I got the recommended scallops. Excellent. The calamari (which I think I've become a bit of a connoisseur lately) were mid. There was a lot of sauce on them which made them slightly goey. I can't say enough about Tarpon! First and foremost Mark!!! Mark was amazing, read the room, got our personalities and made our dinner spectacular. He is a definite asset to your restaurant and hope you recognize him accordingly. Now to the food.... The olive tapenade was so deep in flavor. Bread was fresh. We had the lobster ravioli for our appetizer, so good! I ordered the scallops they were good, maybe a second or two over cooked but still stood out as a great meal with the risotto. My husband ordered the steak, he had no complaints. Mark then brought us each a dessert drink... Carmel espresso martini, couldn't have been made any better, fantastic! Great atmosphere and service with really good food. I had the Frutti Di Mare, which is seafood cavatelli pasta. Not really sure why it was named that. See attached pic. Made with what seemed like house made pasta and plenty of shrimp, calamari, scallops, and even a little fish of the day. First and foremost this dish was HOT temperature. I appreciate having a good hot fresh meal. Now it was also spicy to a comfortable level for me, similar to a jalapeño level. Over all very good but pricy and could have had a slightly lower ratio of pasta. I suppose that should be expected for a hotel restaurant. Really that was the only reason i didn't give the food 5 stars, however the other three friends would say theirs was 5 stars, but of course I picked up the tab lol. A lot went wrong. We started with a seafood tower which took over 45 minutes to arrive at our table. Meanwhile we ate lots of bread, and our table got and heated over the delay. We were so hungry that once it arrived we placed orders for other things immediately in reaction to the delay and the hunger. Orders for other starters or entrees were not asked for earlier...and that was a mistake. The seafood tower had cooked cold muscles... never seen that in a tower, clams, oysters, crab legs and 5 different ceviches. Truth be told the ceviches were exotically prepared (3 of the 5) with alcohol... and we had parties that couldn't have alcohol. I barely had the crab legs but it was commented that they didn't feel fresh. So here we are 3 of 5 people not being able to eat and hungry and grumpy, and everything else ordered comes within 5 minutes of ordering...(soups and salads)...but the tower mainly uneaten. My hot plate was now the only thing missing and everyone else was done and changed their minds and didn't order entrees after the tower fiasco. When I realized this , I got up and went to cancel my hot entree which was almost ready. The meal had been a disaster. The waitress was amazingly professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. Kudos to her because our table did not have a single positive vibe but she hung in there through it all. In hind sight , they should have taken our orders earlier and explained the delays with the tower and maybe bring the starters before. But the long wait made the table explode. In the end the check was kindly adjusted without asking, to charge only the seafood tower and all beverages and starters were not charged. I thought the place was nice. read more

At the Hyatt for a conference and we came here for dinner. Nice ambiance, very farmhouse/waterfront porch vibe. Our server was phenomenal. The bread was amazing - we got two baskets, and comes with a wonderful olive tapenade and butter. My colleagues got the catch of the day for the second night in a row, so I know kit was delicious. We wanted to have a special dinner with friends who were heading back north and decided to meet them at Tarpon Bay. What a great choice! The service and food were both excellent. Even though seafood is the specialty, I ordered the pork chop and was not disappointed. It was tender and served with some deliciously prepared gnocchi and Brussels sprouts. I would definitely recommend the dish. My wife and one of our friends ordered the Asian tuna. They both raved about it. His wife ordered the scallops and they were cooked to perfection. This place is amazing! I've been here twice and both times have been great. This time I was with my coworkers and we all had a great experience. For appetizers, we got the ceviche: scallops, shrimp, and tuna. It was very flavorful. It comes with plantain chips which is a nice touch. We also got the berry burrata which was delicious. The tables have a beautiful set up. The server was also great. She was very knowledgeable and everything she suggested was delicious. Now the food was fantastic. We got the Chilean Sea-bass with this citrus lemon butter sauce. I felt like I could drink it. The sea bass was seared and it was cooked perfectly. It did not have the "fishy" flavor and it was lighter than expected. With it being seared, it has a perfect crisp on the outside. It sat over rice and asparagus. The flavor was exceptional in the dish. We also had the calamari which was probably the best calamari I have ever had. It had arugula and a hint of citrus. You cannot trust a reservation made through OpenTable. Weeks in advance, I made a dinner reservation for a special family dinner in the Captains Room on December 30th. I committed to spend at least $708.40 for the seven of us. On December 29th, I received the normal notice from OpenTable asking me to confirm our reservation, which I did. OpenTable replied that the reservation was all set. We all got dressed up and arrived on time only to find out that the Captains Room had been given to another party. The manager, Jonathan, refused to honor our reservation and said it was out of his hands. He ruined my night and embarrassed me in front of my family. I will never return here to this restaurant which has no regard for basic customer service. read more

Service by Candice was wonderful. I loved our busser Jean. He brought us warm bread and when we thanked him he said " we deserved it". Such a lovely man. I know this is a resort so service is over the top but you really feel valued as as a customer. This is fancy dining family style. Lots of kids so if you want intimate this is not it. I enjoyed the casual ambiance because that's more my speed .I thought the fish was fresh and the sauce was delicious and the staff genuinely cared about my dining experience. And you can't ask for more than that. I appreciate the hard work and great service I witnessed last night in making sure each patron had a great dining experience. I would add they did have a special for 55.00 per person that had an appetizer, entree , wine and dessert and last night only choice was filet. We ate at 6 on a Friday so not sure if it would be more couples later on in the evening but it seemed to be mainly people staying at the resort as they asked for a room number when we paid and seemed surprised we were just dining there. We just like checking out places we have not been and we dine out often. Definitely something nice to check out for a nice staycation as the resort and restaurants are really lovely. Especially Nicole-- she was just the sweetest and most caring server ever. My mom absolutely loved her attentiveness and quality of service and she kept asking to come back to eat here just for her! The Complimentary bread basket could have been better. The Tarpon Bay salad was too sweet and too many different flavors. The Burrata w/fruit and berries appetizer was very good. Enjoyed only that. The four of us were disappointed with our entrees. The Lemon Parmesan Salmon had not a lemon taste or a lemon anywhere on the plate. And waay too fishy tasting. Had only half. The bacon wrapped grouper was the better of the two entrees but dry not moist and half the bacon uncooked. Too much with the cream sauce. My two friends also not enthusiastic either. The brie and jam appetizer they was good. Not crazy about the 12 oz. Kurobuta pork chop entree or the Artichoke & Ricotta ravioli entree. The coffees weren't temperature hot but good tasting. I guess hotel food. Would like to stay there for two nights, but definitely have meals outside the hotel as we do live in Naples and great restaurants are within a few miles from the hotel in either direction. For $132 (excluding tip) I expected better. I read reviews on different outlets and cannot believe them anymore. The service and ambience were very nice, no complaints there. We had the best experience at this restaurant! All the food was so incredible. I love the style and decor, very beachy! I wish we had asked to sit outside but I didn't think about it at the time. We started with the shrimp cocktail which had large delicious shrimp. I got the scallops over black mango rice (this was my favorite dish of my entire trip!) it was soooo good! The scallops were huge and perfectly cooked! My husband had the snapper which was also excellent. My oldest got the shrimp off the kids menu and I love that they offer something other than mac n cheese and pizza. It's nice to have a healthier option! The shrimp were giant!! Been going for years. Juan John musician is great. Food seriously took a down hill. Calamari's was soggy. Shrimp and chorizo was wet and limp. Short rib ravioli tasted dry and bland. Drinks and bartenders were horrendous. Wait 30 minutes to get a drink while SITTING AT THE BAR. Asked for a Tito's and a lime and got a lime drink. Asked to correct it and got the same thing. I'm not a picky person but this was really bad service. People next to me said the same thing. Bring back Drew! read more

As far as hotel restaurants go, this was great! We saw some bad reviews but decided to give it a try anyway way. If you take a closer look they mostly complain about ridiculous things. The food and service were both fantastic. I would def recommend and go back. Little pricey but not too bad. We had the ceviche sampler, rock shrimp, and ban mi smoked cheeks. Everything was super flavorful. My fav was the grouper smoked cheeks. Delicious! My only suggestion would be to put a warning on them bc they were pretty spicy. If I had to be honest I'd say this is one of the best places ever! The waiter was the best and so kind and funny. Treated us like real customers. The special room we were in was absolutely beautiful. You can see the sunset from the windows and the inside is so nice! The food was delicious and I had crispy Brussel sprouts, lobster Mac and cheese and a quarter of king crab and an 18oz steak with some sides. We also saw an alligator in the little section of water outside! Sunday brunch is what I have been hearing about so I stopped in to try it out. They have a buffet with a lot of seafood choices. Pretty much everything on the buffet line was some form of seafood. In addition to that you get your choice of an entrée and bottomless mimosas and champagne. Crab claws were the star of the buffet. Pre cracked and ready to suck out the meat, they were great. They also had mussels, oysters, smoked fish, ceviche, and a few other choices. I just stuck with the claws. If you don't like seafood this is not a good buffet for you. I got a crawfish benedict for my entrée. This was good but not amazing. It was missing that flavor that pops to make it top notch. I just kept drinking the champagne and went back for more claws. Next up dessert. They had a small dessert table. These were all good but nothing amazing. I tried pretty much everything. The macaroons were my favorite. Very light and good flavor. This was a splurge gone wrong. The first hint of what was to come was the olive tapenade which was served with the bread. It's complimentary but something so simple missed the mark. The lobster bisque was a big disappointment. I've been lucky enough to have enjoyed some excellent lobster bisque over the years and this was one at the bottom of the list. The bowl was presented at the table with a chunk of lobster and the creamy soup was poured over it. If it hadn't been for the piece of lobster I would never have guessed it was a lobster bisque just from the taste! I thought all was not lost since the bacon wrapped grouper was coming next. Boy was I wrong. It looked nice but there were so many things wrong with this entree starting with a lack of basic seasoning on the fish itself. I enjoy cream sauces but not when they overwhelm something like fish. I really struggled to try to eat this bland fish. I added salt and pepper but there was no way to improve it. I gave up and decided it wasn't worth the risk to try a dessert. I'm thankful that it was just me and not a couple out for a romantic dinner or a special celebration. It was relaxing, upscale, and perfect for any special occasion. Service: (5/5) We were served by Peggy who absolutely crushed it! Her pacing was perfect and she was one step ahead all night. Additionally, she was very kind and warm, which added to the experience. Apps: (5/5) We got a dozen and a half oysters (west coast) and they were amazing. The were the biggest oysters I've ever had and they were fresh. Cocktails: (3/5) I got a Gin and Tonic and a Captain Cocktail. Both of them were good, but they tasted a bit watered down. Entree: (5/5) I got the Alaskan King Crab and the 14oz. New York Strip. The steak was cooked to perfection and in the top 3 best steaks I've had (and I eat a lot of streak). It came with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both were good. The crab was good, but it was a smaller portion than I expected.
