Like most of the many Mexican food choices in Alpine good! Very good carnitas at a very reasonable price. Make sure you ask for "real" guacamole if you are a fan. The salsa bar with hot carrots and free chips for people eating in is perhaps the best asset of Tapatios. Hot carrots seem to always put a smile on my face. The rolled tacos with guacamole are very good, but if you're going to have beans, make sure is it during a meal time. I had a bean and cheese burrito there once at about 2:30 pm and the beans were DRIED OUT! It was almost impossible to swallow them!!! They have a TV, but you need to enjoy VERY LOUD SPANISH SHOWS if you're going to eat in! Easy location to get to and fast service. read more

The bean and cheese burrito was a disaster, the tortilla was overcooked, crispy and almost burned. There was a piece of what looked like blue string (?) in it as well, which my 6 year old had to pull out after biting into it. The wet mixed burrito was okay, wouldn't order again though. The sauce was way too sweet to be on top of a burrito, and the shredded beef had a lot of chewy and pure fatty parts I had to pick out. I had rolled tacos here before, which were pretty good, but I'd stay away from ordering wet.. and maybe the beans? Maybe I caught them on an off day, but I will continue my search for mexican food in Alpine. read more

There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Alpine, but Tapatios is our favorite. The food is always good and the staff is friendly. My daughter is in college up north. Every time she comes home she has to have her Tapatios fix. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I recently went around Alpine collecting gift cards for a Military fundraiser and Tapatios was EXTREMELY EXTREMELY GENEROUS. Their food was already amazing but just won all the points they could after helping local veterans and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Assoc.
