It was packed but found 2 seats at the bar so we ordered drinks, was advised not allowed to sit at the bar if not ordering food so ordered a dip trip - honestly house margaritas just ok - felt rushed because of the bar policy - finished up our drinks and exited

Be prepared to wait in line. The margaritas were premade, which isn't my favorite. The food though was great. The trio salsa was a great shareable size. The hype for the clam chowder is worth it!! It was incredibly delicious. I also had the enchilada and brisket taco. My husband was a little less impressed, but I just think he ordered wrong. He agreed the chowder was the best thing at the table.

I've been coming here for years and the consistency is the same! And I'm a person that appreciates that! I do wish they would offer some type of sauce for their tacos. That's the only thing missing from my point of view. This is not your regular kind of taco spot, especially when they first opened. I considered them one of the first to do it. I always get a brisket and fried chicken taco EVERY TIME!!!!! And the staff is always friendly. One margarita is good but two will definitely get you in there!

I have eaten at this TDS and other TDS locations many times over the years. Mainly out of convenience and or joining others. There are only a couple times that I really want to dine at TDS and that is Crispy Beef Taco week. The Decatur TDS is possibly the best one. This week we had the Veggie Taco with tomato and lettuce added, the Fried Chicken Taco, the Beef Brisket Enchilada with Salsa Frita and a Cheese Enchilada with Salsa Verde. The Veggie Taco is always wonderful and probably the best one on the menu. The roasted tomatillo salsa is outstanding if you like spicy. The Chicken in the Fried Chicken taco is not the best quality. A little stringy and somewhat tough. And that has been the case over the past year or so. The Brisket Enchilada was pretty good, maybe better than normal because is was seasoned well, which is not the norm. Just wish they would have added a bit more salsa frita as do I wish they would have added a little more salsa verde to the cheese enchilada. The cheese was almost melted through but not quite enough...it couldn't have been heated any more than it was or it would have burned. The line was not long so there was not much of a wait. Food arrived promptly. The place is always very clean. And yes, it is kid friendly. There are better tacos in the area. But will return.

I've visited this location multiple times in the last few years. During my most recent visit, there was no line which was SHOCKING to my family and I! The line is usually out in the parking lot. I've waited 45 minutes before, but it is worth the wait. I visited Taqueria Del Sol for dinner on June 22nd and ordered the chef's special, which was a taco, enchilada, and tostada. The chef's special was a smaller portion, but it was still pretty good. The enchilada had green salsa on the bottom, but to me it could've used a little bit more on the top. It also was covered in cheese. Yum!

The lunch rush is something that all of us want to make good. We tire of standard fried fare, buns and fries get old, despite not being healthy for you on the frequent. What is a hungry person to do when you need something fresh, dependable and tasty? Let me suggest Taqueria Del Sol. The ordering is straight forward, at the counter or bar. A few choices for your consideration. Each is freshly made and comes out piping (and I mean piping hot) and really fast. I ordered up the chicken enchilada with cream sauce and charro beans. It was just enough to ward off a serious hunger spell and yet not enough to make me feel like El Guapo in too small of a sweater. The line kept building all during our lunch meeting and folks were gladly ordering up their favorites and getting down to the serious business of eating well for lunch. I recommend TDS without hesitation, if there is one near you bet yourself in there and enjoy.

I've been coming to this Taqueria since I was a kid and have always had a great experience. I've tried everything from their enchiladas, tacos, chips, and chowder and have never left feeling disappointed. This time I got their lunch chicken mango taco alongside the brisket and memphis tacos (seen in pic) and loved them.

Small enough that if two people exhale at the same time, someone has to step outside. And yet -- the tacos are outrageously good. The shrimp tacos arrive like they have something to prove. The shrimp are perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed into warm tortillas with the confidence of a restaurant charging triple the price in Midtown. Then come the fish tacos: crispy, flaky, absurdly satisfying little miracles that make you temporarily forget every bad seafood taco you've suffered through in your life. There's barely any seating inside, but there are a couple of benches out back in the open air where you can sit, contemplate your life choices, and wonder why you've spent money at chain restaurants when this place exists. Now we must discuss the horchata situation. I am convinced horchata at Los Niños is either a legend, a social experiment, or a spiritual concept. They *never* have it. Ever. At this point, I assume someone walks in every morning asking for horchata and the staff simply whispers, "Not since the incident..." Still, none of it matters because the tacos are phenomenal. You leave slightly cramped, mildly confused about the beverage program, but deeply happy.

I've told myself a couple of times to stop by and finally had an opportunity yesterday. When I'm stressed I seek out two things. Tacos and boiled peanuts. I came onto Yelp and looked for Mexican restaurants near the farmers market and this one was at the top of the list. I was also having a mini reunion with a friend that I haven't seen in over 17 years. There is limited seating and most of the tables will comfortably fit two people. I had to keep my purse in my lap, because I was uncomfortable leaving it hanging on the chair since our table was snug against a wall and there was no where to actually leave it so it would be out the way. The red salsa that comes with the chips is extremely spicy in my opinion. I had to drown mines in the green salsa just to be able to eat it. I went with the pork, chicken and one shrimp taco. Upon return, I could simply get the pork and chicken ones and be happy. I bought a total of six and ended up taking two to-go. These are real street tacos with corn tortillas, plenty of filling and just a simple delight. My margarita was strong enough for a Sunday afternoon of smiles, and long conversations. I think it was pretty brisk business for a Sunday and lots of people were taking their food to go, so there were tables opening up if you're willing to wait. There is also a patio table out back near the parking lot but it was too hot to sit outside if I didn't have to. Next time I have a farmer's market trip planned, I'm sure to stop here. I want to try the 12 tacos for $30 but I need at least two friends to finish it off. 5 star!!!

We visited after a graduation celebration and were looking forward to a memorable meal. The experience got off to a rough start with hosts who were not particularly warm or welcoming. Once seated, things only went downhill. Our waiter seemed disorganized from the beginning. We ordered appetizers first, but they arrived at different times, and to make matters worse, the graduate in our party received her main entrée at the same time the rest of us were receiving appetizers. I politely explained that it didn't make sense for one guest to be eating her entrée while everyone else was still eating appetizers and waiting for their meals. His response was confusing and didn't really address the issue, so we let it go. Unfortunately, the graduate's steak was served cold. Rather than preparing a fresh one, the restaurant simply took it back and returned it about two minutes later. It appeared to be the exact same steak based on how we had left it when it was sent back, and while I'm not sure whether restaurants typically reheat food or prepare a new dish altogether, this one was reheated. To make matters worse, the graduate ended up with a stomachache after eating it. As we continued waiting, our entrées never arrived. The waiter was polite but extremely inattentive. We repeatedly had to flag him down because he rarely checked on our table. After a VERY long wait, I asked about the rest of our meals. At that point, he admitted that he had forgotten to place our entree orders altogether. He then had to take all of our orders again and submit them to the kitchen. By the time our food finally arrived, we were no longer hungry and were extremely frustrated, despite remaining patient and courteous throughout the entire experience. The entrées were decent, but nothing exceptional, especially considering the extremely excessive wait and service issues. The waiter did bring a small dessert for the graduate, which was a nice touch, but it felt more like a complimentary gesture because he had forgotten our entrées than a genuine celebration of the occasion, especially given how disastrous the overall experience had been. What should have been a joyful graduation celebration turned into an exhausting and disappointing dining experience. While the waiter was polite, the service was slow, disorganized, and lacking attention to detail. Overall, this was a poor first experience and not one I would be eager to repeat.

The portions are generous, and what really sets this place apart is the seasoning. Each dish had its own unique twist that elevated it well beyond your standard Mexican menu. The slow-cooked meat in both the empanadas and birria tacos was incredibly tender--so good it kept us going back for "just one more bite" long after we were full. The queso was excellent, especially with the crispy top, and the salsa had a great balance of flavor and spice. My girlfriend ordered the chimichanga, and it was spot on. The shell was perfectly crisp and the meat inside was flavorful and tender. I got the off-menu fajitas with steak and shrimp--absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly, the shrimp was flavorful, and the grilled onions tied it all together. Even the rice on the side impressed me, which doesn't usually happen. We wrapped things up with churros for dessert. They were decent--not a standout, but still a nice finish. All of that for around $50? I was seriously impressed. Great meal, great service, and definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.
