We stopped for gas and realized it was time for lunch. Not wanting more fast food, we decided to try this local spot. At 3pm on a Thursday afternoon, we arrived to see the parking lot occupied with three buses. I was a little overwhelmed by all the options (buffet, menu, drive through, take out, sit down), and my eyesight is terrible without glasses, so I had my boyfriend go in and order for us. We decided to get a Gatorade and three pollo, two carne asada, one carne guisada, and one barbacoa taco. They came out quick, hot, and smelling amazing! We were given napkins and containers of green and red salsa to-go. My pollo tacos were delicious--they were tacos made with soft corn tortillas, pulled chicken, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes. They were filled quite well, and I was full after two. My boyfriend raved about all of his and was full after three tacos.

This place is a hidden gem. Great authentic Mexican food. They have a Mexican food buffet that has menudo, cheese enchiladas, beef tacos and carne guisada. The Migas place is so darn good-- if you order breakfast after designated hours there is a $2 added fee.

So good I came two nights in a row. Had a margarita on the rocks that was great. They must've used fresh squeezed lime juice

After searching online for places with strong ratings (4.5 stars or higher), we decided to try…read moreGuajillos. Unfortunately, our experience didn't match the reviews. I'm not a professional food critic, but I do know seasoning, regional Mexican flavors, and what well‑prepared food should taste like -- and this just wasn't it for us. The restaurant didn't feel well-kept, and it appeared that only one server and one cook were working, plus we and another couple were the only ones there. We were served chips and salsa to start. The salsa, a taquera‑style orange sauce, was actually the best part of the meal. The chips, however, were extremely hard, not fresh, and definitely not warm. They looked house‑made, but whatever they were fried in made them almost inedible. I ordered the ribeye street tacos, and the steak was overcooked, had an odd taste, and wasn't enjoyable. I asked for extra cilantro and onions, which didn't happen, and the chimichurri they brought out was basically oil with a few seasonings floating in it. I almost complimented the Dr Pepper because it had a unique sweetness -- until I realized why. The red glass had visible staining on the inside. When I wiped the rim with my napkin, it came off dirty. They also don't offer straws, so whatever residue was in that glass is what you end up drinking. Between the food quality, the cleanliness concerns, and the overall condition of the restaurant, this was a no for us. How this place has earned such high mentions is honestly beyond me.

As a vegan, that made me excited because actual Mexican food usually has less cheese and can be made vegan. The business is quaint. There was a friendly hostess to welcome us in and our server was very hospitable. We ordered the chile relleno without cheese, zucchini in pasilla pepper sauce, and mole verde off the vegetarian options on the menu. We also enjoyed guacamole and chips. Our server was happy to accommodate our vegan modifications and it was really easy to communicate with him. The flavors are just WOW! Hands down the best guacamole of my life. The sauces are vibrant and rich. Everything tasted so fresh. And the prices for this quality of food cannot be beat. My husband and I literally licked sauce off the plates to make sure we did not miss one ounce of that authentic Mexican flavor. This place is top of our list of businesses to visit next time we are in town visiting family. We had an incredible experience and cannot wait to continue to explore the vegetarian menu options.
