I was so disappointed at how this place served me a meal replacement. My first tacos were crunchy but they put so much sauce that the breading turned mushy. ( and i had told the guy to plz make sure nothing makes them soft) so i took it back and asked for the fish tacos with everything on the side! He had my fish recooked!!! He should have given me a freshly fried fish! It was over fried and dark, almost burnt! They just lost two customers who used to go there whenever going to the Casino! Treat your customers right! Last Esmerelda is a nice small taqueria with a pretty good sized seating area, a salsa bar and very polite and helpful staff. I had 2 Queso Birria tacos, that were absolutely delicious, and an Al Pastor wet burrito. I could have passed on the burrito (eyes were bigger than stomach) but the burrito was really good as well. The place is cleaned up pretty quick after guests leave their tables and it has that small town taqueria feel to it. TBH it is a small town taqueria and the locals seem to love the place. Drinks are either Mexican sodas, beer or fountain drinks (Pepsi products) They have flan, and churros as well. Haven't tried them yet but will one day. I would definitely recommend them. read more

I haven't been here in years so decided to have lunch there today and whoa it was amazing. We had the California burrito and fish taco plate. Both were absolutely the best we've had in a long time. Everything was fresh even the tortillas seemed homemade. My fish tacos were perfect with amazing chipotle sauce, pico de gallo and cabbage. My husband's burrito had tender carne asada with no fat. The service was friendly and attentive they were also quick to clean the tables too. This is definitely our new favorite Mexican restaurant. I order a super burrito bowl. I am keto - so no rice nor beans. It did lack sour cream and avocado - but lots of lettuce, Found the meat at the bottom of the bowl- it was very good seasoned well (steak) The guy keep answering the phone while I was ordering- I had to questions- I didn't like that part. My buddy suggested this and said that his Mexican wife said that it tasted authentic. Had to try it. This is a typical taqueria. Order and get your food in short order. They don't mess around. The salsa bar was kind of a mess, but it is self-help so that happens. Place was warm inside and it was a hot day. I got two enchiladas, and I shared a couple of tacos. It was $1.99 taco night. After a day at the lake and really not eating all day I was totally starving. I'm so glad we found this taqueria. There were many options AND a salsa bar! Looking at the wall of options we needed more time to figure out each of our orders so we let other people move ahead of us in line. I opted for a cheese enchilada dinner, again being kinda indecisive I asked for red and green enchilada sauce. My friend ordered Carne fries and his mother ordered a chili rellano We were all very happy and more than satisfied with our choices. The food had a lot of flavor, the restaurant was nice and clean including the restroom. The person at the counter was cheerful and seemed to be in a great mood. A hidden gem. Absolutely loved this place. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. Portions are great for the price. I ordered the chicken flautas plate which had a side of rice and beans. Based on the good reviews I wanted to like this place. Today was the 3rd strike and I'm out! Very long wait time and as I went to the bathroom I noticed a stack of 3 microwaves being put to use.
