I scheduled and paid for a contact lens exam, expecting the exam to be performed before being fitted for contact lenses. Instead, I was immediately taken into a room and given trial contact lenses based solely on my eyeglasses prescription. When I asked whether an exam would be performed first, I was told it was not necessary because my glasses prescription would be used. After trying approximately five different pairs of contacts, I repeatedly explained that I still could not see clearly. I was eventually sent home with a pair and told that my eyes would "adjust" throughout the day. While speaking with the front desk, I politely asked questions about the contact lens process because my previous experiences at other offices had always included an exam before fitting contacts. The owner overheard the conversation and came out appearing visibly upset. She then offered to perform the exam, saying, "We have time now," but only after hearing me question the process. At that point, I felt uncomfortable and no longer confident in the care I was receiving. As a paying customer, I believe I have every right to ask questions and understand the services I am receiving. No patient should feel intimidated for seeking clarification about their care. After leaving, my eyes became extremely itchy and very red. When I checked one of the contact lens samples I had been given, I discovered it had expired in January 2025--approximately 17 months ago. I contacted the office to request a refund and asked that my vision insurance not be billed. Unfortunately, I later learned that the person involved was the owner, so there was no higher management to address my concerns. The entire experience left me upset and in tears. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience and would encourage others to ask questions and carefully review any contact lenses they are given before wearing them.

I ordered frames on April 14, with an expected delivery date of April 22. That seemed reasonable. One week, maybe two at most. No problem. Fast forward almost two months later, and apparently my glasses had entered the witness protection program. I called about three weeks ago to check on the order and was told everything was fine, they were still on the way, and I should have them shortly. So I waited. No call. No update. No glasses. Today I finally went into the store in person to find out what was going on. The employee looked up the order and discovered that the frames had supposedly shipped and were lost in the mail almost two months ago. So basically, when I called three weeks ago, someone either did not actually check, did not know what they were doing, or just gave me the "everything is fine" customer-service lullaby while my order was already missing in action. Naturally, I was frustrated. I said, in front of other customers, that I ordered something almost two months ago that was supposed to take about a week or two, I had already called to follow up, and nobody bothered to contact me or solve the problem. A few customers laughed, because honestly, the situation was ridiculous. Nobody expects to wait two months for frames that were supposed to arrive in less than two weeks. Instead of owning the mistake or offering a solution, the employee seemed more upset that I said it out loud in front of other customers than he was about the fact that Ray-Ban had taken my order, lost track of it, failed to follow up, and left me to discover the problem myself. When I asked what they were going to do about it, he had no answer and told me I needed to speak with the manager because he did not want to deal with me. I asked when the manager would be in, and he said "noon." Since it was around 6 PM, I pointed out that noon had already sailed off into yesterday's sunset. He clarified that he meant noon tomorrow. The whole thing felt like a comedy sketch, except I was the customer who paid money and still had no glasses. I understand that shipping issues happen. Packages get lost. Mistakes happen. But the real problem here is the complete lack of follow-up, the bad information I was given when I called, and the attitude I received when I finally came in to ask where my order was. Ray-Ban is a great brand, but this store's customer service was absolutely unacceptable. When a customer spends money with you and waits almost two months for something that was supposed to take a week or two, the correct response is not attitude. The correct response is accountability, an apology, and a solution. Please be cautious ordering from this location. I still love Ray-Ban products, but this experience was handled terribly from start to finish.

The center is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, which made getting there easy. When you walk in, it looks like a retail eyewear store--there are glasses on display and several desks where staff help with prescription requests or glasses purchases. There's also a check-in desk specifically for vision appointments. Appointments start as early as 7:00 AM and go until 5:40 PM. I was seen within 10 minutes of checking in. Both the pre-test process and the time with the doctor were smooth, professional, and efficient.

I have always had annual physical exams and lab/blood work. I've been seeing the same optometrist outside of the Kaiser network since 1995. I thought I'd venture outside of my optometrist to see how optometry is with the Kaiser network. Because of the hole and bleeding she messaged the chief optometrist, he didn't respond and they then contacted me a day later for another eye exam with the chief optometrist at the Baldwin Hills location. The chief optometrist couldn't find and didn't see a hole and informed the blood would clear up. I don't think I'll be back to this location next year. They don't tell you what to do if you want to window shop or actually purchase frames. Some woman that sits at the desks and they help you order frames came up to me and asked if I needed help after her and her colleagues joked and had casual conversation which was loud and I think a bit unprofessional. The only pleasant experience I think was checking in, those folks were friendly and down to earth.

I sat down because it was taking long. Another woman walked in after me and they helped her instead. I engaged with another worker who asked me if I wanted an eye exam or eyes and contacts. I said eye exam only. I told her I had insurance. She said they would process it. I had the exam then after paying and leaving noticed that an extra retina scan for $40 was charged. I didn't ask for it and no one said it was part of the exam. Upon checking out, the same clerk who ignored me earlier charged me but did not check insurance causing me to pay more. I had to go back the next weekend (because you can't call the store directly ) to have my insurance processed. When I returned, I asked about the extra retina scan that I didn't ask for and the lady said, "the doctor likes to do them". She did apologize that no one told me about the extra charge but blamed it on being a very busy day. You should have to opt in not be forced to get an optional product.

I flat out told the guy I wanted the same glasses - classic Ray Ban Wayfarers in matte black - I already had and they made for me a couple years earlier. He said they no longer made them in matte black. So I asked for them in glossy. He spent another 20 minutes digging around and said they no longer made those either. Now, this set my spider sense off because Ray Ban not making classic Wayfarers is like McDonald's no longer serving hamburgers. So I politely say I'll look around and get back to them. I leave, spend two minutes on the Ray Ban website, and find the exact glasses I was asking for. I call the office back, get another sales rep, and tell him I was just in and wanted to order these glasses. He finds them instantly - same number that was on the glasses I showed the original rep. The new guy tells me I'll have to work with the original salesman - the guy who didn't really know what he was doing - and I'm kinda like "Do I have to?" He politely chuckles and assures me I'll hear back from the other guy within the day. Two days later and I never heard a peep. Get your eyes checked there but buy your glasses elsewhere. I practically spoon fed the guy a sale and couldn't even a call back. Disappointing. Updated Review 4/5 - I was contacted by Dr. Zelaya less than 24 hours after posting this review to make this situation right. I was given a quote for the order, clear communication, and assured that the consumer service issue would be addressed with the staff. I decided to order my third pair of glasses through their office.
