I have always gone here for the breakfast tacos but it is convenient for lunch so I gave it a try. I ordered something that is not hard to mess up in any cuisine and that is a hamburger and fries. I was told a 10 minutes wait which was fine I had some calls to make so I sat in my car and pasted the time. It was ready in less than 10 minutes so that was even better. I drove to a nearby park to partake in my lunch. Parked, rolled down the windows, open the sunroof and I was ready. The fries are cut in chunks (homefries) they were not soggy and served in a brown bag so you can see the grease markings. The burger wrapped in foil and hot to the touch. I opened the foil to find a really nice size burger with two patties side by side and overlapping in the middle. Everything looked great. See photos. I took my first bite and I was so excited. Is this fresh ground beef??!!! Yes it is. The burger was loaded with all the fixings and each one fresh. I finished my meal with a Mexican Coca - Cola and I was in heaven. Tex taco is a food truck located across the Shell on Morton Ranch and Katy Ft Bend. They have the best breakfast tacos! I've been here many times, but on this particular occasion it was a bad experience. Normally, I would give this place 5/5 stars since the food is way better than average and the prices are excellent! However, I have to give it 1 star for this occasion that averages out to 3. I've called in 2 Jimmy Tacos and 2 Randy tacos at 8:00 am. I arrived at 8:10 and of course there was already a line with about 10-15 people. I waited patiently on the left side (not in the line). The guy taking orders and running the payments noticed me and told me if you're here for pickup or order there is a line. Me being accustomed to ordering a head of time so I don't have to wait, looked at the long line and said "okay thank you!" And left lol (I was otw to work so needed something fast). Unfortunately, I don't know what the hype is all about. The tacos WERE tasty. But not tasty enough for 5 stars. Sorry guys. I ordered the Barbacoa taco and a pastor taco. They both were fairly tasty but lacking in the flavor department. Immediately when I opened the foil tacos come in, I added salt because I tried a piece of the meat. It needed it to me. However the service was nice, a young lady made me feel comfortable ordering and even reccomended something to me. I had to wait 12 minutes for 7 tacos which was not bad at all. They were pretty good, but not the best I have ever had. They even have a small place where you can wait/eat. It's covered, not like your average food truck. Go ahead and try it. I would say it was just ok. We had the randy breakfast tacos, barbacoa taco & chicken tamales. The quacamole or avocado salsa was the best thing they had going. Randy- good but bacon was way over cooked barbacoa taco- too many onions, very little barbacoa and it lacked flavor and was a bit over cooked. Tamales- masa was soggy and salty but very flavorful. The taco's here are good enough to put a dent in Taco Cabana's drive through traffic, but it cant touch Soliz Taco's in Missouri city. These guys have a sense of humor(Check out the pics), but they need to put that effort towards making better tacos. One hungover morning at my friend's house...when not a creature was stirring except for my stomach, I Yelped the area for food to bring back to my fellow hungover compadres. I ordered a variety of tacos based on Yelp reviews, and now all 10 of us (and growing) are hooked! If you live in Katy, YOU NEED TO GO HERE. I wish this place were closer to Houston. Found this place on Yelp. It was one of the few places open, nearby, on a Sunday, with good reviews. I placed an order over the phone not realizing it wasn't a sit down normal restaurant. Which is fine. It was like a mobile with chairs and tables set up outside. I ordered pastor tacos, barbocoa tacos, chicken tamales, and beef fajita tacos. It came with plenty of red and green hot sauce and these tacos were legit authentic. On Thur- sat they have $1 tacos. I believe I paid $1.50 per taco but still worth it. Everything was so good. Taco places are a dime a dozen, this one here jas the best tacos in Houston to me. Other than its location, this is the best and cheapest place to get some of the tastiest and fulfilling tacos out. I order the Randy, a has all the little touches of love and flavor. The Jimmy is good, but im not an egg kind of guy. Their pollo tamales wrapped in banana leafs are perfect! I tried this place today for the 1st time. Let me make you aware that it is Cash only because I didn't know that (thank goodness I had cash in my purse). I got the Randy taco which was pretty tasty. I got a beef fajita taco with cilantro and onion. It was just okay. I also got a beef fajita torta. The bread was great. The red salsa isn't spicy and tastes a bit sweet to me. The green salsa is not spicy at all, which is what I was hoping it would be. So all in all, it wasn't nasty but I won't be rushing back either. First time visiting, ordered 4 breakfast tacos. I was mind blown at how small these tacos are, what a shame. Bacon was way too hard...Not crispy, hard. Beans were disgusting. Laredo Taco at your local corner store is honestly much better, not to mention bigger. I would have given more grace had the tacos actually been a decent, non-laughable size. Nice place and very friendly staff. Tacos are kind of small but just fix that by getting one more. Lol! Barbacoa was really good! Had it on corn and it wasn't greasy or taste like shredded beef like most places. Chicharon con Salsa was good but needed more salsa. I added the red one they serve and it was great. Bacon and egg with cheese had small pieces of bacon. Like bacon bits, strange. Also, I think it was added after the fact. I prefer it cooked with the egg. Bean and cheese were good. Beans seem home made charro style and then mashed. All the cheese must have been from Mexico. Tasted authentic. Green creamy salsa was good and had a small kick. I liked this on the bean and cheese. Red salsa was roasted and good in anything. Spiciest one in my opinion. Green was very lime flavored and mild. Good on the barbacoa. Piña-aide was pulpy but good. These are hands down the best tacos in Katy. These are traditional taco truck tacos and they are truly delicious. My favorite thing there on the weekends is their menudo. This will fill up even the biggest man and taste better than you can imagine. I would recommend this place to everyone. Craving some tacos and did some yelping prior to finding this little gem out here in Katy! It's nestled in a shopping strip and have never noticed it before. Parking is loose gravel so keep that in mind when driving in and out. Tacos were slightly larger than other tacos stands which to me was a big thumbs up I definitely think others would love this place as well. Chorizo and egg tacos are yummmmmy! One thing about living this deep in Katy is that it's hard to find tacos that are good and a salsa that doesn't disappoint. This place definitely has both! I'm 16 weeks pregnant and don't have much of an appetite but this morning, the taco cravings were hitting hard when I woke up. After reading the reviews about this place, my husband and I decided to give it a try and thanks to other Yelpers, I was able to take a look at the menu and order ahead of time. We decided to go with bacon and egg tacos and one Randy taco. Upon arriving to pick up the order, I noticed the small parking lot was packed (obviously a good sign)! The seating area was clean, spacious, and well-ventilated. The line wasn't long but everyone had fairly large orders so calling ahead was definitely a must. The woman at the cashier was very nice and had my order ready when I was next in line. She was also extremely busy...taking orders at the window, trying to expedite orders to customers in the seating area, and answering the phone to take to-go orders. So, be patient :) The tacos were absolutely delicious and so was the green jalapeño sauce that my husband and I have been unable to find at a lot of other places. The food wasn't greasy either! We will definitely be coming back! If you're in the area and have been on the hunt for a regular taco joint, this is it! She kept answering the phone taking orders while a customer (me) is standing right in front of her. At least look up and say "one moment", but to keep answering the phone without speaking to the customer that drove there.... Do I need to place an order or am I there to just watch you work? When I used to work at Starbucks on Katy Mills Blvd back in 2011, I was craving authentic breakfast tacos one day, and began to ask our regular customers for suggestions. "Stripes!" When I caught I break, I was gonna head over there to see for myself... 30 min to an hour later, she brought us all tacos. They were AMAZING. I've been going back since. Never had dinner there, but the breakfast is a hit. Two tacos and a large, juicy melón(cantaloupe) agua fresca later, and I'm stuffed. Probably because I always do mine up with beans, cheese, avocado, and grilled onion. (You can customize your order!) I always get a Randy taco( look it up) and one with Franks and eggs. That's right. Franks. Hot dog. PLEASE don't knock it till you try it. It actually became my favorite after I accidentally ordered it. It's especially delicious with their green sauce. While on the topic of their green sauce, I must mention theirs is THE BEST I've EVER tasted. EVER. PERIOD. Bitter, spicy, pasty and creamy. Mmm, mmm, MMM!! I've attempted to replicate it at home to no avail. (Got the flavor, just need to get the texture right) They have delicious, mildly pulpy agua frescas. Melón, tamarindo, piña y horchata are the flavors. All are excellent and I order them depending on my mood that day. (Usually feeling the melón) They also offer fresh squeezed orange juice and lemonade. They also have Mexican coke (in the glass bottle for you soda peeps.)
