My foodie cousins took me here for my birthday dinner. They saw it on Instagram and were immediately obsessed! Plus, they know that I love Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. How were we NOT aware of this gem of a restaurant?!?! Hungry after a long walk through the AT HOME superstore on south 27th street on the hunt for lampshades we noticed a restaurant tucked alongside the edge of a ginormous parking lot & checking it's YELP standing we decided to check it out . Walking inside we were immediately impressed by its decor and soon its service . After finding out we arrived about an too hour early to order what we read was one of the restaurant's specialties - in house baked Manakish - we were quite disappointed so when our lovely server returned to our table to let us know she had gone out of her way to arrange to have an order prepared especially for us to enjoy we were equally as appreciative Though the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol their Mint & Lemon smoothie was deliciously refreshing ! Our meal started with an appetizer of beef Fataya (light crispy small hand pies), Tzatziki (crisp diced cucumber in rich yogurt sauce), Pita, Hummus (wonderfully creamy garnished with olive oil whole chickpeas & Persian spices), Baba Ghannouj ( delightfully smokey) & Tabbouleh (incredibly fresh & flavorful ). Then came the entrees. Our combo Cheese & Zatar Manakish (a MUST order.... sooooo good) , Mosakhan (FABULOUS home baked flat bread topped with a rich succulent blend of sweet onions cooked to savory perfection with lemon, olive oil and sumac topped with a roasted half of chicken) and Sawani Kufta ( consisting of large patty of ground beef, swimming in a glorious tahini sauce topped with discs of crisply cooked potatoes & - be forewarned- a very spicy roasted pepper!). As full as we were after such incredible food we knew we just HAD to order dessert so order we did - Pistachio Baklava - it was in a world HEAVENLY especially complimented by mint tea. When it comes to the menu ... well what can we say... everything was so inviting yes we admit we overdid the ordering but oh so glad we did as enjoying our leftovers has been an additional treat. Oddly the online price is 20% or more higher than then we paid to pick it up. Either way all and I mean everything was way better than I expected and I expected allot. Sorry don't know all the names but the 3 shish kabob were very tasty, at worst the beef and chicken were a tiny bit dryer than I like but the flavors of all 3 were perfect. Oddly I was shocked by the flavor of the bread, looked like a pita to me but it was over the roof fresh and flavorful. Weird to say about some dough, but wow. We heard from a TikTok it was a woman owned restaurant, so we decided to check it out one week night. So glad we did because it was so delicious!!! It is nicely decorated inside and the servers were very nice. The Baba ganoush was delicious and so flavorful. The mixed grill was the way to go for me so I could taste a couple different things. My husband got the Mosakhan and the caramelized onions on top were delicious. We finished with the pistachio and cheese baklava and they were flaky and the perfect level of sweetness.
