Met a friend and fellow elite yelper here on Thursday evening for a drink, but ended up getting dinner since we were hungry and too lazy to go home afterward and make dinner... We'd been here once previously when it was the Old Dubliner and they definitely spiffed up the place. Nice furniture and bar area, added some walls, etc. We opted to sit outside because of the unusual warm October weather. We started out with one waitress and ordered a few drinks to start. She brought out a sip of what I asked for, I didn't like it, so I ordered a cider. She came back with the cider and the wrong beer for my husband. And she even switched the two when she set them down, "Oh this is the cider, oops." It wasn't because I matched the 'beer's' color to my friend's cider, so we swapped again. My husband ended up going inside to get the correct beer - not even close to what she'd originally brought him. That being said, the beer and cider were fine. My friend had been there before us and ordered the tacos which looked good, so my husband also ordered them. They were chorizo/sweet potato and my husband said they were good, but he didn't taste any chorizo. I got the chicken and rice bowl which had my husband's missing chorizo and was pretty tasty. Decent prices all around. We also got some of the korean BBQ wings which were almost too large of a serving (8 or 10? and pretty large). My friend warned us their appetizers are large. Eventually we moved inside because we couldn't deal with our third spider crawling around the umbrellas outside. First time here, went on a Friday night so they were pretty busy. Staff was very friendly. The spicy margarita wasn't all that good wasn't spicy and didn't have much alcohol in it. I got a beer on tap after that was good. Drinks took a long time to get to us but the food was tasty. We got the eggplant ribbons, those were very good. I got the salmon cooked perfectly but I didn't love the side it was a cold orzo veggie mix. I would have perfected it hot. My friend got the salad with chicken and enjoyed that. Stopped in before Avett Brothers concert down the street and this place is really very good. Tapas were all outstanding(and all were different but went so well together), tap list unreal and vibe here was comfortable yet alive and buzzing. Service was off because of the crowd but you'd think they'd be prepared for this. Ended up getting our own drinks which was not a problem.. but left thinking if we were in college/early 20's, we would've cleaned up tip-wise as a server in 3-4 hours. Everything about Tap & Vine would be 5 star except the waiting. I arrived at the restaurant at 6:45 and was told that I would only be waiting ~ 30 minutes for a table. My guest and I waited a full hour before we were seated. Other guests taken after us were seated before us. I was just a little confused. This is such a cute little restaurant in Wallingford. I get New Haven vibes from this place. Their drink menu is extensive, if you want to go during happy hour! Their food is delicious. I had the chicken tacos and BOY, were they good. We came by for dinner on a weekend. They have a small outdoor seating area that's pretty nice. I started with a steak and cheese egg roll, it was pretty big and overall pretty good. I got the shrimp & bacon flatbread, which was definitely on the small side and I couldn't find any bacon on it (plenty of shrimp though). I also tried a bite of the mac & cheese (without meat), it was a bit bland but probably would've been better with the andouille. We were a company of 8 and came to this hole in the wall kinda gastro pub, for the Mrs' birthday dinner. I wanted a tapas kinda night and chose this place because of the shareables. We were not disappointed. Firstly Veronica our server was the only one attending to all tables and the manager was helping out here and there. We brought a cake which she put in the fridge for us till the end. She did her absolute best and although we had to wait a while for the food to come, the company and drinks made it easy, and boy was it worth the wait. We ordered almost everything from the shareables menu and each had their own unique tastes of quality. - sticky icky ribs, Korean bbq wings, short rib tacos, chicken tacos, Brussels sprouts with bacon, shrimp and bacon flat bread and short rib flatbread. People were picking, passing, laughing, drinking and eating. Veronica brought the cake at the end, we sang happy birthday and she took it back and cut everyone a slice and served it individually. The food was outstanding. The prices are great. The service was REALLY good. Definitely try the wings and hushpuppies appetizers....really delicious. I had the arugula salad and it was exceptional. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that the noise level was almost unbearable. If you are hard of hearing, don't go here at peak times. I had a nice first experience at Tap & Vine. They have an extensive beer list with a lot of great looking choices. As others have said their wine list is much smaller but still provides a decent amount of choices. The interior was probably my least favorite thing about this restaurant. The decor didn't do it for me and it just wasn't very inviting. With that said the food and service was good. My friend started with the steak eggrolls. I didn't try them but they looked delicious and definitely didn't skimp on the filling. For my meal I ordered the skirt steak which was very flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The chimichurri was very fresh and the corn was awesome as well. The waffle fries it came with were some of the best I've had! For dessert I went with the cheesecake eggrolls. They were good, but nothing to rave about about and I would probably try something else next time. read more

Yes!!!! This is the perfect lunch spot. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming with table and bar spots. Their menu is very inclusive with so many incredible options to choose from. May I start with, Tap & Vine was highly recommended to us. Both servers were far from attentive. When we arrived we were told the only table they had that was away from a very noisy private party (where toddlers were allowed to run through the restaurant without shoes on and throwing toys) had a reservation in a few hrs. We said ok & sat, looked at the menu and 2 other tables were seated and waited on before a server came to our table. Ok, we ordered drinks that remained at the bar quite awhile while others were waited on. When the drinks were brought to our table the server had their fingers in the wine glass. We asked for a clean glass and waited several minutes for another glass. Server then walked away and proceeded to wait on other tables. We finished our drinks and several minutes later our server asked if we were ready to order. Guess they didn't need the table for a reservation after all. We found this place on yelp and wanted something in the Wallingford area. We had the jalapeño hush puppies. They have a little bite but the honey butter that comes with it was amazing. My mom had the shrimp and grits and said it was the best she ever had. I had the burger and it was juicy and seasoned well. The pretzel bun was fun and tasted great. Ooh where to begin. I'm not entirely sure what kind of place this is. Beside overpriced and gross. We waited forever just to be acknowledged so we could get a table. Literally 15 minutes before someone even said "hello" or "be right with you". That should have been the signal to leave because it certainly went downhill from there. The evening was a total disaster and quite honestly the group I was with started to think it was because they weren't white. To the point where the words "my money is just as green as yours" were spoken. That's an issue. A huge issue. Colossal! The food had zero flavor, we were served raw (really raw) chicken then given attitude for not wanting another dish, waited 20 minutes for drinks that were mediocre at best. This whole experience was just a mess and I don't think we'd go back if someone paid us to. There was an apology at the end of the night, but honestly... we heard multiple apologies to multiple parties. So why bother even saying sorry at that point. The whole evening is a testament to the exact opposite of being sorry. How and why this place is open is a mystery. They clearly don't care about the food, drinks, or the guests. read more

My wife and I went here for a late dinner on Saint Patrick's Day. Reservations suggested, not a ton of seating so they don't need to be excessively busy to be full. While this place has been in Wallingford for quite some time and even changing names several times, I've only visited it the most as Tap and Vine. I've had the same server every time and he has been super friendly and accommodating every time. I once got a beer float from this place and it was incredible. Super yummy and very interesting!! The food has always been great, but the menu choices are interesting. I don't claim to be a picky eater, but many things on the menu I don't know what they are, so I don't always jump to try them. I however have tried a flat bread and the brussel sprouts. I've never had brussel sprouts with apple before, but they are great and I've ordered them twice already. They also had a caramel macchiato beer on tap last time I was there that was incredible (and sounds disgusting but is actually amazing). Can't wait to try more of the menu! read more

I just love this place. The menu is small, but they have enough to suit almost everyone, and the specials have been good as well. I like that you can add a protein to a salad for a reasonable price. So many places charge an arm and a leg to add 4 ounces of chicken! The atmosphere is casual, but classy, and the tap list has interesting choices that are different every time I go. We love Tap & Vine! Since moving to town during the pandemic, it has been our most reliable takeout spot. Our favorites include the short rib birria tacos, short rib flatbread, fries, and hush puppies. The staff is always so great and Hector is the best! Especially during peak COVID times, we always felt safe ordering food from here. We did get to enjoy the patio this summer also and ordered some fabulous specials. We were looking for a place to meet friends between Hartford and New Haven, and this seemed like a good option. I really like the ambience of the outside area (although we ended up opting to sit inside). The interior is laid out a bit strangely, and I think they could make better use of the space if they changed it up a bit. The service was really friendly, and the beer list was great. I always love a place that lets you do beer flights and choose your own options for the tastings! The food was solid, but not outstanding.
