you actually get all your toppings and not just flour. The shrimp was fresh, big, and cooked to perfection. We had to order this TWICE! My friends ordered drinks, double ipa and snowflake martini (can't remember the exact names). They really enjoyed it. I wanted to like this place. I heard about the struggles to get employees due to covid and I had high hopes. I live 5 minutes away and figured it would be a great place to get a drink. The place is nice looking and the hostess was great. Our waitress was terrible from the start. We picked 2 different drinks off the specials menu and both drinks were the worst we ever tried. When you each only take 1 sip and leave a full drink the waitress should get the hint and ask about that but not our waitress she just disappeared after taking our order and never returned until it was tip time. The appetizer (zucchini frys) were great. My burger was not even edible and I left it missing 1 bite and was not asked by anyone why. My wife's was just as bad. I had to call over the hostess to get our check so we could go down the road to order food and real drinks at another place. I did pay $75 for the fries basically. Any good waitress/hostess/owner should have noticed the lack of eating and drinking and asked why but not here and that's the reason for the long review. read more

Had a very good dinner here recently, arriving almost directly off the plane and starving. We were hoping for a better wine selection. We recognized most of the selections, including the nice (but pricey) bottle of Carnivore cabernet. A glass of 7 Deadly Zins was ok, as expected; and so we opted to focus on their beer selection. The beer was unexpectedly good. Started with a Grapefruit IPA which was very good, and then we opted for a sampler flight with a sour, IPA, stout and porter. My favorite was the stout... it wasn't as bold or dark as I usually like stouts, but it was solid. The specifics are beers are shown in the photo; the porter was sweeter than expected, but the whole flight was good. We kept ordering food, much to the surprise of our waitress. The place was nearly full when we arrived, but almost empty when we left... so likely a small local crowd for a mid-week dinner. The service was excellent and we liked the atmosphere. We had a daily special watermelon and arugula salad, which was very good, a shrimp/bacon flatbread (again very good), some pork tacos (not our favorites) and some excellent steamed mussels. The mussel broth was the star of the dinner, and we asked for more bread to soak it up. For dessert we had a good chocolate mouse cake, and some excellent cheesecake eggrolls. I wasn't sure about ordering these, but they were the best of the two desserts, with the wonton wrapper adding a perfect texture to the cheesecake interior. read more

I want to give more stars but I'm not thoroughly impressed by the food. The choices are great and the options seem amazing but the food is not prepared to my personal liking. Today it was the steak and cheese on a roll. There were onions mushrooms and definitely salt, but no sauce at all. The French fries have so much seasoning and pepper on them I was completely taken back. The fries were cooked nicely and same with the sandwich but the prep truly ruined it. The last time I visited I had the Brussels sprouts which I order most places that offer it. They were over cooked, and over prepped with too much of all the flavors on it. Don't get me wrong I like a good crisp and flavor but this was overkill on the sauce/season and a bit over cooked. ****I appreciate the kind gesture of refunding. I wasn't looking for that but I felt like you would want to know what had happened. I will return, as I have always, and this time I'll know to request light seasoning on the fries. It was the first time I had them. No, there was not any horseradish although that sounds delicious. I will say the meat also tasted very salty as well. I decided to get southern tier PumpKing. We ordered mussels as an appetizer. I'm not into seafood but I did dip the bread in the sauce which was really good. I also tried the Mac n cheese which has Andouille sausage in it. The Mac n cheese came in a pretty big helping and could be shared and was pretty cheesy. The also have flatbreads and burgers on the menu that looked great! There wasn't many people in the bar at that time but the bartender was nice and ended up talking to us about sports for a good portion. I keep forgetting to update my review, but I was here on Friday night chatting with Mike about how horrible some Yelp reviews are and realized I needed to update mine! I've returned a number of times and Tap&Vine has quickly become my favorite Wallingford hangout. Part of that is because it's still new and most people haven't ventured the one block outside of downtown to discover it, but mostly it's because of the atmosphere. The renovations in changing from the Old Dublin to Tap&Vine are impressive especially in the bar area with the comfy chairs and gorgeous bar. Mike keeps the beer list updated, fresh, and exciting, with some reliable pours and many that are rare or unheard of in the area. He quickly learns your preferences and can recommend the perfect drink for just about anyone. This menu is still one of the best menus in the area, in my opinion. It's short and sweet while offering a good variety. I usually stick with one of the flatbreads but I've had a number of the other items (or tried whatever my friends are ordering) and haven't had a disappointing bite yet. I'm excited that it's starting to get warm out so I can check out the patio soon. My opinion of sitting on the "dining" side hasn't changed; it's still loud and can be hard to hear the conversation at your own table if there are a lot of people in the bar, but honestly that is a small complaint and, if anything, reconfirms my decision to stay seated at the bar! read more

The menu is probably the most attractive part of Tap & Vine. You can opt for something healthy or sinful, depending on your mood. It's all tasty regardless. So it's a good place to meet up with friends with different diets or tastes. The wait staff seems overworked or many not good communication with kitchen? Or maybe kitchen is over worked and short staffed? Either way the wait is kind of a tad longer than it should be considering the amount of tables. One day it took us almost 2 hours for 4 people to have simple 5:30pm dinner (no apps or complex requests). It's a little crammed but there's a bit of outdoor seating. I really wish this restaurant were bigger with more parking. I think they'd be very successful with some changes as they grow. I'll definitely be back, and I have. I'll start by saying that I'm only giving four stars because they are not handicap accessible which really made it difficult for me. On another note, my boyfriend and I have ordered take out from here before & absolutely loved the food! We said if the food is that good as take out I wonder how great it will be cooked fresh? We ordered the general tso cauliflower which was roasted to perfection, t&p Brussel sprouts (we had this for take out as well which is why we ordered it again) just such a great mixture of sprouts, apples, bacon, walnuts & Gorgonzola that all melt in your mouth, lastly we ordered a "special" salad which was Belgian endive- it was made of a port wine blue cheese dressing with roasted red peppers, red onions & candied walnuts over a bed of Romaine. I think that was by far my favorite salad I've had! Well have to go back for entrees because we were stuffed!
