I saw club sodas in the glass fridge and ordered 2 of them b/c I was traveling in my car for a long distance so needed cold beverages. It was ~$1.35 for just a 10 oz (expensive). He pulls out 2 club sodas from a different storage area rather than the glass fridge. I (of course) thought the beverages were cold. Wrong. Who serves people HOT, FLAT and EXPENSIVE club sodas. I should have went to Starbucks. I requested a cup of ice b/c I wanted it extra cold and I was traveling a long distance in my car so I needed the cold beverages. To make it worse, he gave me NO LID ON THE CUP, so when I placed it in my car cup holder, the drink spills as I drive b/c of NO LID. To add insult to injury they have LOUD PROFANITY RAP MUSIC playing in the background. How is that music welcoming to families, to young children, to people trying to have a conversation but can't hear each, to people just wanting to use the slow wi-fi and get a little work done? I didn't know the club sodas were hot till after I paid so I tipped him, but shouldn't have and he DIDN'T EVEN SAY THANK YOU. It was like it's assumed. NEVER GO HERE. Go to STARBUCKS where they serve cold club sodas, give you a cup lid, say thank you when tipped and no loud profanity rap music playing. read more

This Tapioca Express location sucks. They deliver your drinks dripping down the cup and they didn't have any napkins. The cup holder was suuper flimsy and the drinks fell and spilled all over me and the car on the way home, no labels placed on drinks so it's impossible to tell what drink is which if they look alike. Also, wait time for drinks is way longer than it should be. Haven't had any good experience with this location, don't recommend it. read more

I've gone there twice and they've been out of boba both times (and this is in the afternoon so not like we're there during closing hours). The almond milk tea was very mediocre. We got the chi chi fries and if you don't like soggy fries drenched in sauce, this isn't the snack for you. They're very interesting flavored I wouldn't get them again. The vanilla cookie snow smoothie was the best part of this, is was pretty tasty and very sweet. read more

I was super excited when I found out there was another tapioca express that opened in eastlake/chula vista area. I went there last week with my boyfriend and I can't tell you how much of a disappointment it was. We walked in and received a nice greeting. The store was small, not nearly as big as the one on convoy but I didn't mind that. I ordered a taro snowbubble and a crispy chicken snack. It was around 11pm and we were the only customer in there, which is why I was puzzled as to why my food and drink took ridiculously long! I received my drink 10 minutes after I ordered and the tapioca balls tasted chewy and old. It tasted like they made them the night before and used it for the next day. After about 20 minutes, I asked the cashier about my crispy chicken snack and he said the cook in the back wasn't cooking it so he did it himself. 0.0 Seriously? He finally brought it out with an apology, so I brushed it off. When I tasted the chicken I was even more disappointed. It was overly seasoned, over-battered, and the pieces were pretty much crumbs! My overall experience here deserves 1 star and I'll never come back. read more

Ok, now that they have been open for a week now, I can say that I have been here nearly everyday to try out all their different types of drinks. I have also tried their food, which did take quite a while to actually be available. I would have preferred a nice sign on the menu board say "coming soon", instead of me asking everyday if the lumpia or the adodo were available. I think they still need to have that "coming soon" sign for the other food dishes on the menu board. As for the store itself small but clean, sometimes has one of the two giant t.v.'s on, sometimes off. Can get a bit noisy due to all the blenders going, if it's busy. And it also on the small/narrow side, but over all nice layout. All the drinks have been pretty good, I am a relative new comer to the world of tapioca exress and all the different types of drinks they have here, hence I'm trying to drink them all. I like the idea of having more than one type of boba unlike other places. This place has small and large, and also a whole range of other add-ons: jellies. As for the food, I finally got to try the lumpia, which is not your typical lumpia that you will find at your local Pilipino house party. It is a more softer and curry flavored inside, so not your typical Lumpiang Shanghai. But still very good, fried right, gb&d "golden brown and delicious". Crispy chicken dish is also pretty good. Not a fan of the fried calamari though, a bit too gummy chewy. One complaint: I wish that they would take a second to acknowledge the customers that walk in with a simple "hi, welcome to tapioca express" or something. Having been there at least 4 times, I have noticed that the employees are too focused on making the drinks and not even making eye contact with the customers. A simple "hi, I'll be right with you in a moment", or even a nod, a wave, would solve this situation. It happened to me, I felt ignored, and this might be their undoing in the long run. But I guess everybody is new here, and so I will give them a break for now. I mean they are the only one in the Bonita area, but they really need to brush up on their customer service skills. I'd give 2.5 stars. People working are nice, however I was reminded why I don't come to this one. The portions of their snacks... $3.50 for 6-8 pieces of squid balls, not even worth it. The other time I got chicken and they barely gave me anything. Very disappointed. The drinks are good though, but they need to stop skimping so much on the snacks. I'll come for the drinks but I'll drive elsewhere for the food. read more

Could be a lot better. I get the Chocolate Strawberry Snowbubble with boba. personally, I think these drinks need to be thicker & not watery. the last 2 times I've bought a drink at this location, they have been watery. My husband gets the cantaloupe boba. and that gets watered down as well. hopefully they fix their recipe. I'll still go to this location because it's down the street from my house. but I don't know if I will continue paying $4.75 for a large watery smoothie. read more

This place...was honestly whatever. I'm big on customer service. You should come to work with a smile on your face, ready to serve people and leave your bullshit at home. The one and only time I went here, the employees acted like i was bothering them..I came here a long time ago so i don't remember exactly what i ordered but it was something with boba and soy milk and it was god awful..tasted like milky water. I could have looked past the bad customer service if the product was good but the entire experience was horrible so...fuck this place. read more

I don't know what time this place really opens or closes. There are times I come 20 minutes before closing and it's already closed. Then I stop by today when it's supposed to be open at 11am and it's already 11:10 and it's still closed. Two stars because each time they mess up my boba order I get to keep the messed up boba order plus the correct boba order. Happens quiet often, It's almost like getting a free boba drink. First time here today. I usually go to the one on Plaza Blvd, but I was in the area and was craving some crispy chicken. I ordered a milk tea and a crispy chicken snack (extra spicy). The milk tea was okay, nothing spectacular, just your typical tap ex milk tea. The chicken was YUMMY, crispy, and fresh! Waited a bit, but I never mind waiting if the food is fresh. I loved that the chicken actually had a kick to it, something plaza blvd never got right. Extra spicy at that location usually means extra salty, but it was super good here.. not Convoy good, but still super good (lets be honest, nothing compares to the convoy location lol). Workers were friendly. I would definitely be back! read more

This is a cool little place for BOBA, they have a cool lounge with magazines and board games and free wifi! They have tons drinks I love anything with boba. You have to be infatuated with boba to love this place its like a dream come true for me heaven!!! The best part is they have an awesome frequent buyer program buy five get one free not bad as other places don't have this or its usually 10 get one free. I will keep getting my boba fix here when I am in the area. read more

Love this place. Drinks are really good and the people are friendly. Sometimes service is slow, but it's well worth it. Its in a good area and close to home. They also have a loyalty card which comes in handy when you visit often. Buy 10 get one free. :) read more

i like to think of myself as a boba connoisseur. i do drink it everyday afterall. but the weekly car meet is held at the bonita location, which i absolutely hate hate hate because everytime i order my usual here, it's always watered down. ordered the new hong kong milk tea matcha flavor. huge mistake. had to return it to get something basic instead. it had the weirdest aftertaste and was uninspiring. it also took 15 minutes to get my hot drink where my usual tapex i go to at eastlake (holla #TeamTapex) only takes me like a minute. sometimes the eastlake tapex will even make my drink for me by the time they see me walk in the door. word of advice: spend the extra 5 minutes and drive to the eastlake location. read more

What can I say, I love Boba!!! Soo many selections to choose from & their service is speedy just the way it should be.

Drinks were the same as the other locations but I ordered some chicken and calamari and I must say their portion size is quite small. I still usually go here or the Eastlake location because of the proximity. I keep seeing service mentioned in negative reviews but I have yet to experience bad service but that might be because I go here when it's not busy. read more

I LOVE this tapioca express. I've been to 2 others in San Diego and this one is by far the best. If they have it, order the grapefruit green tea. So amazing. This place has the same drinks as the other locations, but the one thing I do find that's different is the way that they make their rice plate combo. Instead of the steamed veggies and a fried egg with whatever meat choice you chose, they give you a corn on the cob and a chopped up super hard boiled egg and some weird but tasty brown rice topper thing. The thing that really bummed me out was that there was no fried egg like the other locations. So if you're looking for the traditional style combo rice plate this isn't that TapEx. Sometime when it gets busy the portions of the chicken snacks also tend to get smaller. read more

I was really craving boba one day so I ended up coming here and to my surprise...they RAN OUT of boba!!!! How does a boba place run out of boba?? I was so surprised by this. And they probably put like 1 spoon of boba in there coz it run out and I'm not even half way yet. Overprice!!!! Customer service suck. They close their kitchen an hour and a half before the actual store closes. Sometimes they close way earlier than their actual closing time that they tell customers. When you tell me the kitchen closes at 7:30pm that means it closes at 7:30pm, not 7:20pm. You are a business, so stand by what you say to customers. read more

I come here a lot since I am in the Bonita area every Sunday. I love boba tea and TapEx have always delivered but their service today was unbelievable. I understand that miscommunication and mistakes happen anywhere. It is how you handle it that matters the most. I ordered 3 drinks and a snack. I knew I would have to wait a bit longer because they make the food to order. 15mins into waiting they told me it should be ready soon. So I asked where my drinks were. They then gave me and each other puzzled looks. After finding my ticket, they started making the drinks while jokingly blaming each other. I then pointed out that they were making the wrong drink. They never addressed me this whole time as they were busy joking and laughing at each other. They very casually (can barely hear) apologized and offered the wrong drinks free of charge. I declined the offer because no one would drink that. In this situation, I would have preferred a very mature and clear apology. That's it. No giggling and joking with the other staff like I wasn't there. Drinks were OK and tasted the same. But customer service was absolutely disappointing. The level of immaturity of the people behind the counter shows the business' lack of staff training or weak management. read more
