UPDATE: including red enchiladas and new menu. I ask for my cheese enchiladas with onions. Just as good as home.

Came here on a whim but I'm glad I did. Authentic Mexican food like from Mexico. The perfect sized street tacos, I tried a steak/carne asada and barbacoa which both hit the spot. My friend got a taco plate with rice and beans and those were good too. They make fresh aquas frescas so don't skip out on that.

Very great taqueria. This is a hidden gem in Dallas. Do not let the exterior and the gas station besides it fool you! This place is amazing and will give you authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is amazing and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Ordered tacos de pastor. $2.25 / taco. A bit dry . Authentic Mexican . They charge a fee for using credit card. They should have said something or post a note on the machine. Lots of torta options . Unassuming small divey place .

Don't let all the people standing outside in the corner scare you off, this place is too good to pass up. You'll be fine. The colors are bright here, so many flashy lights at the front entrance. The inside is pleasing. So many different colors, the decor just makes it that much more authentic! I've come here so many times for chupa cabras tortas, and barbacoa tacos. Some of the best barbacoa around and it's hard to find someone who makes it so great. It's so tender & juicy! The tortas are big, & just as delicious. Honestly I'm the worst at describing the way food tastes. But just go see for yourself.

Must try!! Was shocked when my co workers asked if I ever had "gas station tacos", but these are so much more!! So delicious! The salsas, YUM!! I had them two days in a row after trying them out for the first time. Friendly staff!! Barbacoa Tacos/Chicken Tacos

    Torta de Chorizo

Fajita tacos are really good I love the small tortillas. Red sauce is spicy and delicious. Torta de Chorizo was good but needs more veggies.

YUP!!!! Looking for a quick authentic and cheap Mexican meal, then this is the place! Fajita taco plate was so good

Since the weather has been so nice lately, outdoor seating is super popular, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you can. Even though we didn't have one, they were still able to accommodate our group which we really appreciated. The service was amazing...everyone was so polite, attentive, and fast. The drinks were delicious and the food came out surprisingly quickly as well. They also offer valet, but if it's packed, there's parking across the street too which was convenient. Highly recommend for a nice lunch or dinner during the weekend. We'll definitely be coming back again!

The location is super cute and always packed. You definitely need a reservation or have to go super early to get a spot. There is valet parking as well as street parking, which can get a bit crowded. I've had a ton of different food items the years, but their fajitas are their signature dish for a reason! It comes out sizzling, fresh, and delicious. Do not pass up on the bone marrow sauce, it transforms the dish to beyond a 10/10! The salsas are always good and then tortilla chips salty and fresh. I start with a skinny margarita w a salt rim, which was good. Our waiter, Abraham, was great! He was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We also order the ceviche to start, which was yummy! The crackers were a bit of an odd pairing for me and I stuck with tortilla chips, but overall delicious!! My friend ordered the steak quesadilla and thought it was tasty too.

We hung out comfortably and had a couple of drinks before heading out. The food is amazing!! Obviously every dish is meat based here and it's cooked to perfection. Seasoned deliciously and very tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty. We also ordered Chicharrónes and guac. I'll admit I was very skeptical about The Chicharrónes because they're either cooked right or they're not. They got it down here. Everything was cooked exceptionally well and delicious. 10/10 recommend. Food and drinks are great!

Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
