Found small roaches inside of our drinks, the waitress apologized and called for the manager. Unfortunately the manager was dismissive and only told us they had a visit for the roaches yesterday not even an apology or anything. Made with a lot of lard and a lot of love. Yes there are lots of these locations around, but this one is right in the heart of the very Latin Spring Branch and I love it. What to get: Anything authentic, which is 90% of the menu. What not to get: Pulled over by the racist cops in Spring Branch looking to give tickets to Latinos. Arandas is one of the most useful (*yes, I said useful) restaurant chains in the Houston area because they have a good standard of partially/mostly-authentic Nuevo Laredo-style Mexican Cuisine which tastes good and will fill you right up. And more importantly they are open way into the night. Service can be pretty good or bad depending on who is getting your stuff for you. Arandas has amazing salsa, especially the green one. (Barbie reminded me of that). Everything is good, a little on the greasy side but then so is your Dad whenever he hires me as a rent boy. They are not always in the best areas, this one is right next to my gym in a lovely Latin Barrio, but you won't care because the food here tastes so damn good. Okay, it's not on the level of a La Bala on Bellaire or Regia on Long Point, but we are still talking about excellent Mexican food, even with the extraordinarily high standards in Houston. We've been coming to this restaurant since we were kids and it seems like service has gone down the drain. Food is fine at best, mediocre most times. But the staff is very inattentive giving snarky faces and remarks when we asked for something or had questions. I really wish they would re-evaluate their standards of service. I am disappointed. This is great authentic Mexican food here! I had the ground beef tacos with four tortillas and I could taste how fresh the food was. It took a bit to get the order to the table, but you can definitely taste the "freshness" of the meats and vegetables. I also loved the queso and chips. My friends ordered the giant fresh squeezed orange juice and even that was fresh and refreshing to the tastebuds. I come here very often and yes the food is okay BUT this is not a place you can trust. I order to go from here often and on Friday I went to go have breakfast with my family. When it was time to pay they did not hand me my card back and I didn't notice until I was at the mall not even an hour between. I called them to ask if they had it and they confirmed so we then went back to go pick it up. Later that night I had a charge from Amazon Mx, transfer of $300 and multiple attempt at some western union transfers with the card number being entered manually. I AM filling a police report but I just cannot believe they would do this seeing how I called and know they had my card information. We were sat, a few minutes later another table sat, and another. They got their food and we only got our queso. We ordered the queso at the same time of our entrees so they had to put it in right? Wrong. Everyone got their food and we continued to sit. They told us a large to-go order came in that backed things up... but only ours not the others dining in. Then she TOOK OUR ORDER AGAIN. Finally got some food we asked for a box and the bill because we had to go back to works while they apologized I would have appreciated something for the error THEY made and the lies. Nope. Nothing. Yum! Had the breakfast tacos at 1pm on a Sunday and they were SO worth the drive! I had potato egg and cheese on corn tortillas, and they were seriously the best ones I've ever had. The corn tortillas were obviously homemade, the cheese was really ooey gooey and stringy (which is just how I like it), and the potatoes were small squares that were grilled to perfection rather than deep-fried -- awesome! Tacos with two ingredients are $1.99 each, plus $0.50 for cheese. Cheap! Their green sauce is to die for too, just saying. I was surprised to see that they also sell fresh fruit, so I bought a bunch of bananas while I was there ($0.50 per banana).
