My husband had a burrito (asada) and ordered a carmelo (sp?) The burrito was huge and he couldn't even eat the meat quesadilla which was good but I thought lacked a little in spice! Yes "rapido" is correct! My order came out quickly which I appreciated because I was on a short lunch break. And the asada torta was excellent and tasty. The bun was so fresh and fluffy. Lettuce, onions, avocado, and carne asada. So good. $8. And the service was pleasant and cheerful. I will be back. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Came here after seeing all the gold reviews and let me tell you that the ratings are not justified for this place. Ordering Process: The people working this place don't speak English and apparently don't speak Spanish either. Ordered two birria tacos with all the toppings and came out with no toppings. Ordered an asada torta and got a birria torta. When I got the order I asked if it was Asada they said yes so apparently they don't even know the meats they are using. Food: I would have loved to give them an extra star for having Mexican coke and good birria but the birria didn't have much flavor at all. None of my order was correct but I didn't complain just ate it and left. I don't recommend this place and wished I went to Panda Express which I debated going to. I've eaten here so many times over the last 5+years. I kinda get disappointed a little more every time I visit. While I can admit, they have the best salsas and carne asada is so good.... their burritos are skimpy for the price. The burrito comes with green cabbage, and as seen in the pics- I basically ate half a burrito of just cabbage. Luckily, I love cabbage so added the purple onion, some salsa, pepino- soooooo good. Besides that- everything else is great. The tortas, the jugos de cabeza and Birria- I'm telling you.... last thing to add- almost forgot- you'll be lucky to catch them earlier in the morning- or a few days out of the week they're no where go be found. Delicious! I had the birria consome. I knew what I want but didn't see it on the menu but with the help and patience from them, i got what I want. It was so good that i forgot to take a picture of the cheese filled birria. The consome wasn't salty or greasy like the others. read more

Great authentic Mexican taco truck near my house! We frequent here often, even during the COVID-19 time. They are taking precautions too, such as taking out the self-serve bar with sides and providing them already in the order for you. The outside tables are also spaced out. There are a lot of variety to choose from, ranging from Adobada to Lengua. I've tried practically all of them and my favorite is definitely the Cabeza and Chicharron! *YUM* Currently, there are no seafood options. They also do caramelos and tortas. Dare I say it, does this place have the best burros in Tucson? Maybe. Just maybe. It's so delicious and they are very generous with their portion sizes. We got a Carne Asada Burro and Cabeza Burro. There was a long line and lots of folks behind us said they have been eating these burros exclusively for years. The price is very good as well. It was only $20 cash for two burros. Man, super, super flavorful burros. We were nodding our heads in disbelief, smacking our lips and chef kissing the entire meal. The tacos are small and the corn tortillas are resilient--this is a squeaky-clean, one-tortilla kind of taco truck. Despite those setbacks (and yes, squeaky-clean is a setback), El Rapido slings good tacos. The asada was supposed to have been adobada, but it was delicious, and delicious ends any discussion. A dry meat like asada can be a little grating when paired with a tough tortilla, but this wasn't as much of a clash as it could have been. The birria was a definite winner, seamlessly integrating with the tortilla. Putting anything on that taco would have been apostasy; it was created perfect. The cabeza was the weakest of the three tacos, but it could still headbutt most of its peers straight across Benson Highway. Taqueria El Rapido isn't registered at its current location, so it is hard to know if it usually parks somewhere else or has recently moved. It seems fairly stable at the moment, so you might consider making a special trip... Prices are like every other taco truck, service was unmemorable, and the tables didn't attack. Located in an empty dusty lot adjacent to a gas station, El Rapido houses a wonderful oasis - if you come here, you'll be shaded from the hot Arizona sun and have access to rows and rows of tables to sit and eat your taco/burrito-loving heart like the happiest gluttonous pig. The owner is a kind older gentlemen who will welcome you with a warm smile and take your order either in Spanish or English (the latter of which is a necessity in our case). While your deliciousness is being cooked, you'll walk 20 steps over to the salsa buffet where you'll be able to scoop whatever color salsa suits your fancy. All 3 kinds are delicious though I gotta say, their ruby red one was my favorite while the green was his favorite. My cabeza burrito was enormous - like if Chipotle's burritos were pregnant and ready to burst, this would be it...and the bursting would showcase super flavorful, juicy meat. I could have come here every day for burritos and tacos -- all for less than $7. Bring cash and be generous on the tips -- these are hardworking people who make great food and rock-bottom prices, and the quality is first-rate. The kind gentlemen noticed we were a little awkward holding our salsas and balancing like 6 different cups - he rushed out with paper plates and foil wraps so we could wrap them up and take it to go, without spilling the contents all over in our car. This taco truck keeps everything very clean and organized. You order at the window and they will hand you a plate and containers to fill up at the salsa bar. You can hand back the plate to them so they can wrap it up for you and put it with your food. The cabeza tacos are probably their best item on the menu. Super tender and great flavor. They only take cash so be prepared. They are right next to a gas station where you can easily get cash back or use the atm. I had three asada tacos, which were a bit fatty and a cabeza caramello, which must have been good, as it was gone before I got any. The salsa bar was filled back up while we were there and it was tasty. Fresh limes, cucumber, salsals, pico, pickled onions. The tables were really clean, and they were doing good business. I did not see any pollo on the menu or sonoran dogs, which was sad... The coolers are stocked with glass bottles from Mexico, and I recommend the Lift, which is apple flavor. I switched jobs, and as usual I looked on Yelp for yummy things near me. I found this little gem, and I was glad I made the choice. First of all, they accept debit/credit cards, which most street carts on the south don't. The fresh salsas are nicely chopped, none of that big huge chucks of random onions, they're all evenly chopped. Oh, and they're good! I had carne asada tacos, and lengua (tongue) tacos. The lengua tacos have been the BEST I've had in town so far, the carne asada were top five. Their tables were clean, somewhat muddy floor, but it had rained a bit. Everything else was spotless. As other reviewers have said this place is sqeaky clean and the food is delicious. The carne asada burritos have gone up in price to five dollars recently but well worth the price. The last three times I've eaten there the carne asada has been way to salty, almost inedible. I've been a fan or too long to give up on them though and will give them a few more tries. read more
