Been at this restaurant a few times a few years ago. Decode to revisit and get one of their combos: Longanisa, fried chicken, lechon kawali, garlic rice and eggs. Longanisa- sweet pork sausage; came with 3 pieces. Wish they were grilled. Seemed like just boiled. Juicy but not too fatty. Fried Chicken - crispy thin skin. Had a funny taste to it. Not sure if it's their seasoning or the chicken was freezer burnt. Lechon Kawali - this was the best meat in the combo. Crunchy fried outside but juicy at the same time. Good ratio of fat to meat. Yummy. Garlic rice was not oily and good serving size. Also had 2 over medium eggs. Came with pickled cucumber in sweet vinegar brine. Also came with 3 dips: ketchup, vinegar and the sweet peppery lechon sauce. Cost $30. Nice staff. 3 Stars then and now.

It's been awhile since I last visited Tapsilog Bistro. A nice festive place with mostly inside seating. The service was friendly, informative, and helpful. He also told me of their other location in Santa Clara called Tapsilog Cantina. Pork Inihaw Na Liempo: Griddled european pork belly with skin marinated pinoy style (3/5). I ordered it with garlic rice. The rice had some hard inedible things in it. Also the pork belly was a bit chewy and saltier than expected. The pickled julienned cucumbers were delicious! Pork Tocilog: Marinated sweetened pork, aka Filipino sweet bacon (no pic). We also had the pork skewers, chicken skewers which we thought were delicious and done well! Also, we tried the and bistek and sizzling pork sisig but felt both was overly salty.

First time going to a Filipino restaurant. The food was fresh, hot, and tasty. Everything was cooked well. Recommend the fried pork and sinigang. Cute fun decor.

The 3 kids and I were out and about in the South Bay and everyone started to get hungry, D1 wanted Filipino food and none of us had been here before so it was worth a check out. In a random strip mall with nothing much in it, however plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoors. Cute setup inside, tables with sungka boards and shells. Banana leaves. Cute. Menu was pretty extensive but we opted for silogs, and the girls shared. The girls had the bistek and sisig, SonShine had the sisig and lechon kawali, and I had the bangus and inihaw na liempo. Everything was YUM to the max. Flavored well, not too salty or oily. We wish it wasn't so far for us, but we have plenty of yummy places here where we are too. If you're in that area definitely check it out.

A hole in the wall spot in a small plaza with lots of parking. Picked up an order to go but the restaurant had such a comforting ambiance that I would want to come back to dine in. Our order was ready sooner than the expected time and the staff was very friendly when picking up the order. Items Ordered: - Lumpia Shanghai: Comes with 20 pieces of lumpia and spicy sweet and sour sauce or vinegar garlic dipping sauce. Can share between 2-4 people and always goes well with the spicy sweet and sour sauce. - Grand Silog 3 meats 1 egg: Picked the sisilog, longsilog, pork lechon kawali silog for the meats. I liked the flavor of the sisilog which wasn't too salty. Came with 3 pieces of longsilog which were very tasty. Pork lechon kawali was very dry and came with 3-4 pieces. - Pansit Guisado noodles: HUGE portion of pansit noodles and came with 4 slices of lime. Flavor was good overall, maybe just a tad more flavor would make the dish great.

Sisig, thick hard pieces of pork. Not tender at all.

How could Chicken Adobo (all dark meat) be sooooo dry? No sauce or gravy and served over spinach leaves??? The sisig also was dry and over cooked. Not tender and no soy/vinegar sauce. If someone is experiencing Filipino food for the first time and ordered these 2 items, they would not return. So sad. Adobo and sisig is slowly cooked and the juices meld into the sauce creating a savory dish. For shame!

I've been wanting to swing by Tapsilog and today I finally did. We went around 9:45-10am. I ordered a 3 meat bilao. I chose longanisa, sisig and pancit as my 3 "meats". I think for the price the portion size is super generous and I left with leftovers. You can never go wrong with longanisa. The pork sisig was nicely cooked and super flavorful. The pancit was super light but I kept wanting to eat more! Overall, it hit the spot. I've been craving Filipino food for awhile now and I'm so happy my craving is finally satisfied! The service was wonderful and I love all the decor! Highly recommend!

Returned for a few times already! Food is so good here. I love lumpia the best. I like that their plate option allows you to try out multiple items the same time. Can't wait to go back and try more other stuff. Service was great. Staff were friendly and attentive. Ambiance: great for hanging out with friends and casual setting. Plenty of parking outside

tapsilog bistro in the south Bay is my new favorite go to Filipino place in San Jose Their ambience had a lot of Filipino culture inside along the wall. The service was pretty good, fast, as good as the food. Can't wait to visit with friends again

Despite the dishes looking small it was actually quite filling but I'm quite disappointed with the flavors. Not worth the price for the off flavors imo. The garlic rice barely had any garlic flavor and it was dry. Just tasted like plain white rice with the tiiiiinnniiiest hint of garlic. Chicken adobo was too salty despite it being fall off the bone tender. Longanisa was good though. Also got a halo halo but thought it tasted like watered down milk :( and was majority just ice

Came here on a whim honestly. I was at Marvel to pick up a cake order, but it wasn't ready. I then ended up coming here, well 1, I was hungry, and 2 I've been craving Filipino food for the longest. Originally, I was looking to dine outside because I had my pup with me. But the young lady who was serving was so kind and made accommodations since it was so hot outside, seating us inside while the pup was in his stroller. *Yes, I'm that dog mom* While I wanted to order sago gullaman, they ran out of tapioca pearls. it's okay though because she served it with jelly instead which sufficed my cravings. I ordered the Kare-Kare which was super good. Made miss my mom's cooking so much. To be honest I may even think of doing a boodle fight catering because I haven't tried yet, so that would be a new experience. Especially, with the service. I do plan to come back.

    Halo halo

Came here with family and it truly feels like a homey hole in the wall spot. The location has so much personality and I love it. There was a big party the day we went so it was loud inside there but we didn't mind. The food was amazing, very flavorful and many different options. It truly tasted authentic. The service was good, they were busy because of the party because so things took some time and some things were sold out but overall they were very accommodating. We would come back again for the food!

Is this a decent sit down experience or more fast food/casual with only disposable plates and cutlery? From the picture it seems more fast food/casual on paper plates but wanted to confirm.

This eatery is more of a casual dining with disposable plates.

Are you planning to open later on evenings and Sundays? I was there at 2:45 last Sunday and was told the restaurant was closed; used to come here regularly but since you're not open very many hours, I haven't been able to eat there.

Hi Alan, Thank you for contacting me directly. We are so short staffed that we are just having difficulties finding good help out there. A lot of people left our industry to…

    Do you sell whole lechon?

    we do not sell lechon.

Do they have Arroz Caldo and Pinkabet? I don't see where the arroz caldo is listed on the menu or on Doordash. What is the name for it?

arroz caldo we do, haven’t started our pakbet yet , Only at our Cantina/Santa Clara location please.

    Are you dog friendly?

I am, i like dogs. They are a man's best friend. Even if they make TAE everywhere.

Do they carry tableya for champorado?

Before your closing hours, what time is the last phone order for pick up? I tried calling on Sunday at 2:30pm and nobody answered the phone. We drove over and walked inside at 2:50pm only to be told you all were closed-kitchen cleaned.

When ever they feel like closing the doors or do not wish to help anyone. That is when they just tell people that the kitchen is closed. I have watched them pick up the phone and just hang it up without saying a word. Walk by the ringing phone…

How much is the frozen tacino?

    I believe it's 7.95 a tray

Was wondering if I should call a few days in advance to order leche flan since it's not on the regular menu?

Yes one of my employee makes it for us and I can have it ready for you just let me know a couple days in advance and how many you want and she will make it for you.

What time do you close today?

We close at 4 PM today.

Do you sell frozen lumpia to go?

Yes we do 29.50 for 4 pounds/110 pieces.

Do they sell lumpia party platters?

Yes we have thousands of them always ready to go. You don’t need to pre-order them just come by at the restaurant or at the market, and it takes us less than 10 minutes to cook them for you. This way you assured that you’re walking out fresh and hot.

Is the Taho menu item in-season? If not, what season?

Hi there, it is available now at our market and we plan on carrying it regularly.

I know it's a long shot when it comes to asian type cuisine. My wife has a gluten allergy, do you serve any gluten free items on your menu other than the usual salads?…

Hi there, Good thing with Filipino food it is, it’s mostly meat and rice. So yes most of our menu are gluten-free.

Are you guys open on New Year Eve for lunch?

Hi there, we are always closed every Monday. But we are open regular hours on January 1.

Does the restaurant close between lunch and dinner? Went here on a Thursday at 2:45 and it was closed. :(

We do not close.. we’re open 11-9 straight

Do they serve taho all day (i.e. could I order hot taho for dessert after dinner)?

Hi there, we are temporarily suspending taho. We will put it back coming winter. It doesn’t really sell around summertime.

How come it say on yelp that theyre currently closed?

    We are closed on Mondays

    What time do they open?

Today (Sat) at 9am. Just ate there today. Haha

The important thing is to sort of ignore all the AI-generated images and trust that they will feed you well. Friends have been going here or to their other location for years and it's been delicious! Good portion sizes, in my opinion. They were a lot busier than last time we were here, because of the World Cup finals - so service was a little slower. We did not get the included soup but we were vibing with the unlimited mimosas and didn't mind (otherwise we would have asked). The unlimited mimosas were a good deal - they ask you which juices you'd like and drop it off at your table, and the champagne is self-serve - we went through 2-3 bottles I think! Shanghai lumpias were delicious and piping hot and my friends enjoyed their loco mocos. I enjoyed the chicken fried steak and those two pieces were crispy and perfectly to my tastes!! We've also enjoyed their silog plates in the past and they were delicious, although the only criticism is that I can't tell that there's garlic in the garlic rice. I definitely recommend Tapsilog Cantina and it's one of our go-to brunches in the area!

It was Father's Day weekend and we decided to check them out. We made reservations and arrived on a Saturday early evening for dinner. The restaurant is located in Los Gatos along side the highway 17 towards Santa Cruz. Parking is accessible out front in the parking lot. From the outside, the restaurant looks like an old western saloon. As soon as you walk towards the entrance, there a patio with plenty of tables that looks inviting. Inside to your left is the bar with plenty of bar stools and a stage area where the live bands perform. The decor is rustic and historic. We chose the AYCE BBQ menu along with a glass of Chardonnay and a glass of Cats American whisky. It's rare for Texas BBQ to be offered as an AYCE so we were excited to try this. All the dishes were delicious. Some of the standout favorites I enjoyed were the cinnamon cornbread, brisket Sisig, St Louis Ribs, and the lumpia. The cornbread was soft, sweet, and moist. Brisket Sisig was different in a good way with grilled onions and tender brisket. Ribs were juicy. Lumpia was crunchy and was complemented perfectly with the mango chili sauce. Our drinks were refreshing. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Cats Restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I found the price to be fair especially for AYCE Texas BBQ. The vibe was bustling and welcoming. Unfortunately we did not hear the live band that was gonna perform since we had to leave to our next engagement. My only gripe was the entrance back to the freeway can be a little hard especially at night and if you have to go on highway 17 towards San Jose. I do hope to come back to bring other family and friends.

I think prices are pretty fair for a bbq stick in the Bay Area. They carry pork bbq, hot dogs, intestine, kwek-kwek, bettamax, pig ears, etc! Although I wish they had fishball or squid ball for even more variety but thats ok. They provide a marinade to brush on while you grill your own BBQ and provide vinegar and another sweet sauce for you to dip it in post-grilling. Overall, the flavor is really good and you can't really go wrong. They carry other items on the menu in which they serve to you such as sisig, pares, siaomai, empanada (available weekends only), lumpia, melon juice, etc. And yes they have rice! I wish I took pictures of the food we ordered but the kids got to it first while we were bbqing. We went on a Thursday evening so it wasn't too crowded but they still kept the party going with karaoke and music. I could imagine the place being full on weekends. The parking could also get tricky in that area if full too. They take cash, Zelle, and card (with surcharge). The grill is located inside in the center of the restaurant so it gets pretty smoky inside even with all the doors open and vents running. So expect to smell like delicious bbq coming out lol.

After watching a review on social media, I decided to try something new. I had to try the cracklin' chicken bites. I ordered the southern fried fish, added the brisket, and the collard greens. After I ordered, I went to the bar to order a gin and tonic. I asked for the Bombay Sapphire gin. Then, it turned into an unreal experience. When I got my drink, I asked the female bartender if she added lemon or lime. She gave me "the look" and said I did not ask for lemon or lime. Taken aback, I told her that I've never had a gin and tonic without lemon or lime. She then replied, "rude". I proceeded to apologize, and then she acquiesced and gave me a garnish. I thanked her and again apologized. She was having none of it. I was in a great mood because I still tipped her. However, it has been bugging me ever since July 25. Hence, my review. Back to the food. My food was delicious, flavorful, and portion sizes were great. In fact, I am taking my parents there today. However, we are going to go to the one on South of Market--just in case I want a gin and tonic. I will be sure to ask for lime this time. :)

The cookies and cream brioche donut was delicious and fluffy, more bready than donut, which makes sense given the brioche. There was a cookies and cream filling too, which was nice, but my only minor complaint is that I wanted more cookies and cream flavor. If I close my eyes, it tastes like a chocolate bun with chocolate cream. The Korean inspired garlic cream cheese bread was also fluffy and delicious, but I was surprised by how sweet it was! It's not overly sweet or anything, but I don't know why I expected a savory bun. This was a combo of garlic butter and sweet cream cheese in a fluffy bun. Still good, but a surprise. The girls working were so nice when I came once and they were sold out of everything. They mentioned that if I contacted them beforehand, I could preorder/order in advance?? I haven't tried that yet, but I just might!

Delicious bbq place…read more My daughter and I grabbed a late lunch here on the way to visit (mom/wife) at the hospital. It was delicious! I had the hotlink and fries. The hotlink was perfectly cooked juicy and just the right amount if spiciness. The French fries were yummy! I think they are fried in lard or beef fat since they were so yummy! Very crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Again they were very tasty! My daughter had the small plate of ribs and a 1/2 pound of brisket. She said she wasn't hungry..... She loved the juicy tender ribs and the tender and juicy brisket as well! She must have really liked it since she coveted the left overs to take home! The ambiance is vey cozy and comfortable to sit in all day long and pass the day by eating delicious bbq! Lovely place!

VERY DISAPPOINTED on how they did me. all the sides were average, nothing to talk about. if i were to ever come back, ill just stick with the beef ribs
