Two Nigerians decide to try another spot... we went on a Sunday afternoon just after 1pm. As the only guest, we were served rather quickly, albeit a small portion for the price. Certainly not fresh food but possibly only a day old. I get that you may desire to make large batches and reheat, but customers can tell. Up the block at KingsWay, the food tastes and looks like it's prepared daily. Rice is Smokey and cooked well, suya is dusted with seasoning but not served like one would expect and not very spicy. The moi moi was a surprise. I bought some food home to my dad and he says, "every Nigerian wants to open a restaurant to make money. It's not easy." Looks like a nice lounge. I really liked my drink. Bartender is good. The waiter was very kind and smiled and answered questions well. I would look at figuring out what you are as an establishment and stick with that. I wasn't drinking so I decided to try something on the menu. The bartender encouraged me to get the Suya. Flavor wise it was good but the cut of meat was a TERRIBLE choice. The vibes are great in here and the place has plenty of parking. They just need a better cut of meat and the suya would be FYE. am writing this review while still at the restaurant, feeling compelled to share my disappointing experience. I ordered the jollof rice with dark meat, but unfortunately, my request was ignored. Instead, I served chicken breasts, and when I raised the issue, the staff argued with me about the meat type. I decided to order the suya with jollof rice as an alternative, only to be surprised when my food was served on a plastic plate, which was unexpected for a dining establishment. To add to my disappointment, when the bill arrived, I noticed that I was still charged for the jollof rice with chicken that I didn't eat!!!!! When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was informed that the restaurant offers both white and dark meat options. If this is indeed the policy, it should have been communicated to me by the waitress who assured me that the jollof rice came with dark meat. Despite my husband's willingness to pay for the meal and add a tip, I declined as I do not believe in rewarding poor service. This decision seemed to upset the waitress, who was on the verge of arguing with me. I politely informed her that my husband would not be leaving a tip as per my request. Overall, the food was mediocre, the service was subpar, and the wait time for assistance was excessive. I would advise others to avoid this establishment to save themselves from a similar experience. Where do I even begin. I went to this establishment on March 31 at approximately around 830pm. I ordered egusi with fish and goat , stew chicken with jollof rice and suya. The soya beef was extremely tough and chewy. There were a few beef pieces that was edible. I tasted the egusi and it was absolutely disgusting. Now let me say Ive eaten egusi plenty times before, so I know what the flavors and seasoning should taste like. The stew chicken was extremely dry and tough as well. I would 10000% not recommend anyone to eat here. I asked the server Will Addy for my receipt and explained to him that I did not like the food. He stated I'll go speak to the manager and get back to you. He came back and said the manager said I still have to pay for the food even though I did not eat any of it. I said please have the manager come out here. The manager/chef Crystal Olutope came out and said what seems to be the problem. I stated I did not like the food. She said unfortunately there's nothing I can do for you and you have to pay for the food whether you ate it or not. She did offer any other options as in would you like to switch your food for something else or I can offer you a discount. I couldn't believe how unprofessional an establishment can be. If I could've left zero reviews I would've. Being in law enforcement I didn't want no problems So I went ahead and paid for the meal even though you can see in the picture it was uneatend. . We made a reservation with this restaurant for about 30 people last Sunday . We ordered different food , it took them about 3 hours to serve the food , I asked the manager the reason why the food was delayed he answered that they don't keep food in the freezer , they serve fresh food . I told the team members to wait patiently for the fresh food . To my surprise , all the food that was served there should be in the trash and not meant for human consumption . The annoying part is that they kept us there for a long time to serve us rubbish . The health officials need to investigate this restaurant . I am very disgusted and highly disappointed . read more

The food was nasty and made my family sick. We literally threw up the food on our way home and once we got home. The beef Suya was gristly, the chicken was dark throughout--a chicken leg has some white, but this was completely black and we did not consume it. The Jollof Rice was overly scorched. It wasn't burnt but it had an overwhelming scorched taste. It was consumable. The plantains were good. The server was extremely kind and so was the owner. We expressed our opinions about the food and he said Nigerian food meat is tougher. My BIL is Nigerian and we never ever have had tough meat. We eat at the restaurant, Suya all the time and it's not tough nor did it make us sick, EVER. The owner gave us a complementary Hookah which was nice. Unfortunately, we will not be going back nor would we recommend. I paid 60$ to throw up. Never again. read more

Unfortunately the food was terrible. We order jolloff rice with chicken, beef and fish and it was the worst. They gave us tiny pieces. The food looked old and overcooked. So I am just going to say I was blown away by the excellent customer service! It is nothing I have ever experienced in a Nigerian restaurant. The staff were extremely professional-and niceee. The place is clean, and very organized. There is enough parking and the location is easy to access. They also host some international Nigerian artist from what I heard. This is a place you should try, if you ate in the DMV area. I was told they cater for parties as well and also ship out of state( on a case by case basis depending on logistics). This is a small business I think you should support. read more

I typically dont dont do reviews online but I had to shout out/give a BIG bravo to Tarmac lounge aka one of the best African restaurant in the DMV. Not only is the food phenomena ( I MEAN IT GUYs... they also cater other variety of food aka american food ). I have driven from VA to MD just to visit Tarmac lounge and their delicious food/awesome customer service. The icing on the cake at tarmac lounge is the music. If only there was a way to rate this place zero stars!! I came to a party hosted by this restaurant yesterday and let me say that it was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at any establishment in my entire time on planet earth. We paid $20 to enter only to find that we would never receive service. The cashier/bartender/waitress/manager was unable to do any of her titles successfully. Her infractions included but are not limited to; rudeness, ignoring patrons, serving people out of order, and limiting the drink selections. On top of all that she was very unhospitable, rude, and snarky. Naturally after waiting 30 mins to place a drink order at the bar I questioned how long would it take to place order. She replied by saying that the people she was serving came first which was a total fabrication. She then paused for 3 secs (as if she was restraining herself from saying something rude)and gave me a Claire Huxtable side eye and said that she was doing the best she could as she rolled her eyes and started speaking in her native language. Then she proceeded to complete the other patrons order without even returning to me so I could then place an order. At that point I decided to leave. This place was not going to get any of my coins. I was told that the lady operating the bar was the owner or manager....not sure if it was or not. If so shame on her for operating such a janky and low -class business.
