Got a country loaf to go from LA to Tucson. The bread was fantastic. Highly recommend if you want some true sourdough.

The food is seriously so amazing. I had the Soft Scramble. Maybe the best eggs ever. Hubby had the tuna sandwich. Amazing too!

Their morning bun is an irresistible delight you simply can't miss. The chocolate croissant is yummy too.

Was really impressed by both dishes I got! The ham and gruyère sandwich was definitely the highlight. The flavour had so much depth and the bread was to die for. The hype for Tartine is real. My only slightly negative takeaways were the higher price point and the ambiance lacking slightly compared to cheaper alternatives in the area.

Seasonal Hand Pie for Feb 2024 is Lemon

TARTINE is a famous bakery that doesn't need my review to get people in their doors. I do want to write a review for a couple of things: - Seasonal Hand Pie is Lemon and it is delicious. - There was no line to order although it was a busy Saturday morning/lunch. - There is plenty of chairs and tables inside and outside so you can enjoy your order in peace and at your leisure. - If there was a line to order, the staff/cashier is so efficient, the line would be no more in no time.

If you follow me, you know I am on a mission to find the best bakery for a range of pastries in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. I may have found one. On a popular stretch of Sunset Blvd in Silverlake, Tartine is where you can expect the unexpected. That is, you can eat in, take out, and find the largest inventory and range of baked goods that I have seen in the years since I began this floury quest. I was able, best of all, to get both sweet and savory scones (pronounced, "skons"), big ones. They are scarcer than scarecrows' teeth in LA. Even the ones that list "scone" in their name. The websites are poor, the listing confusing, and if they show scones at all, it will be one kind, plain and always sweet. America is addicted to sugar, so that is no surprise. Luckily for me, Tartine is not constrained by pedestrian tastes. This was takeout this time, for an event. Next time we will be going there for a late lunch (check out the great hours). Oh, and it is clean, pretty, and friendly. To say nothing of efficient. I ordered online late one afternoon and my two beautifully prepared boxes were ready and bagged early the following morning. How great is that!?! Check out my visually loquacious photos, attached. We will be back there soon.

    Chopped salad

Visited this restaurant Feb 14 for lunch and ordered the chopped apple and walnut salad with add on grilled chicken leg , This particular salad is pretty expensive for what you get , my salad was not tasty , the salad itself was bitter n pretty moist and the chicken leg was over grilled n had lost the chicken leg taste . It was too dry and not appetizing. This salad needs an upgrade . Service was efficient and the staff very welcoming and the restaurant is warm and welcoming .

We've been wanting to visit this place for some time, and we finally went for brunch. We were lucky to find free street parking right in front of Tartine on a Sunday. We were also lucky to avoid the lines. Menu looked interesting. It also looked kind of expensive, so I already knew we were most likely not going to return no matter how good it tasted (which it did). The pastries looked yummy. The ambiance is nice whether you sit inside or outside. There are plenty of seats.

Tartine, so serene! An inviting place with very prompt service that's open to all... This cafe is a collection of meals, deals, coffees, cakes and bakes. A true LA must! And a place I must have passed more than a baker's dozen of times in the last year alone. Tartine - Silverlake is always full of people (mostly inside) with a bright wide layout of lite wood tables w/ chairs... Though the same outside energy as well. All overlooking their Sunset Blvd in Silverlake, Los Angeles, Cali patio + entrance. Traveling in from a day of fun in the area with a posse of four... I let my friend Shaun take the wheel as a Tartine aficionado. We were very full from brunch... Too much so to enjoy the offerings of soups, salads, sides, soups, bites or breads... But not too much so for desserts and a cold brew or two. I notice they carry wine and had we not been going to a happy hour within walking distance *insert all those heart eye emojis here* this wine loving enthusiast (former wine specialist) would've jumped at the chance to enjoy some pours here. Shaun told me to pick out a vegan friendly pastry as they had several. The girl up front was helpful in helping us narrow down choices. I don't typically go out for baked good or sweet things, though I enjoy them (savory is my default). Beyond glad with my scrumptious vegan raspberry tea cake. A nice b-day week treat and the caffeine fix I didn't know I needed for the road was superb! Q-Tip: Tartine has their own parking lot in back, but you can find street parking wherever you can grab it even if it's a few blocks over... TAKE IT if you know you'll be in the area for a while and not just at this warm inviting trendy cafe. Additionally to a great food and beverage menu, you can also enjoy beer here, teas, juice and a handful of breakfast items - all to your delight. Definitely will be back in to enjoy more of what they have to offer... Like their wine :D and yes, I'll be pairing it with nom noms, free WiFi and these good cafe vibes!!

    Lemon Cream Tart
    Alisa B.

You MUST order the Lemon Cream Tart. One of my favorite pastries of all time. So delicious and well balanced. If you love key lime pies or tangy desserts in general, this is the best!!! I came around 3:30 PM and they were sold out of all their croissants of course... but there seemed to be many people WFH and studying inside the cafe. Looked like a cozy spot to hangout in Silverlake.

Ask the Community - Tartine Silverlake

    Can I pay with cash?

Yup, I usually pay with cash at all of the Tartine locations in California.

Have the insects been controlled in the pastry case?

They had fans moving in there to keep bugs out last time I was there...but I've never seen insects in there myself.

Is the bread baked on the premises?

I think so. You can see the oven at back work space

We have gone a few times over the course of 3 weeks. At first we thought Stagger was having an off day with their matcha. The taste wasn't as strong and the double matcha isn't as creamy anymore. We've gone several times since then. The flavor has been off and it has disappointed us every time. I'm not too sure if the recipe changed, that's just what my partner and I have been noticing.

Parking can be a bitch as the shop is located in a small strip mall. They do offer valet, but it's kind of a nightmare. Stick to street parking and walk it over. There was a small line up extending outside the shop, but the line moved at a decent pace as the baristas cranked out matcha lattes and other drinks. The spot was pretty packed with people studying and enjoying their drinks. I have no idea how people can study in such a busy and noisy environment, but props to them for trying. Ended up getting the double matcha for myself and my friend got the strawberry matcha. We both added oat milk, which was an additional $0.75 each. The drinks came out fairly quickly and definitely lived up to the hype. The double matcha was creamy, silky, and had a good balance of bitterness and mild sweetness. The matcha cream made it stand out in a great way. Besides indoor seating, they also have a small wraparound sitting area outside the shop where you can enjoy your drinks. They also have some merch for sale including hats, totes, tshirts, and matcha peripherals. I didn't get any baked goods, but saw that they had various pastries including matcha cookies. Definitely will have to give those a try next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend if you're a matcha fiend or just want a nice after meal drink.

The pictures don't lie. It's got that clean, modern coffee shop aesthetic, but a few quirky touches keep it from feeling like every other minimalist café. There's a photo booth in the back (which I assume explains the name) and a display of sunglasses that I never quite figured out. Also, no bathroom code. Always appreciated. Neither of us usually orders einspanners, but my wife got the vanilla and I ordered the mocha, both iced with oat milk. They were excellent. Creamy and rich and the coffee underneath was tasty even before mixing in the cream. The pastries looked beautiful and artful, although I was hoping for something simple like an almond croissant. The vibe outside on the patio was great. Lots of people working on laptops, plenty of room to settle in, and it felt more like a co-working space than a typical coffee shop. It's also super dog-friendly, has ample parking in its own lot and we even found easy street parking out front. Everything about this place just worked. We'll gladly make the 25-minute drive again.

It's a very cute and cozy coffee shop and there was no line when we arrived. The menu had a huge selection of different coffee and tea drinks and also a seasonal menu. The staff were very kind and patient and swiftly prepared the Vienna Latte and Hojicha Latte we ordered. The Vienna Latte is so visually stunning, the layers of white milk, brown espresso, thick white cream, brown cocoa powder and Biscoff layered on top of each other against the dark green logo was so aesthetic. Having a sip before mixing the Vienna latter was incredible, the sweet cream followed with the nutty strong espresso flavour then getting a refreshing splash of milk made a great combo with the Biscoff. I actually liked the drink less after its all mixed because it was too creamy for my taste. (I normally like my coffee black) My hojicha latte was great, but it was also too milky for me. So I went up and asked if it would taste good dirty, with an espresso shot in it, and the barista said yes. I ordered an espresso shot and instead of charging me full price, they only charged me the add on espresso shot for the drink! ($1.50 instead of $4) It was very kind of them since it was absolutely my mistake for not ordering the right drink in the first place. The shot added much depth and flavour to the hojicha latte I was craving. Thanks for the wonderful service. I'm definitely coming back to try their other specialty drinks.
