My husband and I dined here yesterday. We arrived around 2:30 and were excited to try a new place. We've lived all over the world and love bistro's, the casual environment, the unique food, and the way you can just relax and take your time. Although the food was good, it was overpriced, and we felt quite rushed. The waiter even explained to us that "their clientele were trained to not arrive after 3 as they close as soon as possible each day." In fact an elderly couple arrived at 3:10, I watched the gentleman gently guide his frail wife with a cane across the parking lot prior to entering the restaurant which is how I know the time. The sign on the establishment clearly states the last seating is at 3:15, the proprietor turned them away when they entered stating they had their last seating for the day (us). We were disappointed with the reaction of the owner, and this was certainly not the way we would have wanted to be treated if we arrived at that same time. Finally, as we were leaving the parking lot at 3:38 we watched the owner lock the front doors. We will not be returning, we certainly can spend our $50 (for lunch) somewhere else. read more

Very nice place and amazing food. They have to-go, desserts (like cakes) and do catering. Perfect location for small parties - I have been there for a few lunch parties, really nice. Had what may be the best lunch of my life there - very fresh ingredients and super flavorful. Lunch menu is amazing sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. They also have an outside seating area which was perfect for a nice day. Desserts are from Providence bakery next door and are the best in York. Went for our anniversary dinner. Food was ok, too highly seasoned which blocked the flavor of the ingredients. Service was prompt, server knowledgeable and pleasant, but only saw her to take the order, deliver the food, ask about dessert and deliver the check. Definitely knew that we were not part of the "Tapenade clique". All of the staff swarmed around tables of friends eating there, ignoring us poor plebians who were there for the food and good service. Actually had the feeling that we were intruding on a private party. Have also had both breakfast and lunch there. Food is great, but the same feeling of being an intruder exists. If you are not a regular, they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by seating you. Desserts are usually good, but do not understand why a restaurant of this caliber continues to use "cool whip" instead of whipped cream in desserts. read more

Came here for a late weekday lunch with my parents, and everyone really enjoyed themselves. My father is definitely a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, and wasn't sure that he would like it, but even he left a fan! The place was packed when we arrived- good sign! The atmosphere was cozy, elegant, and inviting. I was a little worried that the table was a bit small, but it was perfect. There was one very minor hiccup in service- we waited about 10 minutes for someone to approach the table. We didn't really notice at first because we were talking and looking at the menu. Just as I was about to get up to tell the hostess, our server came over to tell us the specials, and after that, the service was excellent. We had already decided what we wanted, and our server took our orders right away, and came right back with our drinks. Food arrived in a timely manner, and drinks were refilled as needed. The service was efficient and friendly without being overbearing. I had a cup of tomato and crab bisque, which was delicious. We were all amazed at how much crab was in the soup. Dad had the Black Russian, which was london broil with horseradish on pumpernickel. The meat was cooked exactly as ordered, and was very tender. Mom had a special salad, which she really enjoyed, and I had chicken salad on a croissant, which was excellent. All the food was delicious, but the bread was the standout- they offered so many types, and they were all exactly as they should be. The pumpernickel was earthy and dense, the croissant was light and flaky, the French bread with the soup was just the right texture for sopping. Really well done! The bill before tip came to a little over $40- not the cheapest lunch in town, but a really fantastic value when you factor in the quality of both the food and the experience. This was easily one of the best lunches I've had in a while- I will definitely be back the next time I visit my parents! read more

There were 3 of us and everyone raved about their food. A soup in a bread bowl, a salad, and a wrap were our 3 meals for lunch. $40 before tip! A little high for lunch - the ambiance doesn't earn the up-charge. I will go back; dinner for couples, etc., when the price wouldn't be as much of a concern. Went for brunch, loved it! Great menu choices, they all looked yummy! Gonna have to get back! Excellent breakfast menu with unique chef specials. Excellent wait staff. Always a specialty coffee offering and fresh squeezed orange juice. As the name suggests, seating is limited. More seats outside during warmer weather. Can be noisy inside and feel a bit tight. Still, worth the wait if going without reservations. For ensuring a table without a long wait, reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends. read more

Today my friends and I were there for the second time and it was as great as the first. We had breakfast and they have a great menu. One of the best places you can eat in York county. I have come here many, many times and always leave happy and full. The baked oatmeal (flavors change daily) is to die for and it always come with a homemade scone that's equally delicious. If you happen to come in and the oatmeal is featuring baked coconut and blueberries, you struck gold. Definitely try a cup of coffee too... always great flavors but not because of sugary syrups (trust me, my thighs don't need that). read more

Have had lunch here many times over the past few years and the food is always good - in fact outstanding. Since the space is small it is also quite noisy. This makes it hard for conversation or even to hear the server. That aside, here''s my pet peeve- the garnish on the desserts is Cool Whip! Please! For a restaurant that prides itself on food above the ordinary and extra special desserts, couldnt they use REAL whipped cream???
