Stopped by Taps Bar and Grill late night just for some drinks, and had a great time. The bartender was super friendly and hilarious--definitely added to the vibe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Didn't try the food, but the drinks were solid and the atmosphere was chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will be back for sure!

I've been to Taps several times over the years and they are consistently ok. The service, while polite, is always slow. The food is generally good, but not amazing. The main reason we continue to go back there is because it's relatively conveniently located to the Straz with relatively moderate prices (not good prices, but not terrible). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, the ambiance is normally fine, but I've been there when they had live music playing and it was extremely loud. Like, club loud at like 6pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only thing I've ever had here that's blown me away was a salad they use to make that they don't even make anymore (it had shaved Brussels sprouts, hummus, avocado, chicken, and more things).

The service was top notch! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a DJ playing and the music selection was amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now to the food, the potatoes were perfectly done and great flavor. The pizza was next level delicious. The only thing missing was a better selection of NA beers

First time customer and we stopped before a matinee at The Straz, which is super close. It's more bar like than restaurant, with high top tables. Our server was quick to take our drink order and we ordered a crab artichoke dip appetizer at the same time. When she brought our drinks over, she said the appetizer would be right out, so I ordered the meatball sub as well. We waited and waited for our appetizer and I knew what was going to happen. They would be bringing our appetizer and sandwiches at the same time. The appetizer finally came, I had 4 bites and then came my sandwich. I get so mad when this happens. We weren't in a hurry and had told her so, and now we have to eat everything before it gets cold. There is a vast difference in the flavors of my choices, so I had to work on the appetizer first. It was excellent! Great flavors and piping hot, served with nacho chips. My meatball sub was also delicious. The bread was fresh, the meatballs and sauce were good and the right amount of cheese. Our server wasn't super attentive on refills, but we managed. This could have easily been a 5 star review with just a few tweaks.

Atmosphere - Located near the museums and the Straz, the place is more a pub than a restaurant. Having said this, the bar is tiny. There are 4 stools at the bar and there are about a dozen high tops. There is also a very small patio area in front of the entrance. It was disgustingly filthy. The tables were not clean and there were cigarette butts on the floor. Service - Our server was pleasant, but service was spotty. We ordered the crab artichoke dip as a starter. From our table I could see that the dish sitting in the kitchen window, ready for delivery to our table. However, the dish sat for nearly 10 minutes while our server and the other 2 servers focused entirely on taking care of drink orders at the bar. Food - The menu is extremely limited and a bit eclectic. The dip was very good. However, at other restaurants the dip was served with a pita and this dip came with nacho chips, which were very salty. I ordered the French Dip sandwich at the recommendation of our server. As advertised, the beef was very tender and the baguette was very fresh! Sadly, the beef and the Au Jus was cold! We didn't have time to have time to have my sandwich remade so I finished it. In the end, our server was considerate enough to comp the sandwich, which I did not request, but greatly appreciated. Overall Value - Good. The dip was good and had my sandwich not been cold, I am certain that it would have been delicious. The prices are reasonable.

We stopped here while traveling through town. Loved that it was in walking distance of the Marriott so we could go there trouble free. The food was the best around and it was a very comfortable place to hang out into the evening. Good beer, food, and great service.

I'm currently sitting in the restaurant writing my review. This is my first time here and I'm already disappointed. I came with a party of 20+ and even though we had a reservation for 1:30 and the establishment did not have our tables set up, as more of our party arrived they had to stand which I think is unacceptable. And not to mention how unbelievably hot it is, it is a small space so im not sure if the AC is broken or what but most of the patrons were using their menus to fan themselves. Music is so loud you have to basically yell to be able to have a conversation with someone sitting across from you. They brought out some waters in those club plastic cups which is interesting considering it looks to be somewhat upscale you would think they would have actual glasses. Around 2:14 they started to move us over to where we should have been sitting in the first place. Additional downside to this is there was still another party sitting in our space and they were not gonna move them because they had already received their food. I have never seen something so unorganized in my life. As far as the menu...it is very small with minimal options and if you want to look at the drinks, get your phone out because you will have to go online to read it. It would be nice to have a paper option as well. I don't think it is necessary to look at an online menu if I'm in person. As far as service it didn't appear that they had enough servers to accommodate the amount of traffic they had. Our party alone should have had at least 3. I really was hoping that my review would be able to turn around and end well but based on the lack of good customer service and experience this far I decided not to order anything and take my business elsewhere. Overall I would still encourage you to try this establishment because your experience might be different than mine. Additional: 4 of my family members ended up canceling their orders because it took over an hour to bring out a pretzel with beer cheese and tostinos chips and some dip.

I would knock this up to a 3 1/2 if I could...this really is a fun place to spend some time. Usually solid service...just a couple things that you need to be ready for. First off, the bar is tucked away in a far corner and not big at all. Be ready to stand a few people deep to get your drink if you aren't already seated somewhere. Secondly, the outdoor area has some comfy seating, but you are right on the street, and at an intersection to boot. It can get quite loud. Overall though, really a pretty solid place that is a little off the beaten path. I would recommend it for a drink or two, and then hit one of the myriad of restaurants just a block or two away.

    The Nachos with "steak".
    Kilsis J.

We had reservations as it was cinco de Mayo. Our waitress was really nice. They had Corona on special and 5 dollar shots. We went because of cinco de Mayo but they had nachos and Tacos anc those were the only Mexican food choices. We got the nachos and I would say unfortunately its the worst nachos we ever had. We got them with "steak" and it felt like lunch meat steak. I gave them a 3 based on waitress, hostesses and drink. We were very disappointed and left after we finished our drinks. We did eat the nachos because we were hungry, I don't recommend them.

Sooo Taps is a chill restaurant bar to grab a bite to eat and/or drink. They have TVs if you are interested in watching some sports. I was able to grab a high-top table to myself. The waiter was very friendly and made good menu suggestions. I enjoyed the appetizer and dessert more than my main meal. I think they were on a limited menu due to COVID but that might have changed. A good spot for friends or a nice date night. What was ordered: Tuna Crudo / Lechon Asado Pork Tacos / New York Cheesecake Tuna Crudo = Give me more Lechon Asado Pork Tacos = Over cooked maybe? more sauce maybe? New York Cheesecake = Strong finish to the meal

Food was good, we had appetizers before the Missy Eliot concert. We sat at the bar and the service was awful. It was busy but our bartender Adam was rude, dismissive, ignored us, and treated us different compared to our white counterparts sitting near us. It was blatant and unacceptable. Treat customers well no matter what, I was so disappointed!

    Baked Meatballs
    Quinessa H.

Visited TAPS on a random Monday for karaoke. It wasn't crowded and service was pretty efficient. I ordered the meatballs at the recommendation of someone who frequently visits the establishment...bad decision. They appear to be a mix of ground beef and pork but when cutting into them they were very dry. The tomato-based sauce was OK but it definitely could've been seasoned a lot more. I'd visit again for karaoke and drinks but the menu leaves a few things to be desired. Did I mention they have hookah!

    Beer Queso Nachos
    Amber N.

The indoor decor is calming natural colors and wood. There were very few people when we went on a Saturday for a late lunch. They have a simple menu with inexpensive prices. Staff were wearing masks. I tried the beer queso nachos with pulled pork. It should have more pork for the amount of chips. The plating also impacted the quality of the nachos and messed up the toppings/chip ratio. The smaller plate meant they had to stack the nachos higher and leave extra layers of chips completely dry while top layer was overly sauced and soggy. Switching to a bigger plate would allow the nacho topping to be spread more evenly. The queso is amazing and the chips that I built to have a good topping ratio were enjoyable.

The ambiance was nice. A lot of eclectic paintings on the walls. And loved the outfits of the servers. Very 20's speakeasy. There is a live jazz band that started performing at 7 pm. They were good but at some points it was a bit difficult to speak and listen to those at your table unless you got really close. My meal hit the spot. We started with a charcuterie board for the table. It had a lot of great options like dried apricots, actual honeycomb pieces, and my most favorite cheese, some Brie cheese. The only thing was there was only 4 pieces of bread, one for each of us, which wasn't enough but I guess it made sense not to fill us up too much. For my main meal I had the sweet potato salad which was very tasty and the sweet potato risotto, which a little spicy kick. The only thing I missed was the Brussels sprouts and potatoes but was told that was from the previous chef. But they serve you enough so you definitely will have left overs. Not a big fan of eating in the lounge areas, those are best just for drinks and maybe desserts. But it's definitely a great place to people watch. You will definitely have a meal and a show no matter what. Hopefully can schedule another time to bring my family because I know they would love it.

Once I got inside, I couldn't figure out why there was a line to begin with. There was plenty of room. It almost felt manufactured, like part of the aesthetic more than a necessity. The best way I can describe the vibe is Instagram in real life. It felt like people were there to perform that they know music rather than actually enjoy it together. Lots of standing around. Lots of watching. Not much genuine interaction. The crowd leaned much younger. People were dancing HARD to songs that those of us who grew up in the 2000s would just... dance to. It wasn't bad. It was just an interesting shift in energy. The ratio was probably 80% women, 20% men. The men weren't buying drinks, weren't really approaching women, weren't creating much social energy. They mostly lingered and watched the room. Overall, I left feeling like I paid for aesthetics instead of atmosphere. If that's what you're looking for, you'll probably enjoy it. For me, one drink and parking came out to over $50, and the experience simply didn't justify that. Limited lace night food menu Friendly staff
