I read the Yelps, and was intrigued. When I pulled up in front of it, I almost kept driving. It looks like a chain, which always puts me in a different state of mind, and I was a bit disappointed this might be the case with Tapri. There was one spot open in the limited parking in front of the place, so I took that as a good sign and went in. I sunk a bit more to find the room cold and uninviting. Uh-oh. I was the onliest person in the joint. Uh-oh X 2. I kept coming back to the Yelps indicating the eats here were pure money. I sat down. Weird way of ordering, basically they send you to a Doordash-type thing to order on your fone, then they bring it out. Uh-Oh #3... Well... Started with "Paani-Poori" Appetizer, then "Andhra Gongura Masala with Lamb" and Garlic Naan. The Paani-Poori came out in a distinctive setting, and the youngish girl showed me the proper way to consume, as I had never came across anything looking like this. It was totally fab and totally unique! OK Tapri had my attention! Almost immediately after the Paani came to the table, my Mains showed up. The table was almost too small to hold it all. (perhaps this was consequence of the strange way of ordering. As the Gongura looked and smelled excellent, I decided to treat the starter as a "side dish" and plowed ahead. That Gongura was TOTALLY yum. The Lamb was perfectly tender, and legitimately HOT. So many places claim their foods are "Hot" , but they are selling culinary wolf tickets. Same thing with the Garlic Naan-a lot of places SAY "garlic" but there's barely a whiff in the final product. Not here. The garlic note was strong, just the way I like it--and it was a perfect pairing with the Gongura. I et all the protein, and poured the remaining curry over the basmati in a "to-go". I wasn't letting any of this get past me. (it was fab the next day as accompaniment to a grilled hanger steak.). No refills on the Diet Coke, but a small gripe in face of the great cuisine. It wasn't cheap, but I din't mind the tab, as the feed was so fine. The service was warm and personable. In sum total, one of the best Indian feeds I ever had. Throwing 5 well-earned stars. I'll deffy be back! Just shows to go ya, you can't judge a restaurant by it's facade (or lack of it)

This place is a gem. Chicken korma? Perfect. Samosas? Fresh and light as can be. Dum biryani with goat? I'm from California and I've been eating goat in many forms for years but this was by far the best I have ever had in my life, tender, juicy, fresh and tasty with perfectly cooked rice. The hot chai tea was a new flavor for me, different than I've even had in India and delicious. The two servers were attentive, helpful, charming. Food came out fast but was so fresh you know it's homemade with love. They've transformed the place into an airy, pleasant space that could accommodate crowds and should be full all the time! I cannot wait to go back and try the chili chicken, a fusion dish that looks amazing, and everything else. Highly recommend! Will be back; so glad our favorite Thai place is closed on Wednesday and that we ended up here! BTW, my date had never eaten Indian food and he loved it so I think this is a great place to try things for those new to the cuisine.

Small space with couple 4 seating tables and rest is two seater. Service was confusing as I was asked to order online while next family get to order with person. Mango Lassi- 5/5 - good taste and consistency Veg. Makkah noodles- 4/5 - adding mushroom and spice will be good Mushroom tempura - 4/5 - good with noodles Jackfruit biryani - 2/5 - the masala has very strong flavor but not typical biryani masala. Tapri -- Casual Dining with Thoughtful Indian Fusion Tapri offers a relaxed, café-style dining experience rather than a traditional fine-dining setup, with casual seating and an easygoing atmosphere. What stands out immediately is the expansive vegetarian menu, centered on Indian fusion and creative reinterpretations of familiar flavors. While the setting is informal, many of the dishes feel thoughtfully curated--almost as if they belong in a fine-dining context, presented in a more approachable, everyday format. We tried the Paneer Bao, Salli Idli, Mushroom Haleem Arancini, Hakka Noodles, and Sticky Date Pudding. Among these, the Mushroom Haleem Arancini and Sticky Date Pudding were clear standouts. The arancini was perfectly spiced and crisp, served atop a warm, rich, and indulgent mushroom haleem--an unexpectedly successful vegetarian take on a dish traditionally associated with meat. It was creative, comforting, and genuinely memorable. The Sticky Date Pudding was equally satisfying and a strong finish to the meal. Another highlight is the value. Tapri is impressively budget-friendly, especially considering the level of creativity and execution on the plate. It's surprising that the restaurant isn't discussed more widely, as it is one of the few places confidently showcasing innovative Indian fusion while keeping it accessible and affordable. Tapri strikes a rare balance--casual, creative, and reasonably priced--and is well worth seeking out for anyone interested in vegetarian Indian fusion done right.

This is located next door to Chef Soon and Sport Clips. You can find parking in the front as well as plenty in the back. Inside the restaurant is on the smaller side. It wasn't hard to find a table. Prices are slightly on the expensive side but great quality. Service was good. Our server made sure that our dishes were not super spicy. We ordered tangdi kabab, garlic naan, roganjosh with halal lamb, chettinaadu with white shrimp, mango lassi, irani chai, and mango kulfi. Overall, it's a 4 out of 5. I think they need to work on drink sizes like for the Irani chat and the prices for some of the desserts. You want to give the customers good value so that they will come back. I'll come back for the food but I'll stick with tap water from now on. Desserts I found a better value at the Karak cafe in Lisle. -tangdi kabab 5 - the description on the website was right. The chicken was really juicy. I loved the spices. Medium spicy but very enjoyable. Make sure you use the mint chutney. -garlic naan 5 - very soft and fluffy. I like to take a piece and dip it into the curry sauces. -roganjosh with halal lamb 5 - curry flavor is more robust than the other one, I really liked all of the spices. The lamb was very tender. -chettinaadu with white shrimp 5 - the curry flavor has a sweeter taste due to the coconut and plenty of smaller size shrimps. -mango lassi 5 - texture and taste are different from the other versions I've had but it's still very tasty. -irani chai 4 - pretty flavorful but I wished it came in a bigger cup or at least a tea pot for the table. For $4 I could have gone to one of those Middle Eastern cafes for a bigger size. -mango kulfi 4 - tastes like regular mango ice cream but with like rose petals sprinkled on them. I don't think it's worth $9.

Delicious Indian food and drinks. We really enjoyed coming here. I had the butter chicken and the garlic naan, both of which were great. The restaurant is small and tables are a little bit closer together but it was definitely manageable. There is parking outside of the strip mall that the restaurant is in.

If you love Indian food, Tapri is the place for you! Tapri is a recent addition to the Woodridge area and it has truly won hearts with its beautiful decor and delicious food! We ended up getting the chai, pani puri, butter chicken masala, garlic naan, and veggie Hakka noodles. The pani puri stole the showwwww! The spiced water tasted just like home and the toppings were absolutely phenomenal! The butter chicken masala and garlic naan were outstanding. Both were so beyond flavorful and so fresh. I do wish there was more chicken in the curry. Finally, the veggie Hakka noodles were FANTASTIC! They were buttery and filled with so many wonderful flavors and seasonings! Absolutely loved all the dishes! When it comes to service, it was a bit slow. There was only 1 person seating people, taking ordering, delivering food, and cleaning up. I hope that given how busy they are already getting, they hire more staff so more people can experience their delicious food!

This is an excellent restaurant and clearly a labor of love. We eat Indian food fairly regularly and sometimes cook our own; I've also eaten at fancy Michelin star Indian restaurants. In my judgment, Tapri compared favorably with the best of these and in several ways exceeded them. We tried something like 8-9 different dishes, ranging from very good to excellent, with only one I didn't care for. The ingredients are clearly fresh and on the more "natural" side. The marketing claims Indian/Asian fusion, and that is true ... but I'd say it's closer to Indian fine dining, with some of the details and quality that implies. It is definitely unique and the quality is FAR HIGHER than the prices and location suggest. There is art here: in the food and in the presentation (eg, like platters or glassware). Particularly impressive are the drinks: a long list of thoughtfully chosen wines, beers, whiskies, etc -- many of them high quality options from India I'd never even seen or heard of. The items on the list that aren't Indian are also very well chosen, e.g., mostly French and Italian win. Much of the wine was also available by the glass (how often does that happen?) and you could tell it was all chosen to pair with the cooking style. We also tried multiple house cocktails (all of them influenced by Indian food or drinks) and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Even the coffee is good! The location is plain and small but bright and inviting with some attractive touches, like the comfy green seats on the wall -- again, clearly a labor of love. Best of all, it's all affordable. All of it! The potential here is huge. I'd say the care and quality in several areas is close to a Michelin star restaurant; I wouldn't be surprised if it gets there and I am really interested to see how the menu is refined over time. What this place really needs is a prixe fixe menu with drink pairings. This is my new place of mine for sure. Highest recommendation!

We tried this newly opened Indian place for dinner. It is a small place for dining in. Most of the people were getting take outs. The kitchen seems small as there was quite a bit of line for take outs. Food wise it's great! We ordered Bao buns with paneer but they weren't that great. The tangdi kabab were delicious! Mains was chicken chettinad again amazing taste wise. They have limited menu items. I also got to finally taste their jalebi rabdi after weeks of wait! It was absolutely amazing!! Must try!! All in all I would recommend to try this place :)

The place was small, maybe 40 seats max, but it had this nice calm vibe--not too loud, not too quiet. Service was on point. Super friendly, super fast, no weird waits or awkward gaps. They really know how to take care of people without hovering. The food was amazing. We got Pani-Puri, Chilli Chicken, Onion Fritters, Kebab, Haka Noodles, Spicy Chettinad with Garlic Naan and Rice. Every dish was packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and seasoned just right. The Chilli Chicken with Haka Noodles? Easily the best combo. The Jalebi at the end was the perfect sweet finish--crispy, syrupy, and not too heavy. Honestly, this place deserves way more love than it gets. read more

I am travelling from Australia...stopped by Chicago for some comfort food.....came across tapri...such a great Indian fusion restaurant with very unique food menu ... must try on a weekend They're soo many dishes with no food preservatives.... We're a group of people Enjoyed each and every dish very well Here are our favourites....Bavo tacos, avacado chat, Nama chicken, benna dosa....which is very delicious justified perfectly made by chef...chicken biryani was tooo tasty and last but not least the dessert....(it's their signature dessert ) sticky date pudding.....their combination of dates and ice cream too excellent ....everything Was made in-house by the master chef and founders of the restaurant. We never had such cool place far from home bringing all the flavours together here...I haven't even experienced it in Newzealand , Australia, Canada . This is place to try atleast once ....then u will automatically add it into your to go place. read more

This a great Indian Fusion restaurant with all the savory flavory you'd expect with just the right amount of spicy that doesn't overpower the flavor of the dish. I had a couple appetizers, chicken Baos Tacos and the Mushroom Haleem Aranchi Balls. The Baos was fantastic with a few different flavors being brought together The Chicken Dum Biryani is fantastic! It has the same level of spice as a medium spicy salsa. It comes with a couple different dips that enhance the flavor of the dish. Finally, I tried the Mango Kulfi. It's made in house and was absolutely great! A great experience, food, and service! Highly recommend it! read more

We asked the waiter for recommendations, since this was our first time eating here. They were excellent choices. The service was friendly, helpful, professional and thorough. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees, plus garlic naan, and took about half the entrees home with us. The mushroom haleem-kichdi arancini was an amazing burst of flavor. Cute place with friendly service and delicious food! We got to sit outside in the nice weather and enjoyed spicy, mild, and medium dishes. Garlic Naan was fresh and crispy. The shishito pepper Mirchi Chat was unexpected and delicious portion was generous. Hakka Noodles with chicken was a thicker noodle not a thin rice noodle very filling and flavorful. Chettinaadu was comforting. Chef came and checked us during our meal very thoughtful and kind. We will be coming back again. read more

Tapri was recommended in my neighborhood group, so our lunch club met here. 4 of us shared everything and everything was delicious! From the appetizers, to the entrees, to desserts, and even the drinks, we all agreed it was fantastic. Honestly the best Indian food I've had in Illinois! Oh the amazing flavor!!!! Simply delicious, bright and fresh flavors. Had the samosa, chicken tikka, butter chicken masala and the garlic naan and thoroughly enjoyed them all!! Highly recommend you give this place a try, they have been open for about a month and half and have been focused on getting the brand new team set up for success. They will begin advertising soon and once the word gets out this is going to be THE place to go for delicious, fresh Indian cuisine read more

Regarding the 1 star review below......Who orders just naan "to go"??? Not us! This is the best Indian food we've had in western suburbs (we love Kama Bistro....this blows Kama away)....amazing flavor, unique and original menu, all fresh and made daily. Pramod the owner/chef is lovely.....friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to his craft. So impressed with him and the entire staff...food was perfection read more

Ordered takeaway tonight and we were blown away. Our food was being packed when I arrived and was hot when we unpacked it. We ordered samosas, garlic naan, chicken butter masala and lamb roganjosh and everything was delicious. We asked for mild on the butter masala and it was just right. The lamb roganjosh was wellseasoned, flavorful and tender. The place is small but felt very cozy. They were busy which is so great to see people supporting our local small businesses. I rarely give reviews but had a very disappointing experience here. I ordered takeout and was given a pickup time. I arrived 10 minutes after my pickup time and was told it would take 10 more minutes. When I came back inside, I was asked to wait another 10 minutes. I was informed part of my order had been messed up. I was asked to wait a 3rd time after checking on the order, and when I asked if they were willing to comp anything for the very long wait I was rudely told no. Very disappointing customer service. We always support our local businesses, but I didn't appreciate how they treated me after I had to wait an extra 30 minutes in my car due to a mistake made in the kitchen. read more

Second time eating from here, this time delivery. Food still delicious and I noticed how nice the meat is, some places don't trim their meat enough and you end up with strange chewy bits, not at Tapri, which shows caring. I do wish the sides of rice were larger, it's just not enough for the generous amount of curry they give you. Best Indian food. read more

I looked at this as food start-up. So the ambience first, I kept my winter jacket the whole time - the heat was not working or they were seriously saving money. Now the salt into the wounds, the best dishes recommended by the hostess were "meh" but cost a pretty penny. Two people lunch cost us $60 (WOW ). I like to support startups - but with not so great food (with limited menu) and high prices- this can be pass for me. read more

Food was great! The mango lassi was the best I've ever tasted because it was freshly made! Amazing all around! Atmosphere was wonderful and the food was the best Indian I've ever had. My Bookclub had out meeting there and we tried so many of their delicious appetizers, curries and desserts. Will be coming back next week! Tried this new little gem in my village. It was delicious! The waiter was so extremely polite. My friend was familiar with Indian food, but the waiter also answered a question about the cuisine. We of course started with a samosa. It came with 2 sauces and the flavors were perfect. I ordered the chicken butter masala. The chicken was incredibly tender and sauce was the best I've had. We chose to get the garlic naan & it was so good with a hint of garlic, not too overwhelming. As we were finishing, the owner's wife came by to check on us and was l, again, so polite & helpful. I recommend people order their food and the Balkan desserts.

I was disheartened to see a 1-star review for Tapri when I came here to post my own. Having dined at this new restaurant myself, I can confidently say that the food is truly phenomenal! While they are still in their soft launch phase, the dishes I tried were outstanding. The butter chicken masala, paneer tikka, paneer korma, paani puri, and stuffed mirchi were all delicious and reminiscent of home-cooked Indian food. What impressed me most was that even my kiddo, who doesn't tolerate spicy food well, enjoyed the meal thoroughly and asked to go there again the next week. We've dined in and taken out food from Tapri three times since they opened almost two weeks ago. The restaurant's ability to balance flavors without compromising on taste is commendable. I was also delighted to notice that Tapri uses fresh ingredients, which makes a huge difference in the taste and quality of their dishes. The flavors are vibrant and rich without being overwhelming, and I appreciated that the food was gentle on the stomach - a rare find in Indian restaurants! I understand that there may be some hiccups during the soft launch phase, but I urge others to reserve judgment until they are fully operational.
