The staff and owners were super sweet, but the food seemed old. The chicharon was a but chewy and he refried it before he gave it to us. The singing was good, buy the veggies were a butbold looking. The flavor was there..so we enjoyed the broth and the pork. We would rate that an 8, buy that's not considering the very old look bokchoy. Would drop it to a 6 if we included that. The rice was good and was fresh. Wasn't old rice. So that's also a plus! They didn't have ice after kunchbso we also could not get halo halo. The fish was also not very crispy and had too much dried seasoning ontop. The price was good for the meal and if you het their two entree meal deal it's not bad. I doubt inbound go there again, bug they did have a regular who goes there. For the area it's worthwhile to go and check them out. Again they were super friendly and the reason the food was probably overcooked or old looming is they don't seem to have a lot of people coming in. It could be the area of the type of food the community is interest in. They do not have a large asian community. So this could be th reason.

I ordered a two combo entree to go: pancit with pork adobo and deep fried shrimp. The pancit was good but I feel like it is missing something. I need to compare it with others in the area. The pork adobo was good and the meat was tender. The fries shrimp was good and moist inside. Ordering was similar to the previous restaurant. Linda of like a buffet style or a quick serve. The restaurant is brighter and new wall dressings. Still it only has a few two top seats. I generally ont Ly get it to go. I think if you're in a pinch for Filipino food this can be a good spot for you. IMHO: I wish they were open longer, closing at 6 pm limits the possibilities of late diners.

Yes, this is the old Lola's Kusina but it's not. It's brighter inside and there's some new owners or at least some new management. It's amazing what some paint and lighting can do. It's like the same menu but all of the entrées we bought tonight were less salty and still tasted delicious. Both the chicken and pork adobo were tender and seasoned well. The pancit was moist not dried out like a lot of places. This is new, made in house garlic chili crisp. They spooned me up a small sample and it was delicious. Oh, it's made with olive oil...nice. Super nice couple running the show, fast with answers to food questions and genuine with see you agains. Last words...that's a lot of food!

Went back and hubs got the pork adobo over rice! Very generous portion. I got the Piccadillo and pork with potatoes, carrots and bell peppers. We couldn't finish either our meals so worth every cent. They also had fried plantains from Porto's so that was a plus. I got another jar of binagoong as it tasted just right! Got a jar of their chili oil to try and a dozen lumpia Shanghai. We couldn't get more but wanted to. I hope to come back on our next trip back!

Pour out a little sabaw for Lola's Kusina. I was truly sad when they shut their doors. Thankfully the doors have reopened as Tara Mangan Keni (or if I heard them right on the phone "Tara's"). The concept remains the same; choose a combo plate or ala cart from the many items on the hot food line. I had pinakbet and sinigang with half rice, half pancit as well as some Shanghai lumpia. The pinakbet was delicious and loaded with pumpkin, eggplant and bittermelon. Sinigang was equally good with the perfect amount of sour! The Shanghai lumpia was cooked to order. This is where there might have been a recipe change. The filling seemed to have finely chopped veggies along with the meat. The sauce is now brown and not as sweet as sweet chili. Still delicious and probably healthier! If you're familiar with Filipino food, you'll feel right at home with the selection of ulam. If you're new to Filipino food, this is a great place to try something new. Lastly, it warmed my heart to see the previous owner behind the counter helping out the new owners. I think they're family? Glad to support this small, family owned business as they enter a new era!

    String

Found a piece of string in my food. Not too sure if I ate some since the string blended well in the food

    "Pancit"... not really
    Terri M.

I came in for pancit and lumpia. They add a lot of stuff in the Shanghai lumpia, but it was still very tasty. The pancit was more like pasta noodles with a bunch of stuff in it. Pancit is usually a glass or rice noodle with very minimal stuff in it. This "pancit" had a lot of excess and random stuff in it.

    Formerly Lola's Kucina

Was in Marina craving Filipino food and tried this place. Ordered 1 entree combo for $12.99. Steamed rice and Pancit was ok-portion of rice to Pancit was off. Too much rice and not enough Pancit. Also ordered 2 pork Lumpia-was not cooked long enough and was lukewarm to cold on the inside. Was previously frozen. Other items were displayed buffet style behind the counter behind glass. Did not look appetizing which I decided to not try the pork Adobo, which is another one of my favorites. Service was pleasant and two people working behind the counter-basically an order-to-go kinda place. Ambiance was none-nowhere to sit and lots of clutter everywhere -I ended up eating in my car. As a local and Filipino I was not impressed and I have tasted better-I won't be back-I will try other options next time. This place is formally Lola's Kucina.

    Food is ready to go!

I was genuinely impressed by how much it's been updated. The remodel looks great -- the new flooring alone makes the whole space feel cleaner and more modern. The front entrance feels more open now, and I love that the cold goods are immediately to the right when you walk in, which makes browsing much easier. They've also expanded their selection quite a bit, especially when it comes to Filipino desserts and breads. Seeing items from Valerio's Bake Shop was such a nice surprise and brought back even more memories. On top of that, they often have a variety of "exotic" fruits displayed out front, which is always fun to browse and not something you find at basic grocery stores. It still has that familiar, comforting neighborhood market feel -- just refreshed and elevated. If you grew up shopping here like I did, or if you're looking for a solid local spot for Filipino ingredients, desserts, and unique produce, this market is absolutely worth a visit.

We had a party of nine. Shortly after we were seated, a party of well-dressed ladies that the employees seemed to be familiar with, so I can only guess they were "regulars", arrived. When we first got there, it was fine, but once the other party arrived, we were completely cast aside. We ordered two cups of coffee that we observed an employee walk around with for 20 minutes, stopping to chat , before he plopped it down on a counter before our server brought it to our table. Needless to say, it was already cold. As far as other drinks, we didn't order any. We all drank water and we weren't offered a refill literally until the end when we were almost done with our meal. They were tending to the other party the entire time. When I saw that the other party received all their meals before we did - even though we were there, seated and ordered before they were, I stopped what I can only guess was the manager (dare I say an owner?) and said, "Excuse me sir, we got here before the other party and they've already gotten their food, and we're still waiting." His response was not, "I'm sorry it's taking so long. Let me check on it." Or "I know it's been a while, your food is coming right out." He actually said to me in an irritated tone, "Well because they got all fried food and you got all grilled!" And walked away. And here's the kicker - all our food wasn't grilled. Most of us ordered salads. Granted one had chicken and one had salmon, but who says this to a customer? I honestly wouldn't have cared so much about getting our food after the other party had he responded differently but for someone in the food service industry to treat a customer that way is just gross; for someone to run a business that way is just gross. I wanted to walk out of there without paying, because honestly, the food was gross and the service made it even worse. We got an order of egg rolls (that were all lumpia wrapper with no meat, by the way), my Caesar salad? Every piece of lettuce in my salad was the core, so I pretty much picked out the chicken, and to top it off we ordered clams, which wasn't even part of the delay because they forgot to include it in the order all together. Don't even get me started about how he couldn't answer the question about the menu. I'm Filipino, and that was an insult to Filipino food and to Filipino hospitality. I have so many family and friends in the food service industry and for this reason, I have never given less than 20% gratuity. I cringed doing that here, but I honestly wanted to leave nothing. That's how bad the taste Edwin's left in my mouth. Do better next time. No matter who enters your restaurant, treat all your customers with some warmth, no matter who they are, even if they aren't your regulars, don't make out-of-towners feel like you're doing THEM a favor by LETTING you feed them. Everyone who enters your doors helps keeps your doors open. They have a lot of restaurant choices in the area. Don't make them regret choosing yours.

I really wanted to love this place…read more We came across this cute corner spot in Carmel flying a Filipino flag, and as a Filipino myself, I was so excited to see Filipino food represented here. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to that excitement. After being seated with menus, we waited about 15 minutes without anyone checking in, offering water, or asking for a drink order. It honestly felt like we had walked into a private gathering, as staff were engaged in long conversations with other tables. Since we were already pretty hungry and hadn't even received water, we decided to leave, so I can't comment on the food itself. This is a bit of a late review, as the visit happened just shy of New Year's Eve. To be fair, they may have been understaffed or we came on an off day, but it was still disappointing. I hope others have a better experience.

The cheesecake selection was pretty good - about 12 different flavors. The cheesecake texture is softer and more of a whipped consistency rather than a dense cheesecake, which I definitely prefer. This is a grab and go counter, though you could technically stay and eat it there since there was some seating.
