Don't let the fact that the restaurant is located within the Gordon Hotel scare you away, it actually adds to Tapa Taco's charm. The Gordon Inn is a quaint little boutique, and Tapa Taco has a very large space within that meets the cozy and comfortable ambience. Their menu is huge, so deciding what to order can be half the battle. We opted for multiple small plates vs large entrees and it was a culinary adventure. I didn't manage to get many pics, however, I was too busy devouring the dishes as they came out. The drinks were tasty as well, we literally enjoyed every aspect of our visit!

I lived off Tapa Taco during our week in Union Pier! Amazing flavors, homemade food, fresh, local, family owned...and the list goes on and on. Could use more naan with the hummus but not going to detract a star or anything. Pictures of what I had are attached and my family loved their empanadas, tacos and chicken strips!

The food here was pretty good. I tried the chips and salsa, guacamole, tres leches, rice, beans, and 3 tacos. Steak, chicken, and pork for the tacos. I liked the pork taco the best. The rice could use a little more seasoning and I prefer a plain tres leches to the chocolate one they have here, but overall, it was good and I would return to try some other things. The decor is simple but nice and the service is friendly.

Hidden gem with fresh, flavorful food fish and pork tacos were excellent, and churros made a perfect dessert. Cozy indoor seating, fair prices add to the experience. Convenient for hotel guests, highly recommended!

Lovely little spot located in the Gordon Beach Inn. It has very classic rustic cabin vibes mixed with Latin American decor and art in the best way. We were the only guests when we got there so we were sat right away. The server was great. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. We tried the two vegan arepas and the vegan tacos. I hadn't tried an arepa before and was very impressed. The chips and salsa were also one of the best things we tried. I would've to visit again and stay at the cute inn next time.

We came here for a gals' weekend and the food sounded good and the reviews were positive, but Tapa Taco exceeded all our expectations! Get the yapingacho, it is awesome! Comforting and totally unique.

We learned about Tapa Taco from the Lakeside Inn; and from their only Yelp review. It was good so we were willing to give them a try. We are glad we did! Allison served us with a smile and great attitude. We sat in the main dining room. They have a bar area and two outside porches available too. Our food came out quickly with nice presentation and each dish was yummy. It was a pleasant experience. There is plenty of parking available and is handicapped accessible.

This was our first visit to Tapa Taco and we were impressed! The photo I took was taken before all of these tables and more filled up! The menu is diverse and wonderful! Wish I had taken a photo of the food but we were too busy enjoying! The Margarita and sangria we ordered were delicious and the chips, guacamole and salsa were fantastic ! I ordered the shredded beef and shrimp and mango tacos which were SO good! Tacos were $5 each, incredible! The fried plantains were also fabulous! Alan, our server who is also the restaurant manager was so helpful and had good recommendations. Highly recommend, we will be back soon! Love Union Pier!!

Visited the new Rios restaurant in New Buffalo today. With 40+ years of experience in eating at…read moreauthentic Mexican restaurants in Pilsen and La Villita, I have to say I was impressed. We had a steak and a chicken burrito: aside from the more than adequate size, these were fresh, tasty, and actually made for two meals each (well, it depends on how hungry you might be;-)!). The medium salasa verde was just right as it pleasantly left a tingly flavor on your lips but didn't burn them. The ordering was swift, food came out fast (yet indicative of being prepared freshly in the back); the staff was friendly and, well, seemingly secure in the quality of their food, as they withstood my questions. Again, having had the benefit of eating authentic Mexican food prepared by the mamasitas in Latino neighborhoods, I believe to be a good judge of the quality of the food. If you eat in, the decor and vibe are pleasant - contemporary with sufficient cultural influences in its decor to "feel the Mexican" ... and there's a gift shop to boot with pretty cool stuff. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rios based on today's experience. "¡Muchas gracias por su profesionalismo y por traer un auténtico sabor mexicano a una oferta gastronómica generalmente tipo Wonderbread por aquí ;-)!" Wishing you continued success.

You order at the counter or a kiosk, they hand you an in-house pager and when it flashes, you get your food....and for this they guilt you for a tip at the time of payment... On top of that, there is no fountain drinks, you fetch your own out of a cooler. I ordered a steak burrito and my wife ordered the taco bowl. Again, had to get your own utensils from the counter. After I took the foil off the burrito, it immediately began to un-wrap and fall apart into the foil...(for that I could have ordered the burrito bowl)....was very difficult to eat. The taco bowl was just ok. Bottom line, the food was far short of great....mediocre at best. Sorry, won't be coming back.

We grabbed a beer and a glass of wine at the bar while we waited. The atmosphere is one of my favorite things about this restaurant. It's open, welcoming, and full of personality. I loved all of the dog photos throughout the restaurant and their "Sit. Stay. Eat!" theme, it gives the place such a fun, relaxed vibe. The menu is awesome, I honestly had a hard time deciding because everything sounded so good. We started with the truffle fries and they were incredible. For my entrée, I chose the grilled red snapper tacos, they were delicious. The fresh pineapple salsa paired perfectly with the fish, and I especially loved the pickled red cabbage on top. The snapper was grilled perfect. My husband and daughter shared the grilled shrimp po'boy which turned out to be a great decision because it's a generous-sized sandwich. They both liked the Cajun remoulade sauce and the soft telera roll it was served on. They also ordered a side of onion rings. My son enjoyed the cheeseburger from the kids menu. Our server was friendly and attentive. The Stray Dog has great food, a fun atmosphere, and excellent service. It's easy to see why it's such a popular spot. We will definitely be back the next time we're in New Buffalo!
