Got my hair cut today and after that difficult task was done I was hungry. Luckily nearby was Chelas. Been here before so it was an easy choice to slide on in. I have been jonesing for a good bean and cheese burrito for some time now. Over that time I have been very disappointed in the B&C burritos I have come upon. Some even from my trustworthy B&C places. This was my first B&C burrito from Chela's and was looking forward to their version. At the last minute, without warning, planning or any notice I ordered my bean and cheese burrito wet. I was feeling kinda wild! Also, I asked for some chips and salsa in the side. When it was rung up, the cost was quite high and it made me step back. So I did question the charge. I didn't realize that when I ordered chips and salsa the guy thought I meant another full order of large bag of chips and a pint of salsa, not the little bag and little cup you get with your order. A nice gal helped fix that and the order cost looked much more reasonable. Whew! Financial crisis averted. I sat down after getting my Diet Pepsi (won't hold it against them that they don't have Diet Coke). Soon after, I was brought a small bag of chips and some salsas. Get the chipotle and you will not be disappointed. Shortly after that my plate with a HUGE bean and cheese burrito with lots of sauce, cheese and a drizzle of sour cream. Check the pic out, it's a beauty. The taste did not disappoint. Great beans, ooey, gooey cheese inside and out. The wet sauce was great. I thought it would be a verde sauce, but it was red. Next time I will see if they have a verde version for me to try. Just a really great B&C wet burrito. Delicious. With the chips, I only ate half the massive burrito and am already looking forward to lunch tomorrow to eat the other half. I don't give out 5 stars to many places. They have to blow me away with food, service, consistency, on and on. Chelas is an order at the counter and they bring it to you kind of place. The people taking orders and bringing food are quite nice and always willing to see if you need anything. The food has been consistently very good. All wrapped up, it's one of my favorite places around. Great job.

The chicken tacos were very fresh savory, juicy, cheesy flavorful, and delicious. Also, the beans and rice were super tasty, and the chips are super crunchy, crispy, and salty, and the pineapple cream soda was really sweet and refreshing, good service, nice atmosphere, and I had an excellent experience here today.

Hi I love chelas but the guy taking orders makes me not want to return he looks like he does not want to be there and is not friendly! Takes orders with attitude!

The service was good you order it at the counter, the ambiance was very nice but small place. The food was ok I would not be coming back here for the tacos or even the burritos. First of all for the price and the littlest amount of food that they put on my plate I have ordered a Rib eye Taco (as pictured) and I would say that for $15.99 it is very expensive for one small taco and probably just 1 1/2 thin sliced of rib eye cut in little cubes and loaded it with creme sauce, queso fresco, some little cuts of lettuce in there and pickled onions which was ridiculous, not mentioning 6 pieces of tortilla chips on the side ‍ I could tell the same with the other order we have gotten except for one of the order which was the gringa tacos my daughter like it but it was lacking of any flavors and no sauce, it was dry! The wet burrito sauce wasn't that good. They did have the americano bacon taco which my husband liked and was very unusual as it contained scramble eggs and bacon & Colby jack cheese inside, then we had the crispy asada taco which was ok but dry and no sauce given. We did all love the Asada Fries! It was the best of the whole order! No one can go wrong with fries ! I am glad that we did like some of then but Will not be back for the price and for the ridiculous amount of food they would put inside those tacos! They just load it with lettuce and cheese, We probably did not order the right food because obviously the reviews below are great! But for our first time here it was just a bad experience for us.

Met there yesterday with a group of girlfriends, we love the fact that everything is made fresh to order nice inside and outside patio seating. I would prefer that they would take my order at the table than to have to stand up and order it, but the food was delicious the burrito That I got was awesome. We will go back.

It's the Chela's salad with chicken added. So good. I also like the verse salsa and the chipotle salsa.

1st time trying a Jarrito. Such a light & refreshing drink. And when poured into a glass w ice it turns so light & bubbly!!

Ok this is my 2nd visit. And I came back because the 2 cheese enchiladas plate is AHMAZING!!!! Chela's is the ONLY Mexican restaurant Uve been to that doesn't use the typical red sauce on top. They use an absolute delicious fresh topping of Mexican cheese, cream, tomatoes, and lettuce. it is so refreshing!!! I've been twice and I plan to go back again real soon! Well done, Chelas!!!

2 taco Tuesday-Carnitas Papas are delicious. Comes with chips 2 salsas.

Best fish tacos I've found in South OC. Full size tacos with delicious perfectly cooked fish. Plenty of cabbage and great salsa. Friendly service in a nice clean local vibe location... two restaurants in San Clemente, one on Pico, & one on Estrella. If you love fish tacos this place is a must try

I do wish we got a little variety and picked a different dish instead of getting 2 pork dishes but both the cochnita pibil and castacan were highly recommended by a friend. Almejas al Vapor Picantes - The avocado clam sauce was incredible, especially paired with the focaccia bread for dipping. Pulpo al Guajillo - One of my favorite dishes of the night. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Empanadas - Really good! We all loved these. Salbute Pato Ahumado - Tasty, but it wasn't one of my favorites compared to the other dishes. Poc Chuc - I'd probably skip this next time. The flavor was good, but the meat wasn't as tender as I expected and was a bit tough to chew. Beignets - So delicious! They come with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces, and they were the perfect way to end the meal. Our server even brought us a side of vanilla ice cream to enjoy with them, which turned out to be an amazing combination. Overall, we had a wonderful birthday dinner here. Let's start with the margarita I got, I did not taste any alcohol in it (and I cannot have strong drinks! So that can tell you a lot) not worth $18. We basically paid for an expensive agua fresca! Then I ordered the carne asada skewers. The first bite was okay, not very flavorful, but I thought I could just finish it. As I go through the meat, I notice so much fat and very little meat. I grab another piece and bite into it, I start chewing and realize that it tasted like raw meat (with a hint taste of raw meat that spent too much time in the fridge) I immediately got nauseous and spit it out on a napkin. I told our server and he asked me what else I would like. I then ordered the fish tacos, he brought it out in less than 5 minutes (kind of fast if you ask me) I try a small piece of the fish and it wasn't bad, I give a piece to my friend and she only got fat. Why is there fat in my fish tacos! I tried to pick through it so I could atleast get full, but I couldn't do it. The server came to pick up our plates and asked me if I didn't like the tacos, I said no but that's okay don't worry about it. I was so disappointed because I was starving. My friend ordered the rib eye tacos and had to pick through it too because most of it was fat. The only good thing that happened was that our server did not charge me for the two plates that I didn't eat. We thanked him, paid the check and left. Unfortunately, this was not the best food and we were excited to eat and celebrate my birthday.

What a night! UNFORGETTABLE EVENT OF 2026!!!!…read more Last Thursday, our ULI CFL Foodies gathered for a truly memorable evening at Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen in Orange -- with an exclusive private dining experience for 10 in The Cellar (Ki Hanal + Lounge). Such great 5 star service by our server, Jess!!! Thank you Mr. Don Domingue (Restaurant Manager). - The Yucatan inspired dishes were life alteringly good - The salsa was seriously addictive (carmelized onions in the salsa??? who knew it would be so mind blowing!) - OMG the skirt steak was cooked to perfection sitting on a corn medley served with hot fresh house made flour/corn tortillas - Their cocktails were vibrant, fresh and packed a punch! A converted wine cellar featuring an intimate bar and lounge and a dramatic private dining table reminiscent of King Arthur's Court, the space was unlike anything we had experienced before. The furnishings were rich with history, character and unique design. For a few hours, we literally felt transported. But as special as the setting was, the people made the evening. We celebrated a birthday , career milestones , and had the opportunity to get to know members of ULI CFL Cohort 2 on a more personal level. In my opinion, the restaurant should just be called "Gabbi's Kitchen," because that would be more appropriate. This is the type of "Mexican" restaurant that Mexicans don't actually go to. Basic concepts and dishes that are either done incorrectly or have way too much going on. We ordered the Al Pastor Gordita, and it was easily the worst gordita I've ever had. The meat wasn't traditionally seasoned the way you'd expect al pastor to be, which could be fine, except it was overwhelmed by the taste of either cinnamon, allspice, or some other seasoning I couldn't identify. It was distracting and unpleasant. Then there was an overwhelming amount of pineapple. There shouldn't even be pineapple in a gordita, but if there is, it shouldn't be the main ingredient. Instead of lettuce, there were one or two spinach leaves, and no beans. We also ordered the Arrachera, which was basically carne asada on corn and nopal. This was the most expensive dish, yet while the cheaper dishes came with sides, this was mainly just a piece of meat on a small mountain of corn. No beans, rice, or salsa. I asked for salsa and received an overly sweet, somehow-not-spicy habanero salsa that they charged $4 for. And if you're used to going to literally any authentic Mexican restaurant and getting complimentary chips and salsa, don't expect that here. They offer it to you like it's free, but it's not. I wanted to try something new, and the hostess at the front said the food was "really good" (not her fault), but unfortunately, it's just another Americanized Mexican restaurant that makes you regret not going to a place you already know and trust.

Ambiance is upscale Mexican and I think it hits, at least for happy hour! Guac and salsa prices were too high for my liking ($13 and $10, respectively) especially as a happy hour item, but to each their own. Overall 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 with a $5 marg as the kicker to round up vs down (for guac and salsa prices).

It's very rare that I find an upscale Mexican restaurant that I absolutely LOVE... but Cocina de…read moreBarrio completely won me over. I was in town looking for a good brunch spot and came across Cocina de Barrio on Yelp. The food looked delicious, but let me tell you... it tasted like home. You know that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic takes that first bite and is instantly transported back to his childhood? That was me. The sauces, the flavors, the textures... everything was absolutely magnificent. It was honestly so hard to choose what I wanted. I would happily pay extra for a buffet here! Hint, hint! I ordered the Oaxaqueño Breakfast, with nopales (cactus) cooked into the eggs with salsa, paired with refried beans and potatoes. Can we just take a moment to give some serious compliments to the chef?! Every bite was packed with flavor. I also paired my breakfast with a Café de Olla, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. I enjoy my cafecito, and this one was just right. The ambience is colorful, vibrant, and beautifully filled with greenery, which made the whole experience even better. everyone was very welcoming and friendly Overall, Cocina de Barrio was such a wonderful find. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes the next time I'm in town. 10/10 -- my taste buds definitely felt at home.
