I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it. Very glad that I did. The interior decor instantly takes you to Mexico. The colors are vibrant yellow and it just feels like a taco restaurant in Mexico. You order at the counter and they call your name when the food is ready. I went with the kid and she got the kid's quesadilla. She did not eat much of it but I noticed they use real Mexican cheese and not American cheddar. She loved the rice and ate all of mine. She had a Mexican coke and really liked that. I ordered the 3 taco plate with flour tortillas ($14.49). I had the chicken, pastor, and beef. Each was outstanding. You get a very generous portion of protein. The beef was extremely tender and good quality. I liked the pineapple in the pastor. I am a big chicken lover so I really liked that taco. The tortillas were delicious too. I loved the charro beans which were incredible. It was like a spicy soup and I saw pieces of jalapeno. Wow, it was good. I believe I came to their new location, but this place definitely lived up to the hype. I wasn't aware how popular this place was and was just in the area, so glad I stepped in. The service inside was phenomenal, and the indoor eating area was very welcoming. They also have a nice TV inside that was streaming sports while I was there. I only had a couple tacos from here as I really just wanted something small and quick; however, I definitely could've stayed for more and will probably comeback again soon! I just moved nearby to this place and had heard a lot about Mario Brothers Tacos, but it never makes sense for me to make a special trip there. I have eaten there now twice. Both times I had corn Al Pastor tacos. They were packed with meat but they are still "tiny" tacos. They were indeed good and above average in quality. This is one of the first times when a 4.5 star rating on yelp has left me disappointed. Today I ordered three corn tacos and a Powerade and it came to $13. Really? And I was still hungry. I was irritated when I saw my bill. They were good, but I really question their pricing for a place that is entirely a "hole in the wall" type restaurant. A combo with 3 tacos, rice, and beans is $13+. A single patty hamburger and fries with beans is $13 plus as well, a double burger is closer to $15. When I'm looking for a cheap quick meal, I think about street tacos. But for easily 15+ dollars for a meal, I don't put this any longer in the cheap category. That combined with the fact that the interior of this place is very hodgepodge circus like. Telemundo is playing on all the TVs. I don't understand who their target customer is. If this place is targeting primarily Spanish speaking people, these prices feel quite high. If it's targeting suburbanites from Lake Highlands, it's not really a holistic experience to revisit. The service is efficient, but no more than that. I really question the value of street tacos when they are on with tax almost $3 a taco. This place is delicious, but it's really not that cheap and the restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired. When I go for street tacos, I'm looking for a cheap meal, but this place is not cheap or even a good value. My best guess is they have become popular and have raised their prices as a result. For these prices, I would rather go to Torch's Tacos which are $3-5/taco but are larger and you only need 2 and a very unique. Or Fuzzy's Tacos. read more

So much so, that we still go for our weekly quesadilla fix, despite having moved out of the neighborhood. The people are amazing and the food is SO good. One of the best tacos I've had in DFW that is also reasonably priced ($2.29 a taco) Our favorite was the trompo and barbacoa. Both were super juicy and moist. I've heard about Mario Bros and it's been on the list to go for a few months now. I finally made the trip down to this location. I went around noon so the place was about half full. I've heard good things about their tacos, but having noted that the price of items was fairly cheap I decided to grab a quesadilla as well. I eyed their Agua Frescas and noticed they had a few different kinds (Hibiscus, Horchata, Mango, Lemon, etc). I ended up asking for their recommendation and they conveyed that their horchata was the one people usually grabbed so that's what I got. I ended up grabbing 2 Pollo Tacos, Trompo Taco, Pollo Quesadilla, and a Horchata. The photo I attached doesn't do the food enough justice. The chicken tacos were so juicy. From what I could tell, they cooked the meet with cilantro and grilled onions and put that on the corn tortillas. These were then topped off again with cilantro and raw onions. This was my first time having Trompo tacos, and they left a good impression. I ended up using the salsa verde for all of the tacos, but it wasn't as spicy as I expected so I added the Chile sauce, which made it better. The quesadilla was packed with meat, cheese, onions, and cilantro. This is probably one of THE BEST quesadillas I've ever had in my life. For the price point, even more worth it. It's cheaper than most Mexican restaurants I've been to in town. The horchata was pretty sizeable and quite sweet so I was only able to finish about half of it. I recommend getting it if you and another person would like to share or you like sweet drinks. It was tasty and perfect. The green sauce was delicious. They miss the mark with this meat. Where was the seasoning? Where was the flavorful meat? It was missing in action. If I can give a Zero I would. I came based of the great reviews. I placed the order of a burrito with two meats. Asked if I can add guacamole. We don't have guacamole but slices of Avocado. Okay. I will take slices of Avocado in the burrito. Cashier tells me people take usually 3 to 4 slices of Avocado. Okay each slice is 80 cents. So I still asked for 4. That's an up charge of $3.60. I was willing to pay to get good food. Come time to pay $18. I asked you accept Apple Pay. Yes they do. I paid and came to sign the receipt. I notice a service charge. I asked why there is a service charge she says here is the sign. The sign says their prices are already at a discounted rate. Please do me a favor. I did not ask for a discount and your menu does not show the item is discounted. That is a false statement. I understand it is a family business. But freaking invest in it. I sat on the both. The walls are caked with dirt splattered. The tv scream set up has their freaking router and stuff up there. The dinning area have a fan blower from Costco or god knows where. That tells me their AC or hoods are not maintained. If that is in the dinning room what about their kitchen. Might be infested. I said I will give it a try. The guy calls my name to pick up. I looked at it. Looked sad. Sorry for saying but like shit. All brown. No rice no meat color and looked like fake melted cheese served on a cafeteria jail red tray with a cheap dollar store foam plate and soda can from Costco. That was the last trigger. I like no thank you. I will go somewhere else. The guy tells me well if you didn't want it why did you have us make it. I replied I just don't want it. It's not right. He replies I thought because of the service charge. Well if you thought it was the service charge being a smart one why didn't you do something about it. I don't want to sound mean. But if you charge $18 plus service fee for credit card at least give me above par service, presentation of a product and a clean establishment with things set up correct. I went here due to the recommendation of my co workers. We could not go as we found out they were closed on that Monday. We ordered the Al Pastor, Tripas, bistec and beef cheek tacos. You do have to wait 10 minutes for them to cook your food. When the tacos first came out, I had to take a bite as they were fresh and hot. I had the Al Pastor tacos and they were delicious. The meat was not dry and was moist that I ended up ordering 3 more tacos and then a Al Pastor torta with bistec meat which was $1 dollar more. The torta was good too, but I prefer the tacos more.
