Philly Cheesesteak Fries Sweet & Hot Calamari

Came here as a suggestion from a family member. This pub , is very cool and accommodating for large gatherings. Dim lighting and lots of table and chairs for seating . We sat at a booth by the window . I enjoyed the food options, we had steak and cheese eggs rolls , fries . The calamari was a miss for us it had a chili sauce which made it soggy . Otherwise our drinks were good and did its job . Here's a few pictures.

It was a surreal experience coming here, not due to anything with the restaurant, more so with the fact that most guests were on their way their way to the DethKlok concert just like us... and the restaurant had a definite hipster vibe. Anyway we arrived around...I'd say maybe 4:30 or 5pm. Service was quite prompt as we arrived before the rush. We felt well taken care of...and were slightly distracted by one of the servers who looked shockingly like Kris Holden-Ried. We took our time and ordered waaaay too much food for 3 people, but totally worth it as everything was fantastic. We ordered: Crispy Fried Rice Cake (holy deliciousness) Short Rib Birria Tacos (how do you make drool emoji show up in a review??) Steak Skewers (so well cooked) Saffron Arancini (was a special and takes yummy, but I was the only one to like them) Tap&Vine Burger (no idea on taste as my guy decided to inhale this and not try the small plates or share) Overall an awesome meal, and if we actually lived in the area, I'm sure we'd be back!!

Years later Tap and Vine still delivers! This very cool and unique restaurant is about a six minute drive to the Toyota Wallingford Arena and is a hidden gem of great service, delicious food and surprising convenience. It's a tapas bar with small plates but also has a very cool vibe, high quality food and excellent service. Definitely continues to be a five star recommendation for anyone looking for a pre-show dinner or snack.

I stumbled on this great restaurant during a business trip to New Haven. The restaurant was comfortable but refined. The staff was amazing, giving me tips to make the most of a fantastic restaurant. I enjoyed a couple Czech Pilsners from their extensive tap list (didn't have any wine, but I'd guess it's just as good). I had a heavy lunch so I chose some dishes that were a bit different from my usual dinner selections, I started with their pickled deviled eggs. The best 2 ways to have an egg combined! They did not disappoint. From there I selected a couple of their sharing plates, neither of which had any major proteins. Next time I go I'll definitely have some part of meat. In any event, their brussels sprouts are to die for, and would be great for a group of friends. My final food was the fried eggplant ribbons. They were sweet and savory. Menu set up perfect for getting together with friends, sharing food, drink, and company. Highly recommend!

I had a nice dinner at Tap & Vine. The flank steak with yuca fries hit the spot, I love fried yuca and like to order it when I can find it. The steak was a dense cut but the accompanying flavors worked well, even the cauliflower. They have an outstanding beer selection. Service is warm although I dined from the bar, I saw a lot of dates stop by during my visit. It is a good option in the area

I went to tap and Vine tonight with my friends for happy hour. Unfortunately they don't really have a happy hour. I went off their specials menu and had catfish tacos which were good. I wish I had come with a side of some kind of vegetable or salad. I like sitting outside on the patio and enjoying the evening.

Creative menu, delicious creations, fantastic service and a quaint pub-ish atmosphere are what you'll experience at Tap & Vine. It's our new favorite restaurant that we plan to visit often despite the 45 minute drive.

Between the warm, cozy atmosphere and a live band playing, it felt festive without being chaotic. It's exactly what you want during the holidays. We went full "let's share everything" mode, starting with the Wood-Fired Artichoke-Spinach Dip Pizzetta, and wow. Spinach, artichokes, béchamel, shaved parm, mozzarella, garlic dressing, and baby arugula all working together in perfect harmony. Easy 10/10. I'm still thinking about it and already planning my next visit just to order it again. Next up was the crab rangoon dip, which was rich, indulgent, and dangerously good. Followed by the beer cheese jumbo pretzel. They wee soft, salty, and exactly what you want alongside drinks. Zero regrets. We wrapped things up with the Kung Pao Cauliflower Bites, and they were such a pleasant surprise. The tempura cauliflower stayed crispy, the General Tso's-style sauce had just the right balance of sweet and heat, and the cashews, sesame seeds, and scallions added great texture. Drink-wise, we shared a bottle of wine from their solid selection, but I also have to shout out their massive cocktail menu, so many options that I'll definitely be back to explore it properly next time. The cherry on top? We made our reservation on Yelp . Between the food, drinks, live music, and overall atmosphere, Husk and Vine was a total win for a night out. Can't wait to return!

We came for the karaoke. The drinks were good and the bartender was friendly and attentive. The karaoke host ruined it for us. He was making a lot of songs into duets. We wanted to hear people sing. They use a website to request a song. My date and I had put a few in, but the host kept playing songs in between everyone else singing so we got called up only once. There wasn't a ton of singers, but half the night was just taken up by filler. Other places have food and good drinks, and karaoke that features the singers, not the host.

My go-to has always been the salad with seared scalping a raspberry dressing. No longer on the menu. However, we're always looking for different takes on a vegetarian burger, including Impossible and Beyond. We both were in the mood for a burger and they have the Impossible burger on the menu so we were in luck, or were we? Backup to the arrival. The main bar area was very busy and unfortunately no seats available. So, we were seated in the back which is a very nice and more formal and original part of the house. Totally empty we were seated in front of a fake (non-heat producing) fire, decent ambiance, but it was cold and silent in there. We don't mind the silent part but the temperature was not good. It took a long time before someone came back with menus and a greeting, but we knew what we wanted to order. Two Impossible burgers please. No such luck. "We don't have them anymore", we were told. "Revamping the menu. Don't worry, there will be plenty of vegetarian choices", we were told. How about tonight? We needed to take some time with the menu and there were very limited choices. I decided on the special, asparagus risotto with grilled salmon. My wife didn't really want anything on the menu but settled on the veggie flatbread. The risotto was quite good. The salmon was slightly overcooked but still very good. The three 1/4 stalks of asparagus were good, too, but they could've been a bit more generous with the veggie. The flatbread was a big disappointment. The menu says it is topped with artichokes, spinach, onions, red peppers and mushrooms. We nixed the mushrooms. You can see in the picture that there were no artichokes and no red peppers. There were a ton of tomatoes (not listed) and black olives, which would've been ok had it been for me, but my wife doesn't eat black olives. There were only 4 pieces of spinach. So, after removing them, there really wasn't much left to eat. She wasn't happy. I guess we should've done what the gentleman in the hidden dining room next to where we were seated did, order Chinese food to be delivered!

The hostess at the front desk seemed visibly annoyed when we checked in. She was impatient, dismissive with her gestures, and even rolled her eyes in front of us. I don't know if it was because we were a family with children or for some other reason, but it made us feel very unwelcome. Honestly, we were close to leaving. Our kids were hungry and tired, so we decided to stay and give the restaurant a chance. Thankfully, the gentleman who served our table completely changed the experience. He was friendly, professional, and patient. He took the time to explain the menu, answer our questions, and recommend some of the restaurant's popular dishes. His attitude made us feel welcomed and appreciated as guests. The food was very good. We enjoyed the seafood paella, grilled octopus, broccolini, cheese plate, and several other tapas. The flavors were great, and the dishes were well prepared. The kitchen and our server delivered a much better experience than the one we received at the front desk. Management should pay attention to how guests are greeted because first impressions matter. The hostess nearly convinced us to leave. The server convinced us to stay.

Within 5 minutes the first entrée arrives, 10 minutes before the drinks. One person has food; everyone else watches uncomfortably. Finally drinks arrive. Then the wait begins. Like the opening scene from "Casablanca" - "they wait, .... and wait,...and wait." Dishes arrive, one at a time, sporadically. They say the dishes arrive when they are ready. So here's an idea: organize the kitchen so that the food for a table is all ready at the same time. You know, like restaurants do. Maybe it works if everything is " for the table." Speaking of the tables: a table for four is too wide by 6 to 10 inches. Your dining companions are so far away that you cannot hear them - unless you shout, which may explain why the place is so loud you can't hear anyone at your table. To add to the raucous ambiance, our table was situated in front of the doors the wait staff used to access the outdoor dining. By "in front of," I mean maybe a foot or 14" from the back of the chairs to the door. Close enough that the waiters are squeezing between your chairs and the doors. All in all, a mediocre experience. To be fair, the food is very good, which is why it gets 3 stars. Except for the crispy calamari which was probably good when it was hot.
