Very small place but has a parking lot and some seating. Could be hard to find because it's small and in the back part of the parking lot. Very nice person took our order. We got the signature birria tacos and an order of chicken taquitos. My fiancé got a fruit punch Jarritos drink. The birria tacos were delicious. Love that the tortilla was crunchy. Good portion. The chicken taquitos were also good but keep in mind the portion is small because it is an appetizer. The place is small but there is some seating space. We ordered from Sombrero Taqueria for an office event with about 40 staff members. Unfortunately, shortly after the meal, around 25 employees became ill with symptoms consistent with food poisoning. While we understand that issues can occasionally happen, this was very concerning for our team. What was even more disappointing was the response when we reached out to report the issue. When the regional manager called back, Jenny was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was no empathy, no accountability, and the concern we were trying to raise was dismissed. Instead, the interaction escalated to us being blamed for expressing our concerns. We were simply trying to bring attention to a potential food safety issue so it could be looked into. Instead, we felt disrespected and not taken seriously at all. She clearly should not be in the position of management and customer service. She is just simply disgusting ! AVOID THE CLIFTON LOCATION!!! I've eaten at both the Clifton and Totowa locations before and usually enjoyed the food, so my office was excited to order from here for Cinco de Mayo. Unfortunately, the next day multiple members of our HR team and office staff became sick, with several employees calling out or leaving early. While we can't confirm the exact cause, this restaurant was the only common factor shared among our staff that day. What made the situation even worse was management's response. When I called to express concerns so they could investigate and hopefully prevent this from happening to others, I was immediately dismissed, accused of exaggerating, and met with zero concern or professionalism. Other staff members who called reportedly received the same rude response from the regional manager overseeing the Clifton location. No apology, no accountability, and no empathy. We mistook this place for Tacoria in Montclair but we decided to give it a chance. The food was horrible. We ordered chips and queso, the chips were stale and the queso was bright orange nacho cheese, the elote was old corn and tasted like the corn was sitting in water for weeks, I ordered the pina mango Agua Fresca and it tasted sour and old. Overall the flavor of the birria broth was good. However, they use Mexican blend cheese which leaves a fake salty taste. No fresh cilantro or onion on the tacos, they put it in the broth which leaves the onions cooked, so there's no fresh snap to balance the fat content. The rice was undercooked and hard, but the beans did have flavor. There were flies everywhere, would be fine if they didn't have chips and meats out buffet style, overall not the best ambiance. First of all, I went to order on Grubhub and they have a note on there that says they offer better prices if you order directly through them, so I did. After I placed my order through the business' direct website, I got an email receipt and I noticed a delivery fee and other fees as well. These fees weren't displayed when I was checking out. I went back on Grubhub just because I was curious how much I had saved and I added all the same items and guess what! My total was less on Grubhub. I was so annoyed because I had a Grubhub gift card I could've used. Onto the food... This is not authentic Mexican food and has no business calling itself a taqueria. We got the guacamole and chips. They gave us a huge bag of stale chips and a tiny container of BROWN guacamole. I got the chicken tacos - the tortilla is definitely not homemade. It's store bought and the actual tacos are American style tacos and there was barely any chicken in them. I make better tacos on taco night at home. VERY disappointing. My husband got the birria tacos and he said they were good. Who knows if they actually were. We got a side of rice and beans - rice was missing something flavor wise. The beans were good. Then they charge you for hot sauce which is obscene IMO. We got 3: chipotle, which was yucky--it was spicy mayo. The hot sauce was mild and the hotter sauce wasn't even spicy.
