Food: Amazed! This place is definitely underrated in Bay Area. Their drumsticks are actual size not party finger food size. We added the rice cake and it was spot on! Though they didn't write it on the menu, you can actually order half-half with large portion Wings or Drumsticks as well! (Personally we don't like boneless fried chicken in general so we're glad they have this when we asked!) Service: the staff is very helpful and welcoming. Ambiance: it's a small restaurant with limited seating area, but the decorations are very eye-catching and with vibes. I'll definitely come back again either to dine in or take out!

Can't wait to bring some friends here over the weekend!! the chicken wings, and overall portions are huge and so delicious Highly recommend the kimchi fried rice and the soy drumsticks!! the rice cakes on the skewers were also so good and their happy hour menu looked amazing. Can't wait to come back here! The staff are all so nice :-)

We ordered takeout from MoDak and got a variety of things (all pictures attached). It is right off of 280, super convenient. The restaurant is a little hole in the wall with slightly sticky floors, and a lot of character. Even though I mention sticky floors, everything looked and felt clean otherwise. The person at the register that greeted us took our order and was friendly. We ordered boneless 1/2 yangyum and 1/2 soy garlic. We were able to ask for a spice level on the first and went with spicy, but it was pretty tame. Everything we ordered had great flavor and had good portions. I can see us going back!

I am absolutely blown away by this place! I had a craving for black bean noodles and a quick Yelp search led me here. I decided to order a few other items to try out as well. I got the sotteok sotteok , black bean noodles, and a 10-piece chicken in yangnyum and savory soy. Everything is made to order, so it took about 20-25 minutes for the food to arrive. The portion sizes are huge, so I recommend sharing with a group!. The black bean noodles were my favorite and loved that they used udon noodles. They were bouncy and perfectly cooked, and the black bean sauce was to die for. If you visit, you definitely need to try the Sotteok Sotteok as well. It's coated in cheese and a sweet/tangy sauce. Absolutely delicious and love the crunch of the rice cake. My only critique is that the sauce on the chicken wings wasn't evenly distributed (as seen in the picture), and I would have preferred a more even coating rather than just having it poured on top of the wings. The restaurant has a TV playing music videos, which can make the atmosphere feel a bit loud if you're sitting nearby. Give this place a try:)

Loved the spam and egg kimbap!

There's a reason this place is so highly rated. Really nice variety of Korean food and love the selection of kimbap (Korean sushi). A solid Korean restaurant with a lot to offer. The flavors were so nice to experience and much better than I expected. Will definitely be coming back here. FOOD: We ordered a variety of stuff. I got the bulgogi beef bowl which surprisingly wasn't overloaded with veggies but had a blend of rice, beef, broccoli, and japchae (glass noodles). A little heavy on the sesame oil, but tasted so good. Could use more beef to rice ratio but I would definitely order again. The ttok was also solid tasting and I enjoyed the mandu (pot stickers). The kimbap was the best of the dishes we ordered and can't wait to try more. SERVICE: We did this as a DoorDash so did not talk to anyone in person, but the presentation was good, the packaging was solid, and the portion size was nice. Not extravagant, but enough. COST: Really good for what you get. Can't complain with what we ordered. Some of the dishes did seem outsized for the price, but so tasty.

I was a bit worried about coming in at 7 PM on a Saturday night. I thought it might be crowded and have to wait. However, there was just one other occupied table, and they came in just before me. There's a nice selection of items on the menu but we came in with Korean chicken in mind. We got the combo, which gave us wings, drumsticks, and boneless. Oh, got a side of the regular fries also. The cook was incredible. Crispy on the outside and moist and tender in the middle. You can have your chicken pre-sauced or have it on the side. We had it on the side and I think this was the way to go as it kept the chicken nice and crispy. So, food-wise, it was great. However the big thing I noticed is that they use disposable paper plates. Environmentally, that's a lot of waste and it didn't add much to the dining experience. Speaking of the experience and environment, it's kind of an eclectic place. See my photos.... There was only one persons working the front but I guess that's ok given that they only have about 6 tables and a row of counter seats. Service was just a tad slow but the young woman did the best she could. I would come back again, perhaps to try something else.

Chicken wings are pretty good. We order 10 pieces with two types of sauce. I liked spicy sauce. Two side dishes were included - radish pickle and coleslaw. The rice cake skewers were really tasty! I would come again for the rice cake skewers! I believed that non-paper plate would make the food even better taste. The staff were very nice and friendly as well as offered good suggestions of food. It is pity that they don't have crispy chicken skin on the menu anymore.... The restaurant is a very casual one for handing out with friends.

Kodak Korean Chicken has been on my radar for a long time! I finally got the chance to try them out. They are located in the big plaza with Lion Market, but closer to Starbucks. Parking is plentiful here. Ambience: Nicely decorated, hip, and just a great place to chill. Korean music videos provides the vibe. One large LCD Tv. They offer outside seating and inside seating with tables and counter seating. Large parties might be challenging. It's best if you call to inquire about larger parties greater than 4+ people. One unisex restroom only! Two kiosks for takeout orders. Otherwise each table has their own kiosk to order from. Service: The service was very friendly and nice. She knew I was a noob and explained how things worked. They were also out of certain skewers items. Food: Korean Ice Coffee - served with a circular ice cube; pretty cool. The coffee was delicious. Regular Chicken (Wings) with Savory Soy. I got the option to have the sauce on the wings. It was a light battered similar to the kind on fish & Chips. So, it was deep fried to a golden brown but had a crispness to it. I wish the sauce was sweeter but it was just ok. I'd like to try their other flavors next time. The radish and cabbage slaw really helped give you the tart flavor with a crunchy texture and different flavor profile. Overall, a pretty decent meal. I'd give them a 3.5 stars but rounding up for food, ambience and service. Support your local business.

    Soy Chicken Drumsticks (6)
    Nathaniel K.

TLDR: Love the Soy Chicken! It's a small spot, nestled between Starbucks and Tandoori Cafe (which moved from Lawrence Expwy). I got there on a Thurs night, near 7p, and it was pretty empty. I was a little concerned, but it was getting late, and I was hungry. So I chose a table, and ordered from the tablet, which every table had. I like that... less waiter interaction, the better! So I ordered a small order of drumsticks, with the Savory Soy sauce (DIFFERENT from Soy Sauce!). I like that it wasn't sticky. I hate it if it sticks to my teeth. The skin was fried very well, while the meat inside was still flavorful, and juicy. The drumsticks are pretty large as well. I am a moderately big guy, and 3 drumsticks filled me up quite satisfactorily. Oh, and I also finished off an entire plate of fried dumplings. hehe. The fried dumplings were really good as well. I loved the crunchiness, and the meat wasn't too dense. I also enjoyed the dipping sauce it came with, a bit tangy and salty. All in all, perhaps my hunger seasoned my meal, but I think I'm self-aware enough to know that the food simply tastes delicious. I'm excited to bring my wife here to try!

Korean fried chicken is one of my favorite types of chicken. I like to try as many Korean fried chicken restaurants as possible since they all usually do a good job with making their chicken. We arrived at MoDak Korean Chicken for a Sunday late lunch. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza area off Stevens Creek and Saratoga Avenue. Parking is accessible in the small parking lot. There was definitely a K-pop influence and aura with the music and posters in the restaurant. A kiosk for to go food is available when you walk in as well. We ordered a large 20 piece of chicken wings with savory soy and honey delight flavors and 2 steam rice. The chicken had a nice crunchy texture and both flavors were sweet and delicious. Unfortunately the steam rice was cold. The side of daikon was a nice addition. Overall we enjoyed our experience at MoDak. The food was just the right amount for our family of 3. The staff was friendly and accommodating. If I am ever in the area and I'm feeling Korean fried chicken, I'll definitely be back.

The food is VERY savory. This place has one of the best battered fried and wings, thick and crunchy. Im a huge fan of their cheese toppings. Serving sizes are generous. Ambiance was appropriate, with K-pop playing on the tv. Parking is very narrow and limited, although not too far from adjacent plaza parking. Good experience.

    Creamion Wings
    Vivian P.

Came here on a Wednesday around 2PM and was immediately seated! The restaurant is pretty roomy and cozy. Our server was also very helpful and friendly. We got the Creamion and Yangnyum wings and both were so delicious! But my favorite was the Creamion wings - they were so creamy and flavorful. I 100% recommend these wings if you like a creamy onion flavor. I would come back to try other items on their menu and the Creamion wings again!

One of the better Korean fried chicken spots I've tried in the bay area! I got the Sotteok Sotteok, which was a perfect combo of chewy rice cakes and savory sausage--really tasty, but a bit small for the price. The fried chicken itself was crispy and flavorful; I'd order from here again and honestly think it's better than Bonchon. Takeout was great too. You could pick as many sauces as you wanted, which was amazing--we tried a bit of everything! They were generous with the sauces: cheese dust, creamion, yangnyeom, and savory soy were all really good. Creamion was my favorite, and I'll definitely be ordering extra next time. Piece sizes were a bit varied, with some small ones--next time I'll just stick to drumsticks.

I came with a couple of friends around 6PM on a Friday and barely made it before the dinner rush. As soon as we sat down, a large crowd started lining up to put their names on the waitlist. It's a small, casual restaurant with limited seating, but they turn tables over quickly. They've added tablets at each table where you can browse photos of the menu and place your order. They also leave a bottle of water at the table, so service is pretty minimal. The banchan arrived almost immediately after we ordered, followed shortly by our meals. The banchan is always fresh and flavorful, with each dish seasoned differently so every bite has a unique taste. We all ordered the beef tofu soup but customized it to our liking. I went with medium spice and added mandu (dumplings). The portion was huge and came with rice on the side. The medium spice actually had a good kick, unlike at some places where it's too mild. It was packed with tofu and tender beef, and I had enough leftovers for another meal. It was my first time adding mandu, which tasted good but out of place. I'll probably pass on that next time. This is my go-to spot to catch up with friends, and we always leave happy. If you're planning to come for dinner, get here early or be prepared to wait.

While not as good as served on the hot stone in store, the bibimbap was still pretty tasty! It had a wide variety of toppings such as sunny side egg, seaweed, carrots, cucumber, and bean sprouts. The sauce was the highlight. It was a little spicy but added a lot of flavors to the rice. Beef bulgogi was tender and sweet. Kimchi pancake came with a generous portion of kimchi and the pancake was super crispy, and it was our favorite out of the three dishes we ordered! Each main dish also came with a few side dishes such as kimchi and tofu. Parking was relatively easy in the plaza. The restaurant indoor looked small and busy during peak hours. Overall I thought it was a great restaurant for Korean food. Would love to come back to try their tofu soups when the weather is cooler.

The beef soup came boiling, and there was a generous amount of beef, mushrooms, and tofu. The only complaint I have is the soup ratio was less than what I'm used to so about halfway through the pot there wasn't much soup left to pour onto the rice the way I normally do. But that's not a bad thing, means you're getting more protein! Service was great, but it's a bit expensive from what I'm used to so I docked a star. I'll check out other places and see if this is just the normal pricing for the area.

The restaurant was very clean, cozy, and welcoming. The side dishes were fresh and tasty, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. We're so glad we came back, and we'll definitely be returning again. Highly recommend Omogari to anyone looking for authentic and delicious Korean food in San Jose!

According to the notes on my phone, I have some updates for you for SJ Omogari. ha ha!…read more A noteworthy change is that they now have outdoor seating with a covered patio. Also, even though there is a small parking lot behind their building, do not park there. That is for employees only. And before you ask, no, I did not park there. I'm a rule follower. Just sharing for your information. There is always plenty of street parking. Just make sure you feed your meter. I paid $3 for an hour and a half of parking. Again, this update is after multiple meals with different people. SJ Omogari continues to be a go to favorite, especially if you want Meat Jun. I've tried it at other restaurants, and none come close to the flavorful, tender version from SJ Omogari. My friend and I had lunch at SJ Omogari yesterday. The tables seemed very close together. It's good for the restaurant to get more people, but it felt a little closed in for my personal space preferences. This was my friend's first visit, and she loved it! I ordered Meat Jun (duh), and we shared a dumpling tofu soup. I was feeling bold, so we asked for medium spicy. I was sweating, but it was very flavorful and I kept eating as the sweat dripped down my head. My friend ordered the chicken bibimbap, which SJ Omogari calls, "Chicken Ricebowl." That stone bowl was SUPER HOT! It was sizzling when served, and we could still see steam as she packed up her leftovers! My friend loved the crispy rice on the bottom. SJ Omogari is on the pricy side, but still worth it. Go!

This wasn't too much of an issue, and we ended up ordering cheese corn, pork tofu soup, and the galbijjim. Though the wait staff was a one-man show, he was efficient, kind, and attentive. Kept us stocked with water and got us whatever we needed right away (ladle, bowl, etc). Banchan came out almost immediately after ordering. The food was really yummy. One of my friends and I are sensitive to spicy foods, so we were a bit intimidated when the food came out RED. However, the spice level was truly mild and just a little kick of heat. The galbi was extremely tender and everything was well seasoned. My only other issue is the prices are a bit high. You can get similar food for a couple bucks less at spots in Santa Clara. Overall, a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to come back again!

We ordered the Iron Plate Seafood Pancake, Seafood Bibimbap, LA Style Grilled Beef Ribs, and Grilled Beef Brisket. Overall, food was decent but I felt like the ingredients did not taste especially fresh or of high quality compared to their other location in Milpitas. Super busy atmosphere when we were there and customer service was substandard. Although we didn't have the best dining experience, I'm sad to see this place go!
