That crunchy pork fat situation is real and they don't skimp on portions. Java rice and silogs hit, munggo is hearty, and most of the meat dishes are well-seasoned and tender. This is the type of place you go family-style so you can try a bit of everything. Can't complain about the service. Spot can look a little worn, but you're here for the food, not the aesthetics. My coworker and I got takeout from here for lunch during the week. I ordered a vegetarian fried rice. The fried rice was plentiful, but it was a little oily and just okay. My friends and I were craving Filipino food, so I suggested we come to Toppings Tree. My brother has brought home food from here in the past which was really good, including their Crispy Pata. This time around I ordered the ginisang munggo with pork, which was a hearty mung bean stew with lechon in it! It was piping hot and enough for two people. The people who work here are really kind and patient, and the other people who stay and eat seem to be friends with the staff. Overall a comfy environment with no-frills decor. Unfortunately, I have to knock off a star because our order of lumpia had a couple of pieces which were undercooked inside. Maybe too many pieces in the fryer at once? Eeek! I haven't written an update to Toppings Tree in a loooooooooong time. So many visits, so little time. After COVID, the restaurant hasn't been quite the same. On a recent visit, I drove over only to find they only do to-go orders on Wednesdays. Did you know that? The restaurant and bathroom look a little worse for wear, but the food still satisfies my craving for deep-fried pork fat-give me my lechon kawali, yum! On another visit, we got multiple lechon kawali plates, garlic spinach, and an order of halo halo. In addition to my recent lechon kawali, lumpia, & garlic bok choy, we've also had the Special combo plate. I tried the lechon kawali and crispy chicken combo. The chicken was a leg quarter. This 5 star review is for their catering. I have 2 go to local Filipino restaurants for my catering orders, including this one. It all depends on hours and what I need. Toppings Tree can do same day, especially on weekdays and non-holidays. The planner in me puts in order at least one business day in advance. To celebrate last class of semester, I treated my students to pancit. They prepare several styles of pancit and I ordered them the "guisado" which is only the cellophane/glass noodles. I personally enjoy the "miki-bihon" which is a mixture of cellophane & egg noodles. There is a decent ratio of veggie/protein to noodles. Enjoy as a side dish rather primary source of protein and veggies. Like in Philippine shops in the homeland, they have a mini storefront to buy one of your favorite nostalgic snacks. Pretty reasonable prices was out of luck since I wanted to get their Java rice with the pork chops since that's my go to order here but they didn't have any Java rice. Came here on a Thursday for lunch. It was around 11:30 am so it hadn't gotten busy yet. Parking- gps leads you to the back parking lot. You have to go through the corridor to the front to spot the restaurant. Service- it was good. Food: -Sinigang with shrimp: huge soup. It was a little too lemony for my taste. But my girlfriends who grew up in the Philippines, they liked it. -Liang: it's a mushy tarp leaves. It's not aesthetically pretty but it is very tasty with chucks of delicious roast pork -inihaw na belly bangus: the grilled fish was also very good. -Crispy Pata: this was the BEST and the highlight. A few months ago we came to try this place since we were hungry and have also been to the sister restaurant Toppings Too (great names lol). Mainly, there isn't much of a difference in the food quality, it's the same p=menu items and same price overall. We ordered some of our favs: sizzling sisig and grilled tocino with java rice. both were great as always with great char on the tocino. The main difference though between Toppings Tree and Toppings Too is that this restaurant is much more spacious with plenty of tables and leg room. While Toppings Too is cramped and stuffy at times (which has its own charm as a humble hole in the wall), whereas there's brightness in the restaurant that is a bit more inviting. read more

We decided to try this restaurant while waiting for our latte art class to start. We shared the 3 selection of silog and chose beef tapa, lechon kawali and loganisa. We also added the side of the tomato, onion and salted egg salad. The Java rice was different from the typical garlic rice you'd get with your silog. Location: Being near the downtown college area, there is free parking across the street but may be busy depending on the lunch rush. We came here with our church family and the line outside was long around 12pm-1pm so expect to come early. Food: I recommend everything on the menu honestly but if there is one thing to try first it would be their beef Sinigang. The meat-on-bone was huge yet so soft. The Crispy Pata is cut in large cubes that would have you reaching for your cholesterol medicine after enjoying a few. I looked up the restaurant during the meal to share with a friend and was shocked to see it only had 3 stars. That was certainly not a 3 star spread. This place is near the cafe that I frequent, so I thought I'd get a light snack to eat. I decided to order the calamari, which I believe took about forty or so minutes, before returning home. The ambiance of the restaurant was alright - there were a couple of people there, and it looked clean for the most part. After getting my food, I proceeded to get stuck in traffic multiple times which resulted in me returning home in a bad mood with the hopes that the calamari would somehow redeem it. Unfortunately, it didn't. Some of the pieces were alright, but many of them ended up being soggy. The portion was also a lot to get through, so I had to package some of it as leftovers. The experience could've been better, but I think considering the circumstances that I had the food, I'd probably have to try this place again later. But I didn't. I politely waited till the waitress noticed me and then I chose a table. The menu is extensive and because I couldn't decide what to get, I opted for their combo meal and choose the pork belly and bangus fish and my fiancé got their longsilog. The food was good and it came out in a timely manner. It was enough fat for me to feel like my heart would stop in the middle of my meal and I had enough leftovers to make another meal the next day. Got the grilled longaniza rice plate (with fried egg), and bistek tagalog rice plate, large enough dishes for sharing and/or leftovers. Lots of menu items to choose from, but they don't do bbq skewers here anymore according to the staff. Friendly and efficient service. They seemed quite busy around 6pm on a Monday, but they did get orders out quickly. It was about a 15-minute wait for my order, not bad for hot freshly made food, longanisa sausages with great flavor and a nice char, the bistek a generous portion and made just the way I like it, tender beef slices, nice balance of seasoning not too lemony and not salty, but so good that I'm satisfied just eating saucy rice and sauteed onions. The restaurant has a spacious dining area with plenty of seating, but on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, they're only open for takeout orders. * toppings speciality combo with daing na Bangus (milkfish, pictured left, lechon kawali (top left), and Java rice (pictured right) - the milkfish was one of the items that we liked the most out of what we ordered. It was a little sweeter than other fishes which was pleasant. It was the least oily compared to the other dishes we got. The lechon (pork belly) was huge and crispy. Even though we know it is a very fatty and oily, it stuffed us up real quick. The dipping sauces paired well with the fish and lechon. The Java rice was decent, it added flavor to the sides that we got. With more garlic it can be more fragrant and flavorful. *sizzling sisig - this dish was waaaaay too oily for our liking. Every scoop had oil residue dripping from the spoon. It made us feel very icky and made us lose some of our appetite. We got two spoons and squished the sisig to try and get the oil out. A lot of oil came out. Unfortunately we could not finish this dish. It tasted fine but after a couple of more bites we were over it. * Sinigang of the day (beef) - the sinigang was super sour. This was our first time tasting sinigang and did not expect it to be that sour. The closest we can compare it to is Asian sweet and sour soup, but it was even more sour than you can imagine. The meat itself was very tender and soft, but it was also too fatty. We could also not finish this dish due to its sourness and the fattiness. * halo-halo (not pictured) - probably the best thing out of this restaurant but not the best compared to other halo halo places we have tried. It was straight up sugar but that sugar helped counter all the fat, oils, and sodium we ingested. For $5 not bad but there are better places. Overall, this restaurant was not our favorite. It gave me stomach problems and even throwing up after eating at this restaurant. The staff were friendly, but this place is just not for us. Some may say, I still have stomach problems til this day. Last time I came here was 13 years ago and it was good now I came here and made an order to go and it was awful. We paid 1495 for adobo and rice that they charge me extra four and I'm gonna show you a picture we got half a carton of rice and the adobo was feeling bones. And it didn't taste good. I saw the people around that ate in house and they had big portions, but if you take takeout prepared to have half a carton of rice, even if you pay extra to have the garlic rice and if you want adobo to go prepared to just have bones and I paid extra for the rice and I got less than half a carton and the adobo was a joke. It was all bones .The only thing that was worthwhile was the lumpia and they said it they said it had shrimp and chicken. There was no shrimp but we enjoyed the chicken just like the lumpia. We found literally three shrimp on top f I never found any chicken but it was super salty and it was never good like it used to be. I'm very disappointed because I spent over $50. It was just horrible. I will never go back and I'm so disappointed because I traveled so far to go there because I was craving Filipino food, and I remembered after over a decade that this place used to be good and when I walked around, I saw people with their food with full plates, and when I brought mine to MY Son to share there was nothing to share except the pond that had three shrimps no chicken over salted we threw it away. The food was amazing here! Me and my husband have been exploring Filipino cuisine more and this place is at the top of our list now. When you first arrive you'll place your order at the host station and if they're busy you'll wait, when your food is ready they will seat you. I tried this place for the first time on Thursday 10/09/2025 I ordered the Pancit Bihon, Lechon Kawali, Fried Chicken, and 2 servings of Java Rice. I didn't order a combo plate I actually order the family size order of each dish. Unlike most of the Filipino Restaurants in the area this place makes your order fresh when you order it. While I was waiting for my food at the restaurant I noticed this place is very laidback, nice and quiet with some soft rock playing in the background. The wait was worth it. I ordered the meal for take-away and much to my surprise they handed me 2 large bags of food. I took my bounty to my office and proceeded to chow down - WOW! The food was still very hot and very delicious. I was a little taken aback by how large the portions were on all the dishes - I mean there was "HELLA" food so obviously I couldn't finish it all, NOT EVEN HALF OF THE FOOD. My wife usually goes to Toppings at least once a month to pick up an order of Panncit Miki Bihon and other dishes for her elderly mother. Usually the order is fairly good. Yet on my recent order on Sunday, March 30th, the pancit contained mainly noodles with only 2 shrimp, a smattering of tiny pieces of chicken and hardly any vegetables. When she called and complained to the person on the phone, she received an excuse that "I will check with the cooks in the morning." What a lame and unsatisfactory response. My first time trying proper sisig at an authentic Filipino restaurant. My friend recommended this place since their family comes here often. I would give it 3.5 stars. We got the Sizzling Sisig, which come on a skillet. The pork belly was fatty, crunchy, and oily. There was definitely more fat than meat though. It was seasoned very well and had a lot of depth of flavor when you add the lime on top. I thought that the jalapeños were bell peppers and took a big bite of them... OH MAN, that was spicy. Be careful if you can't take the heat. Keep in mind: Rice is $1.25 extra per person! They give A LOT of rice, which is great since the sisig can be oily. Customer service was okay. They are very straight to the point. Order at the counter, sit down at a table, and pay at the counter.
