I used to go to other big box retailers for my glasses today I came in because I needed my glasses repaired for whatever reason the screw fell out of my Ray-Ban's. Called and called & no answer, to notify them that I was being held up elsewhere.I didn't want the office to lose money. My first time trying out this location,unsure what the office situation/ set-up would be compared to the cerritos location during this pandemic. Not knowing what to do, I rushed from Torrance to Lakewood. Issue (s) is that not only did they not answer the phone but they were NOT accommodating what so ever & bad customer service. Got there & the ladies were NOT the nicest. Hey! I'm not the enemy here, I am just trying to get some contacts & glasses for my very high prescription! Lady was snarky AF, a heavier set woman with a dark complexion/Hispanic. I didn't catch her name. Don't give an "if" option, just tell me I'm inconveniencing every body there. If I didn't want to be seen then WHY WOULD I EVEN WASTE MY TIME IN WAITING. Waited for 1 hour and a half just to be told to reschedule. Not very good customer service. Target Optical - Can you please answer the phones? - Optometrists Near Me - Lakewood, California

Shocking that I was scammed at a Target of all places. 1. Dishonest Staff. 2. No Full Cost Breakdown of Glasses at Time of Purchase. When you buy your frames, you get the breakdown after you receive glasses you already bought. Instead, at the time of purchase, they give you one total cost that they charge you. This ALLOWS the sales associate to do all kinds of hidden add-ons and give you half truths or just no information at all. See "My Experience" for details. 3. Deceptive Sales & Pressure Tactics. If you have the bravery to ask if there is any way to make the price lower, then they will tell you what the price is. You then pressure them then suddenly it is revealed that there are indeed cheaper lenses but they are terrible and you should never get them. 4. Do not tell you when your glasses arrive. Target Optical feels like a separate entity then the Target Store in all possible ways. You have to call them because they don't tell you. 5. Eyeglasses make me dizzy and nausea. I am told this is a normal part of the process and other places adjust it for you. When I went to get my glasses and put them on, I asked if anything could be adjusted and the sales associate said, "the prescription is the prescription." After I got my glasses and looked at the website for the particular frames, I realized I was lied to 5 times during the in person sales process. My Experience: (if you care or if you want to figure out if you were lied too) The sales person made a good suggestion for a frame time. I felt like I could trust this person and on the surface she seemed very helpful and polite. After I choose my frames the female sales associate with glasses, dark hair and a bit of skill will do a verbal consultation to ask you questions and "figure out" the price of the glasses. "How do you use your glasses? Oh, in front of a computer, you need blue light blocking lenses." (Never told me that it cost extra! I did not notice at that moment what she did until later in the transaction. Lie 1.) Then, she goes to the computer and gives you the total cost. My EyeMed plan covers the entire amount for the frames (up to $150 but I got $127 frames) but does not cover the lenses but gives discounts. It was around $200+ for some lenses only. The cost is not broken down AT ALL (which is a HUGE RED FLAG btw). She gave me no information except a paper with a total sum. Then when inquiring about the cost some of the "truth" comes out. (She is still partially lying and successfully deceived me.) I asked her if there was any way prices for lenses could be cheaper. I asked her if the blue light blocking cost extra. Then, she revealed it did and was doing math with a pen on that total cost and that it was only around $45. She said that Target only had "cheap plastic lenses" and glass lenses. The plastic lenses were not glass, really bad and cheap because those lenses were really bad. That I would regret buying them. (Lie 2. On the website, all lenses for my frame were plastic. The lenses recommended for prescription were the cheaper plastic ones in the +2 -2 range. The polycarbonate lenses were recommended for +4 -4 over my prescriptions. Polycarbonate IS plastic). Not revealing to your customer that I had a cheaper option of lenses from the start is also deceitful and falls under lying. (Lie 3.) Lie number 4. Lied about how lens coating options work. I asked about the different lens coatings and if I could just get Anti-Scratch. She said that you cannot buy one type of lens coating. That "glass" ALL came in one coating package AUTOMATICALLY with the lenses. Total lie. On the website and later on my receipt the Anti-Reflective is separate from the other coatings. I paid $75 extra for a specific Anti-Reflective. Others might say, why did you not just walk away from this deal? My EyeMed $150 frame credit ended at the end of the year and I went the last day. I had full faith in the Target brand, which I always had good experiences with. This was the LAST place I thought this would happen to me. Never expected to be lied to at least 4 times. With a 90 day return policy, I am going to return the glasses. This means I take the loss of $150 credit from my insurance. Since I don't have insurance anymore, it's a real hit for me. Writing this review was hard because I felt ashamed. Writing all the details, I feel like reliving a trauma. Still, I feel strongly that I should not support businesses or people that lie and take advantage of others. As ashamed as I feel, I need to speak out so people don't get taken advantage of. My sister and I went in to get an eye exam for contacts and glasses. Dr. Alice Pang was super cool, she was so thorough. My sister and I, could not be more thrilled to have found her. We both have different eye needs, but Dr. Pang did not rush us, as she patiently guided us through each procedure. Liza is also really nice. She is quick and efficient. She did not push for a sale, and let me browse around and ask her any questions when I have them. She also helped me a pair of glasses that was just my style without having to compromise. NEVER PLACED MY CONTACTS ORDER. The male receptionist has the worst attitude and doesn't seem to really want to help. They called back to see how the contact trails were going for me. When I stated they were working well and I would like to place an order, he stated that was fine and went ahead and told me he would place an order for me and I would be able to pay when I arrive to get them. 3 weeks pass and I call, but no one answers so I walk in. The woman working at the moment told me that they never placed the order, that actually, they never place orders for people over the phone. I was so perplexed. I'm wearing broken glasses waiting for contacts that... were never placed. Why didn't he call back when he realized he couldn't place an order? First, important to understand the Optometrist is separate from optical store, so rate the Dr separately. FYI she's great, very nice, very thorough and a pleasure. The OPTICAL.... Ridiculous! So here's the deal, when you go to a specialist they should know their products and quote accurate timelines. This place ..NOT! Came in, wasn't sure what I wanted, voice my frustration in picking a frame.... Nothing, no "what do you like" or "hey this is a new style" or "hey these might look good on you"... so I grab a Rayban frame, gave them a second pair for lenses, paid and left. I get an email a few days later stating my prescription can't be accommodated with this frame and THEY've picked a frame for me at no additional expense. LMAO, no way am I going to let that happen. I call, no answer, I call again no answer...call five times that day...NO ANSWER. I live in OC and work on LA, Lakewood is my middle point and why I selected that location. Have to leave early from work to stop by during the day, manager tells me they have no way of knowing about the frame conflict, "we have to listen to the lab." I pick a new frame, listen to her annoying BS and bounce. Day 11 of waiting, no frames, no call, so I call again, and again then on the third call someone picks up. I simply introduce myself and ask when my frames will be available ...the girl starts to lecture me on production time and they're not ready although my frame (that I left for lenses) are ready. How that happened I have no idea... So today, day 13 of their "10-15 business day production period" I stop by and immediately get the standard "every customer response" and a tone that suggests I'm ignorant or a bother to her morning and of course I challenge the disingenuous response. OK, so when will they be ready... wait for it... sometime next week. Let's review, today is day 13 of 15, in two days is day 15 and at some point next week I might get my glasses so that would put this at perhaps day 16-21 of the 10-15 day production period. So I ask: do you know what day? NO. can you check with the lab? NO. Can you expedite? NO. Can you get a supervisor involved? NO. Can I contact a supervisor? NO. Can I get a corporate phone #? NO. Sir you are being rude, leave the store. WHAAAT? So here is for those that forget to train their employees on customer service: as a customer, I have a right to ask when I can expect a product I have paid for and you've billed my insurance for. I have a right to an explanation that is logical and provides a solution. I shouldn't be dismissed because some life challenged front desk wannabe hates to start her day at 10:00 am dealing with customers disappointed with their inability to operate their business properly. So here I am, day 13 and no glasses. I should have gone to LensCrafters. Just sayin... And yes, on my way out I told her she was a POS. Best experience ever! I have been wearing glasses since elementary school so I have experience with different optometrists and assistants. Dr. Alice Pang was so sweet and professional. She was able to explain to me everything regarding my vision in ways that I could understand and also went the extra step to email me images of my eye. Liza was also extremely nice and helpful when it came to choosing my glasses. I tend to be indecisive, but she was so patient and was able to be honest enough to tell me if a pair looked bad on my face shape. I finally went with the Ray Bans pictured here. I also ordered some Armani Exchange sunglasses at a great price. I just have to say that in all, they are very great and I would definitely recommend. They know how to treat patients. read more

ADRIANA needs to turn her attitude around or leave your position if you don't like your job! I have visited this target 3 times now. My first experience was great. I went in to browse at their frames since I had never made an eyeglass purchase with Target Optical. I was created nicely by Adriana which I guess was the only time she was in a good mood. She helped me choose some frames and broke down the price for me and I also ended up buying a pair of sunglasses. She made the experience so fun and easy. The second time I visited was 90 days later to return my sunglasses on the last return day. I found my self to only use them 3-5 times during that summer of 2018. So I figured let me return them because I don't use them as much as I thought I would. She had such an attitude when I was returning them. I'm sure she works on commission which sucks that she's going to get hit for that but I didn't like them. I also work in sales and that was no way to handle the situation. I was disappointed to have her treat me like that after she was so nice and sweet the first time I met her. My third visit, she was even worse. I went in to get a quote for my mom. I walked towards Adriana because I remembered her and I thought I'd give her another shot. To hell with that!!! She had the bitchiest attitude, girl you work commission turn your damn attitude around ! I kept it cool because I was with my mom, but she talked to me so rudely and bothered that I was there trying to buy from her shop. Target optical please let this girl go. She's not good for business and isn't helping you close deals. Buying eyeglasses is a process that comes with lots of questions so don't talk down to people for wanting a quote or wanting to know what they're paying for . I wear glasses and I know they are expensive and still like to price around before buying. Which is what my mom wanted to do. Sadly I won't be coming here. Dr. Pang is great. The 2 stars are for the "A New Day" brand glass that I purchased. My fault for purchasing this brand which really wasn't less expensive than the luxottica I have purchased in the past. I have a pair of Kors I wish I could just get new lenses in because they fit so well. I had a pair of Burberry that were great. My fault for coming here in the first place because I didnt want to go across town then across town again to pick up glasses. But tonight... 3 months after my eye exam, I am ordering glasses online to replace my 3 month old glasses after I tried to repair them myself which has been a nightmare. Now the nightmare is trying to translate the prescription into the order form because I need the reading glasses only. Wish I could just snap a photo of it. So this is my 3rd review on this target optical, and each review got better. *i cant comment on any upsales as i went all out on my glasses anyways lol* I can honestly say the last two times i went in, i had no issues and a pleasent experience. I really never wanted to give them another chance after what happened the first time around (see previous reviews) but my glasses broke and under the protection plan/warranty so I had too. So upon picking up my glasses from the same employee I dropped them off too (I think the manager tbh) I got them quickly, was asked if everything felt good (nose pads and glasses arms wise) so she would adjust them to my liking, but everything was perfect. I think I really just got a new employee that had no clue how to adjust glasses and shouldn't of even been handling glasses. read more

Went through all the hassle of giving them my insurance information for them to schedule me a whole week later. 1 day prior to my appointment they call me while I'm at work and leave me a voicemail saying to call them back to confirm my appointment. This is one day before my appointment I made last week. I call back after I got off work and no answer but I left a voicemail like it said. The morning of the appointment no call from them at ALL so I call them and they said the appointment was given to someone else. I wasted a whole weeks times and hassle just for them to write me off like that. They didn't even plan on calling me back more than once or the day of. Most clinics have a text to confirm option but this outdated spot decides to call people while they're at work just to cancel you a day before your appointment. AT LEAST TRY MORE THAN ONCE TO CALL YOUR CUSTOMERS! I'll be taking my business elsewhere and piling the bad reviews on this spot. DON'T GO HERE read more

First, I'd like to say that I was very pleased with the fact that I could schedule an appointment online-- this is what initially got me interested in giving Target Optical a shot. I was called shortly after to confirm the appointments for both of my daughters. This was my 8 and 6 year old's first experience with an optometrist. Dr. Pang was extremely patient and kind to my daughters while they sat through various parts of their eye exams. Both ended up needing glasses -- one for just reading/screen time and one needed to wear glasses full time. She made sure they were aware of their new responsibilities and answered any questions they had for her. VERY sweet, I would follow her wherever she goes for our lifelong eye exams. Picking out frames was a task -- one daughter knew what she wanted right away, the other was a little picky. The ladies that helped with picking out frames were patient with my oldest daughter and tried their best to find something she would like. Overall, we had a great experience! I wish I would've caught the ladies names that helped but all 3 that were present were very friendly and patient with 3 kids in their space. Thank you, ladies! read more

AWFUL service and professionalism. I called over two weeks ago for an appointment because I am desperate to get new glasses and contacts. The girl I make an appointment with confirms my new phone number two times when they make the appt for me. I confirmed it with her a third time before hanging up. I get there for my appointment and guess what? They canceled it without my knowledge stating that because they called me and I didn't confirm, that it was canceled. I ask her why this wasn't told to me on the phone, and why they couldn't get a hold of me. She states that "she's sorry for the inconvenience, and they can see me at 2pm" that's it. Nothing to address their serious error, nothing to address that appointments are made and kept because that's what people NEEDED WHEN THEY MADE THE APPOINTMENT. This is all during a time when everyone doesn't have time to play with their time, money, or appointments for healthcare... Shame on this entire office and especially shame on the woman on the front for doing nothing to rectify their inadequacies or their failure to provide services and keep their appointments. read more

I appreciate everything about Target Optical Lakewood. They remember you personally. Whenever I am at the Lakewood mall I always drop by to say hi to Lisa. They definitely welcome me like family and it is more like catching up with a friend. When picking out the frames (I am very indecisive), the women are extremely patient, helpful and honest with what shape fits your face shape. When I could not see while driving at night (ekk!), I redid my prescription with Dr. Pang & she knew exactly what was wrong (my Kaiser optical prescription had it all wrong). The cost is so affordable and they are very upfront with how much everything will come out to be. Thank you for all the hard work you gals do! I definitely highly recommend them! read more

When I was having a hard time reading the street names while driving or seeing if the woman across the bar smiling at me and throwing signals was attractive, I definitely KNEW I had to get my eyes checked lol. I never knew Target had it's own optical place until I was shopping around one day at Lakewood Mall and stumbled upon it. Liza and Adriana were very professional and knowledgeable when I first visited so I made my appointment. Come the day of my appointment, I was checked in and seen by Dr. Pang right away. I was very impressed with the high tech equipment that the doctor used to and assess my vision. It was definitely state of the art! Dr. Pang made me feel comfortable during my visit and didn't laugh when I couldn't read the bottom 2 rows of the eye chart lol. After a few tests, she was able to dial in where my vision should be and exactly what grade of lenses that I needed. It was like night and day when she had me look through the lenses that she was prescribing for me. The appointment with her took about 20 minutes which may sound short but in no means was she cutting corners to get me in and out of there. She was very thorough. When that was done, I sat down with Liza to pick out my frames and it took a while because I'm very picky. Liza was very patient and showed me several options based on what I was looking for in regards to style, price, and purpose. I FINALLY FOUND the one! I'm an old school type of guy so I decided to go with the Malcom X / Michael Douglass -Falling Down type of Mossimo frames lol. The only difference is the bottom of the glasses are more rectangular shaped than oval. Liza went over a few more additional options that were available to me and after all was said and done, my glasses are in the process of being made! I should be able to get them within 5 business days and I can't wait! My overall experience with the service and staff at the Target Optical Lakewood Mall was a pleasant one and will definitely recommend them to my family and friends for all their vision needs. The next time I go to the bar with my new glasses on, I can definitely scan the place with confidence knowing that I can clearly see if the woman across the bar is beautiful or beautiful after a few more drinks LOL just kidding! read more
