    Carnitas taco
    Chelsea C.

Small taqueria in a shopping center. Plenty of Parking. Staff was friendly. As many wrote on Yelp, greasy & saucy Mexican food. I had the Asada and Pastor burrito. I got a carnitas taco also. My son loved the Pastor. And I really liked the Asada. If you're eating in the car, be careful it can be pretty saucy! They have great salsas at their salsa bar too!

I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in Ventura. Best chilaquiles and chile relleno burritos. I also love the fresh chips and salsa bar with jalapenos and carrots - I always get A LOT and fresh aqua frescas are always delicious. Great service and clean restaurant it's worth the extra effort of paying with "cash only".

My family has had so many sweet memories and conversations here. For the past almost decade before the pandemic my hubby and I came here EVERY Tuesday for taco Tuesday and had our own "Taco bout it Tuesdays: eating delicious tacos and having great convo. The service is really fast and friendly. REMEMBER to BRING CASH. They are cash only and so many times we've forgotten lol but they do have an atm in case you forget. They have warm chips and yummy salsa bar ready to be enjoyed by you. But what I really want to highlight is the borritos. This is my go to spot when I want a borrito or when anyone asks for a good borrito spot. Asada Super Borrito! The meat, the cheese, the sour cream, and the guacamole! Yes!!!! Delish! El Tapatio is the best kind of hole in wall restaurant that reminds me of home. Thank you!

They have good food just make sure you ask for a receipt. One of the female cashiers is not very pleasant and over charged me. I had to ask her to give me the correct money back.

Before: sogged out mess. Only had 3 bites and packed it away in the fridge.

Oof. This visit was sooo disappointing. I'm stunned how off it was. We ordered: 1 Pastor Super taco, 1 carnitas burrito, and 1 shrimp burrito. when ordering the last item, we were offered free upgrades to make it a "super" burrito - sour cream, guac, lettuce and tomato. We declined the last 2 items. We asked why the free upgrades? "they figured charging for the extras would make it a $25 burrito"!!!. So, "only" $19 for shrimp burrito. And so: sogged out tortilla (not griddled at all). Bland rice, rubber shrimp, etc. I ate maybe 3 bites and quit. I put it in a container in the fridge. Told my wife - maybe I can salvage it. Making a black bean and cheese bake tomorrow and some tri tip. Had some Persian rice leftover from last night. I can swap out the rice and beans, and sub out the shrimp for tri-tip. Hmm, just toss the leftovers. The carnitas burrito was good, apparently. The pastor taco - also sogged out. Tortillas crumbled due to, I think, wrong layering. All the wet stuff on the tortilla first, then the meat? Pastor was okay, but not as good as last time. Gonna be a long while before I go back. (update). So I tried to salvage the leftover by putting it in the air fryer. As you can see, the "after" picture looks much better. The tortilla wasn't gummy, the cheese was melted nicely. I still threw out the shrimp as they were flavorless. So were the beans and rice. I doused it all with a lot of Cholula green sauce to give it flavor.

Ordered carne Asada burrito with green chili and avocado. It was very good. Will be returning when I am in the area. Service is like any ordinary restaurant nothing special, but they are friendly. Ambience Pretty quiet they do have a TV and it's not too loud. I would say it's a good place to eat and just enjoy your meal or your lunch. Now the negative they only take cash so make sure you bring money if you don't carry cash. They also have an ATM but they do charge a fee just FYI.. Sorry, but I forgot to take a picture of the burrito. I took one bite and I couldn't put it down.

Super burrito de pollo and 3 tacos con arroz y frijoles

Highly recommend this taqueria even though it is out of the way for people living in Oxnard or Camarillo. The asada is good as well as the pollo. The burritos are so flavorful and nicely portioned. The al pastor is my go to option because of the flavor that comes from the al pastor itself and when you add salsa roja to it either in a burrito or in tacos. The restaurant's atmosphere definitely reminds me of my childhood growing up eating at a traditional mexican restaurant with my parents.

Three taco plate (carnitas and Asada)

The Taqueria El Tapatio chain throughout the 805 is definitely one of my favorite quick and easy spots to indulge in delicious tacos and greasy yet flavorful super burritos! This spot is the real deal and brings me back to my childhood of eating in little wonderful divey and authentic taco shops throughout LA. This location in Ventura is smaller compared to some of their other locations but they get the job done. They have a few tables and a counter with a few tall chairs. You order at the counter and wait eagerly for your food. The pricing is reasonable and they are quick. I usually opt if the taco plate which comes with three tacos, rice, and beans for about $10. Also their super burritos are a must. Their meats are some of my favorites, I'm a sucker for their carnitas. Perfectly fatty and crunchy. Also the chorizo is some of the better I've had and if your feeling less adventurous the Asada will always do. Staff are friendly and they get you in and out which is appreciated when I am rushing on my lunch break. This is a good location and this is a chain well worth supporting in the 805 as the food is delicious and authentic.

Cash only facility ! I'm a big fan of the salsa bar; the tacos were good. The taco bar was clean and well stocked. I wouldn't recommend you come and have a sit down meal but to grab takeout taco definitely

Great taco spot! Very tasty! Después de comerte unos buenos tacos vas a decir "eso es todo"!! Translation: After eating a couple of their tacos you'll say "that was great!". We got some tacos de asada and pastor and they were very tasty. Many taco places tend to be bland, but not here. They only take cash, so obviously you'll need some cash. Their burrito de asada was bad-ass too. If you are in the area drop by, you'll get a flavorful taste of Mexico in Ventura.

Recently, I was at the Rubicon Theatre and needed lunch after a show. This location is located within walking distance of the Rubicon and is usually so busy each time I come! My marker of a good place to eat is usually on how busy they are. :) This recent visit I had a torta (my first, didn't catch the name) and it was outstanding! The meat was fresh and hot and the bun was flavorful! I did note that on my next visit here I want to try the Hawaiian (?) torta! Can't wait to be back! The service is always great each time. From the Molitas to the Asada fries to the corn elote, to the salsa ( which we took with us and ate in the hotel room), and last, but not least... The tacos. Oh, the tacos! My favorite was the Pastor, but no selection would be a bad selection. We dined on a variety of delicious tacos while fighting each other for their juicy yet crispy Chicharron. I literally had to take another order to go. They were so good. And you can't have tacos without a little liquor! Frozen mango margaritas and frozen piña colada's flowed the entire night. I would suggest getting a picture as it's generous in size and pours about five glasses. If our call is not for you, please try one of their many Agua Frescas that are made in house. First off, the parking here is a nightmare. I literally got boxed in and had to ask someone to move their car so I could back out. Secondly, me and my coworker stop here at 11:30am for an early lunch. There is literally 1 other person there who had already ordered and got their meal just as me and my coworker sit down after ordering. We ordered 7 tacos in total... 30 minutes later the food still hadn't arrived. I finally go up to the counter to see if something was wrong and the guy had no idea about our order and said he was sorry that they had a big catering order. As a former business owner I do understand that stuff happens and a large catering order is good for business but ultimately that isn't the customers problem. Especially the customer that is sitting there at your establishment. Rather than tell us while we were ordering that it might take longer than normal, they don't communicate anything and then don't even address the issue until I go up there to complain. Once that happened the tacos came out in less than 5 minutes which is even more upsetting since this is how fast they should have come out to begin with. The gentleman who I think was an owner did apologize and try to offer some free drinks which I politely declined as I knew I'd never be back again. I hope that this business learns to service the customers properly that are actually dining there and if there is an issue at least takes some initiative to address it on the front side. Most working class people only get a 30-45 minute lunch to begin with so it wasn't cool that we literally wasted 30 minutes just sitting there with no explanation. There are plenty of other good places around Ventura for lunch - especially for tacos. Won't be going back here ever.
