I used TAPS to tent my house late last year. Overall the tenting looked good. As far as the gas and death by gas's to the termites "who's to say if it worked or not" My one star is not because of that. My one star is because they broke my .chimney spark arrestor and left it broken on top of the roof without saying anything they also broke two pipes that were sticking out of the ground for irrigation and again said nothing I repaired everything myself and bought a new chimney spark arrestor and had it installed cost to me was $450 I said nothing to them however here is your review. I'm not even a customer. I'm a neighbor of someone who had work done by them. First of all taps, presentation is extremely important. and one of your employees looks like he can use a shower and needs to pull his pants up. very bad look especially in a family neighborhood in willow glen. and far worse. smoking pot in his truck while working? HORRENDOUS. I was real close to calling law enforcement. After he goes on his phone throwing out the N word multiple times and cursing up a storm. All while parked in front of my house. there was a second guy there but whatever he came out a few times to grab tools and stuff smiled and gave me a "morning" but didn't do anything about his colleague. i did walk over the following day and saw the work performed and couldn't find it so I'm assuming that's a good thing. This people are a joke! We got our tenting and repairs done with them. Tent went up on 4/17 and repairs were supposed to start on Monday 4/22 and NO ONE showed up & they didn't have the decency to give us a call and let us know. Tuesday a guy showed up at 9 something and mentioned he wouldn't be back till Thursday, my husband and I were trying to be understanding so tried to let it slide it's now Monday 4/29 and the job isn't half way completed. We called and spoke with someone in the office on Friday 4/26 and they said they would bring 2 guys to finish the job & NO ONE SHOWED UP AGAIN!! Save your self the headaches and do not hire this company!!! My home was left uncompleted , trash on the side gate and nails on my front lawn/drive! 5/15 Job was finally completed and the only person whom cared to make our experience someone better was Darius and Curtis , they took care of everything that was pending. read more

They did not pick up a check for several months even with multiple emails and phone calls. 6 weeks ago I mailed the check and now they are saying I never contacted them at all about payment . After all this aggressive demands, such as calling me at lunch. The new girl stated "we have never hade contact from you". This is ridiculous read more

My review only pertains to localized treatment in two places in my house and not total house fumigation. This company came recommended to me from several colleagues and I chose them over Planet Orange for two reasons: 1) several of my colleagues said after using Planet Orange their termites re-appeared and I wanted mine gone for good, so I didn't mind choosing a company that uses strong, toxic chemicals and 2) their prices were better than Planet Orange. Customer service was good, process was smooth and they even offered a 10% discount for April. Fingers crossed that their local treatment (pumping termite poison into the walls in 2 places) will do the trick and kill these buggers. As such, I'll revise this review in a year's time with an update. read more

We recently had our home inspected for drywood termites. Over the past year , we had 3 individual companies stop by and do a full inspections. Taps was by far the best and thorough inspection process. Tim came by and went through the entire house. He did a full report which opened our eyes about the damage that termites can cause. and there was some moderate damage to the wood structure. After much discussion, research on other companies and reviews of the estimate we decided to do the fumigation. Fumigation is by far the best thing to treat these pests. We had to move out of the home, secure the pets and package all our food items+some belongings.It was an ordeal, but we survived. The front office ( Marjolle) was easy to work with a walked us thru all the paper work. She even called to do a follow up . After a little negotiations we spoke to Fernando ( GM) and settled on a fee and a date that worked for all. A security guard was on duty all four days/nights. Our home was secured. I must say that the entire process was great and the fumigation ( Driskell fumigation) team made sure to be careful with our delicate cactus plants. PG&E also came to reconnect the gas meter. (this is a must). PG&E was great. They were on time and replaced our old meter. We will now have a follow up treatment to mask and remove the pellets. We cannot thank Taps enough for all the great work they performed to rid our home of termites. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone. read more

Great great people to talk with but they are terrible at communication Anything you ask they will tell oh thats in the paperwork you should have looked, sure but i have worked with so many contracting companies they all have some courtesy reminders, updates. Taps do none of that Few experiences: 1. On call I asked if fumigation can be done early morning I was told yes we made a note on that but fumigation people didn't show up until 4 pm, so wasted my day just waiting 2. In my home inspection report I was told one amount and when doing actual work they said they misjudged the work so $250 extra 3. They got gas cut from pge for fumigation which is needed, as first time home owner I didn't know i have to get that done, not their fault but no courtesy of just mentioning that. Probably people will have better experience mine was full of miscommunications and mistakes. I would probably not recommend them They should have list of important to-dos for their customers which they should send before and after service to make experience smoother read more

We have been using TAPS Termite for over 20 years at our house and are very happy with their work. We live in an area where there many hungry termites, and they love to eat the houses in our neighborhood! Gary Meyer is the best inspector who reliably finds the critters and other problems. We have the house inspected every year or two and when the termites return, the TAPS crew gets rid of them without having to tent the house, and they also make other repairs found during the inspections. Several years ago, when doing a remodeling, we had Gary check out the normally hidden spaces behind walls and he found lots of issues which we resolved. By the way, if you have leaking plumbing, have it fixed immediately! Wet wood is a banquet invitation to termites! (We found out the hard way a while back). I strongly recommend periodic inspections. The cost is reasonable. If no problem is found, you have the peace of mind of knowing that everything is OK. If not, then you know that you have to take corrective action before small problems become giant ones. read more

Amazing job by Darius and team. They were quick to conduct inspection on a new property I bought, provided me the estimates for the repairs and then did the fumigation and termite work in 3 days. Darius also stopped by to re inspect a dry rot behind a dry wall and told me that this is a non issues and is insignificant and saved me a bunch of money by not having to remove the tiles and replace the subfloor at this time. We just bought a home and wanted to get a second opinion on the state of the termite issue. TAPS came out to evaluate our property before we closed WITHOUT charging additional fees. We went to two other competitors who both said they wouldn't even consider putting us on the books until after we closed AND they would be charging $400 just for a quote.They also provided a thorough explanation of the tenting service which eased our concerns about the health and safety of our kids. We scheduled a buyer's inspection with TAPS termite at the recommendation of our realtor. We had a buyer contingency valid till one day after the estimate. We made it point to be at the inspection site during the inspection. Darius was the inspector from TAPS termite. He was on time for the inspection which was good. After the inspection we asked him on a quick summary and he mentioned just two items: 1. fumigation and 2. a reinforcement of a girder with some termite damage. We requested if a very approximate estimate of repairs for section 1 items would be possible by the next day, to which he agreed. So far, so good. After, that things it was all downhill. 1. We did not hear back from the company at all. 2. Our realtor kept pinging us whether we heard anything because neither of us had. 3. Given the limited info we had we removed the contingency without any negotiating assuming just the two major items Darius had mentioned. 4. I emailed them again a couple of days after, requesting for the report. They said they apologized and will have it the next day. 5. Nopes! still no report. 6. Finally after the weekend on the following Monday we got the report, with other major items like termite damage to the siding, and more subfloor issues which were not even hinted at during the post-inspection debrief. And this was the experience we had when our realtor knew the owner. Definitely would not recommend the company based on our experience. read more

We still have no idea why we agreed for these guys to show up with a $75 inspection fee where ALL other companies offer FREE inspections!! Planet Orange ....etc who offer similar services without the upfront fee! Well, we learned a valuable lesson here and didn't want you to repeat it cause the decision NOT to use TAPS Termite will cost you $75 and there is NO justification for it in given the fact that competing companies are offering identical reports for FREE. The annoying part is that they use the inspection fee as a STICK to pound you into submission and force the customers to give them the business. In our case, the warranty offered by Planet Orange was much more superior and we are headed their way. I was just wondering if the Car Dealers implemented similar practices of charging buyers for a Test Drive!! They will make a killing even if the buyers decide NOT to buy from them!! Throughout our home-buying and moving process I have worked with countless contractors and inspectors and TAPS has stood out head and shoulders above as a great business. We used TAPS for our pest Inspection and repairs. Lynda was an absolute joy to work with on scheduling (we had a very short inspection period and she worked hard to get us in the schedule and then worked patiently as we went back and forth about what we did and did not want them to repair until we finally had to worked out). On the day of our inspection, Gary came out and spent hours walking us through the house and discussing areas of concern. He was knowledgeable and realistic about solutions and helped keep things in perspective about the extent of our problems relative to others in the area. He was also totally realistic about the repairs that needed to be made, as opposed to those which could wait or were not strictly needed. I always love it when inspectors and contractors are kind of geeky about their jobs, because it means they love what they do and are knowledgeable, Gary is one of those guys. You can tell he likes his job and that he is good at it just by talking to him. As I mentioned above, we also had TAPS do all of our termite work (subcontracted tenting, local treatments and some wood / handy work related to termite / dryrot damage). They did a perfect job. They showed up on time, worked quickly, charged exactly what they said they would, discussed projects with us before changing any plan of action and interfaced very well with our other contractors (especially our awesomely talented but very persnickety roofer, with whom TAPS worked to save our roof shingles so our house didn't end up looking like a patch work quilt). TAPS left our house fixed and clean to the extent that it looks just like it did before they did the work but now it's safe and pest free. It's a real pleasure to work with a company as professional as TAPS and while I hope to never have to worry about termite repairs in the future, it's nice to know I have a company I can count on if I do and it's a great joy to recommend them others. read more

Later, before the appointment, received a contract via email that TAPS demands be signed. No mention of a contract when the appointment was made. The contract terms and conditions are not customer friendly. Electronic take it or leave it contract with no way to discuss or amend. Very off-putting experience. The folks here are GREAT! I've been in the real estate business for almost 25 years, and have worked w/many termite companies. Hands down - customer service at TAPS is one of the best. It is always easy to reach Fernando - whether it be via phone or email - to discuss any scheduling concerns. I just closed a transaction for my client/seller in which the buyer's lender had a last-minute requirement to have a termite clearance -- but the transaction should have been as-is. This new requirement would have delayed the closing for at least 7 days. Discussed the situation w/Fernando and we brainstormed several solutions that helped the timing. The additional documentation needed to satisfy the lender could have also been a hurdle. However, Lynda is very accommodating and supported this effort -- with the patience of a saint! These people are rude and unprofessional. The woman scheduling appointments seems really put out. We missed our appointment due to a personal emergency and tried apologetically to reschedule the same day. We were informed we would receive a $150 cancellation fee because they pay their techs regardless. Obviously we passed on rescheduling. There is no place on their website that states there is a cancellation fee. I'm pretty sure its not legal to charge in the absence of clear policy and we are looking to report them. I'd rather have termites eat our house than do business with these people! $150!!!! read more
