I'm never over on this side of town; which is disappointing because it's where Taquisa is! A coworker told me about Taquisa and invited me to try it the other day. He was talking about how authentic it is and how the food is good home cooking - just like momma used to make! Taquisa makes their Birria with beef, instead of goat meat which is also used, and after describing the dish to me I knew it was something I had to try. Five words: Fall off the bone amazing! The meat was so perfect and tender. It was delicious! Taquisa served a healthy portion complete with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. So I'm headed through W.Covina and notice a green/white/red sign that reads Taquisa, GENERALLY spelled "TAQUIZA" that means they have TACOS so I pull over to check things out (but sorry I don't have my camera with me)...... YES, I ordered Two Tacos de Carne Asada they serve it with meat, onion, cilantro and your salsa is on the side. The red salsa was hot but not the greatest flavor, tortillas were not bad, the Carne Asada was OK cooked well no fat, no gristle but...probably cooked on a flat top? by looking at the coloring and lack of that extra asada flavor.
