    Atol de elote

Despite the name of the restaurant which pays heed to the city of Guadalajara, I suspect the owners are Salvadorian, as the pupusas seem to be the star of the show here. I had two with queso and loroco, my usual order, and the texture was great. The veggie taco was so-so; garnishes were good, but the inclusion of broccoli in a taco kind of ruined it for me. The atol de elote did not quench our thirst, as expected, but was well-spiced and would be a great conclusion to a meal in the winter.

Our favorite stop on the cinco de mayo tour!! The tacos were delicious and our waiter was so nice! We also got the tres leches and it was so delicious and creamy.

Not my favorite style of taco with the sour cream, cheese, and salsa, but it's fine at what it's trying to do. However, I'm definitely interested to come back to try the pupusas and tamales!

Tapatio is back after their 2006 fire, and with it, Broadway does the impossible and becomes deliciouser. That's right, deliciouser. You know all those taco and burrito places doting Cambridge and Brookline and the like these days? Anna's, Boca Grande, etc.? Those places' food taste like the places they're in -- sterile, safe, boring. But if you head on over to Broadway, the most delicious street in the delicious city of Somerville, you'll find Tapatio, where they stuff you full of flavors that dance and mingle and are happy to be together, not sitting next to one another like strangers on an uncomfortable plane ride into your mouth. The food's as cheap or cheaper here than those boring places, and unlike them, actual Mexican people -- LOTS of actual Mexican people -- eat here, which should be telling. And the staff that have helped me on my numerous times back since the reopening have spoken English just fine, so don't worry about that. Warm, inviting, delicious, FAST, and cheap. Go once and you'll be hooked.

Bean and cheese pupusa with included spicy slaw and salsa--a feast!

When the friendly woman behind the counter here handed me my bag, I almost thought she had made a mistake: it seemed way too big and heavy. Apparently my order included chips and salsa and a salad, making it a veritable feast for two for only $11.50! The salsa was really, really mild, almost like watered down tomato soup. Luckily, the spicy pickled salad with jalapeños pick(l)ed up the slack in the flavor department, and it made a great way to break up the greasiness. Even the "small" burrito for $6.50 was giant (probably a 12" tortilla). I wouldn't spend the extra dollar to upgrade to large unless you're really, really hungry! The bean and cheese pupusa ($2.50) was delicious and filling. The cheese bubbled out and got crispy in a few places, so good! Just be prepared to wait a few minutes for a pupusa--they're made to order! The tamale ($2) wasn't quite what I expected. First of all, it came wrapped in a banana leaf (I think?) instead of a corn husk, which made it a little more... flaccid? And instead of a little bit of finely chopped/ground chicken in the middle, this tamale was absolutely stuffed with huge chunks of chicken, carrots, potatoes, and peas, almost a chicken stew of sorts. Unfortunately, the chicken had a bone in it, but that almost made me like it more--I could practically picture the filling bubbling away on the stove! Overall, I'm glad I didn't succumb to one of the many other Mexican places lining Broadway! If you want a lot of food for cheap, without sacrificing cleanliness or friendly service, Tapatío is your place.

Location- pretty close to the Orange line stop and right on the main road. Ambiance- it was frequented by a lot of Latinos so I'm guessing the food has to be good or either authentic. Food: I got a steak burrito with everything except for cheese and sour cream. The burrito was grilled on the outside on the flat top and had a slight crunch. The meat was plentiful albeit a bit saltier than I would've liked, but the ingredients worked well together and everything was fresh. My favorite was adding these pickled green Chiles they had at the table. The order came with chips too, although not too many, with a vibrant and homemade salsa. Cost- $9.02 Verdict- best burrito I've had in Boston so far and I've eaten at Anna's

The business is sort of in a house? It was small and kind of dark inside. It was definitely an interesting experience,,, The appetizer was reallyyy good, I forgot the name though... The mole however, was not very good. The mole was liquidy and the chicken was dry. Overall, I think this place is more for fun busy nights where you just drink and apps. I'd like to come again when its busier and we aren't the only customers.

We started off with two drinks- a frozen mangonada and this passion fruit drink. They were both solid but I liked the mangonada better because the passion fruit cocktail had too much pulp in it! For food, we started off with chips and guac. This guac was some of the best I've had. It was super fresh and you could tell exactly what ingredients they used. We also their pork ribs! The ribs fell off the bone and I loved the warm sauce except it was a tiny bit dry. The sauce was reminiscent of an umami bbq sauce. We decided to try their zucchini dish, as recommended by the manager! I don't love zucchini usually but I liked it. It was roasted with cheese, sauces, and some shrimp. Very creative, Lastly we got the tuna ceviche of the day. I didn't really like this because it was really heavy on the dill. I think it would've been good without it. However the presentation was gorgeous and it came with plantains. Overall the vibes are superb here for a date, girls night, or whatever!!

We ordered the following: - fish tacos (3) - flavor wise this fell flat for me. No punch of seasoning to the fish personally. - Birria tacos combo - fire combo. I just love birria style tacos. Highlight for me hot and well cooked beef, tender. - Birria chimichanga (2) this is hefty, i thought this was a good chimichanga, i would probably ask for extra sauce next go around, it got a bit dry without it. - carne asada enchiladas, the lady enjoyed this, carne was moist and tender. - pork belly & yuca loved the pork belly originally thought it was more like a chicharron dish but enjoyed this style , the yuca wasn't my jam. - tajin elote (2) love tajin elotes so no complaints! - churro espresso Great spot, great service.

Plus they had other options, including tostadas, bowls, tamales, burritos, you name it. When we arrived, there were people inside eating. We stopped to look at the menu before ordering, and were greeted by a very friendly man who made the experience more enjoyable. I ordered a tostada with steak, onions, cilantro, a little sour cream, green verde sauce, lettuce, and refried beans. It was my first time trying one so so was really excited. I also ordered two cheese pupusas, which I ended up taking to go with me. My boyfriend ordered a bowl with chicken and various toppings. My tostada was delicious. The crunchy tortilla paired with fresh steak and all the juices from the onion and cilantro paired so nicely together. The ingredients seemed very fresh. We were gonna take this to go, but we decided to dine in. The same gentleman ended up checking in on us half way through the meal to see how we were doing. I thought this was really nice. His name is Chef Noe and he was telling us that he is the head chef for this restaurant. He was glad we enjoyed our meal and it was a pleasure talking to him. Overall I think the spot is well placed as it is right near Leslie university in Harvard so I think it's a good spot for students to come or if you're local like us. It's quick but it has quality. Its fast food but it's fresh. That's what I liked about it. It's all prepared in house and the flavors are great. The decor is also cute inside, very colorful and I thought it was creative that they up-cycled Jarittos bottles into flower vases. Definitely check out the spot when you're in Cambridge and you won't be disappointed.

I really need to remember to look online before choosing my order in the future (or so I thought). While the tacos still look incredible (especially the birria ones), the torta was surprisingly great as well. The sandwich is jam packed with ingredients and really well balanced. The beef was juicy and tender, and the veggies added a really nice balance of spice (jalapenos), freshness (onions, lettuce, and tomatoes), and richness (cheese and avocadoes). The refried beans were a pleasant surprise as well, adding really good moisture and flavor to the overall bite. And including avocado on the torta for no extra cost really is what put this above and beyond to a 5/5 - the avocado was ripe and had just the right amount of it to add that rich and fatty element without being too slippery and making it hard to eat. The fries, on the other hand, were a bit soggy and thick for my liking. I had seen another photo on Yelp where they looked a lot crispier and were shaped differently, so not sure if I just got unlucky, but the sandwich more than made up for the fries in this case. I really can't say enough positive things about the torta. And even though the torta was fantastic and I gave it a 5/5, I definitely want to come back for those tacos. Three tacos plus rice for $18 is a pretty great deal, and the tacos really look incredible. My partner ordered a tongue, al pastor, and fish taco and while I didn't try them, they looked and smelled incredible. We will definitely be back!
