When I bought it, I was told it was vegan. The cookie looked so good and the minute I took my first bite, I knew I was going to eat the whole thing in one sitting. It was moist, chewy, tasted fresh, and wasn't overly sweet. It wasn't overly rich either, but it was so good. I couldn't even tell it was vegan. Such a sweet little café, both literally and figuratively. Loved the indie girl-pop soundtrack, the amazing vegan cold foam, and the steady stream of locals coming through. They have a spacious covered outdoor patio, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, and gluten-free pastries too. Service is fast and friendly. I enjoyed a few hours at a little couch inside, just reading and people-watching. After hearing about Just What I Kneaded for so long, I finally stopped by to see what all the hype was about. I ordered the LA Breakfast Burrito with the house-made vegan sausage, and overall I really enjoyed it. The sausage had great flavor, the burrito was filling, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Once I added a little Tapatío, it really elevated the entire burrito. My only reason for giving four stars instead of five is that the vegan cheese wasn't fully melted, and they had sold out of the vegan egg by the time I visited. I think having that extra element would have made the burrito even stronger. The bakery has a welcoming atmosphere, and there's plenty on the menu that I'd love to come back and try. Based on this visit, I'd absolutely give them another chance because I think the experience could easily be a five-star one. read more

Had a great breakfast experience here at this location. Arrived in the early morning and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the option to sit in the patio area or at some tables curbside. Everything looked amazing, and everyone inside working was in a great mood as well. I ordered the All Day Baby sandwich with Beleaf bacon, vegan egg, and vegan cheese. This biscuit on this?! So good. It was the perfect amount of fluffiness and flavor that complemented the rest of the sandwich well. It was just the right amount of cheese-to-meat combo as well. My partner had the LA breakfast burrito, and her tortilla tasted like it was homemade, with the distinct pull and taste. Recently tried out this cute little bakery in the heart of frog town. Parking is of course a bitch and a half. You gotta have serious mettle and ice in your veins when trying to find parking in this area. But once you do find parking, walk right over and get yourself a delicious Matcha and a flaky biscuit. Greeted by a very friendly young man, who explained their specialties and his recommendations. I appreciated that. I got an unsweetened Matcha, which was delicious as well as one of the biscuits which I highly recommend. I also got the chiliquiles but I would try something else next time. It wasn't my favorite. But their baked goods are to die for. I also had their homemade pop tart, which was sweet and crumbly and perfect. There's a nice patio, with a few tables and chairs but I'm sure it can get crowded in the morning. I was there at about 1 PM and had no trouble getting a seat. Went to Just What I Kneaded over the weekend and was super excited to try the breakfast burrito since they have a gf tortilla. While the breakfast burrito was good, there was hardly anything in it. It was mostly cheese & egg with a few tater tots. There were no beans or avocado in the burrito and hardly any sauce either. For $17, that's not worth it unfortunately. The art of customer service is dead! No one here greeted me upon walking into an empty establishment with two employees working a few feet from me - behind the counter. I stood quietly and waited until someone was ready to assist me with an order. Then I went on to purchase the 1/2 dozen pastries for $36. The sign outside is what brought me in as I drove by. I love cinnamon rolls and apparently their rolls are giant! Guess what, they are! I have yet to try it but it oils promising. I ordered almost every item they had including a cinnamon twist and passion fruit donut. Also, their own cinnamon filled pop-tart. If the pastries are amazing, then I'll be back to update my review. Until then, this place is worth a try on the weekend or whenever, with a friend or solo. Cute covered patio outdoors seats a few bodies but keep your party small. I was invited to breakfast by a friend who is 'mostly' Vegan. While I am not Vegan, I enjoy plant based meals when they are prepared well. Today was not the case. We ordered the Quiche special, the Yes Chef biscuit sandwich and one of their Cinnamon Rolls. They asked if we wanted the quiche and cinnamon roll heated and we said yes. And they inquired if I wanted vegan or real egg on the biscuit. I went for the real eggs. We also grabbed coffees. We found a comfortable place to sit on their patio which was filled with locals enjoying a bite to eat. Our coffee was 'okay', not great, but it developed a bitter aftertaste as it cooled. Our food was delivered after a short wait. Upon taking the first bite of quiche, my friend immediately said "they used vegan egg in this. If I had known, I would have ordered something else. I don't care for vegan eggs". They were upset that I had been offered a choice of real or vegan egg in my biscuit but they were never told that the quiche was made with vegan egg. They also said the quiche was not well heated, lukewarm on the outside and room temp in the middle. My biscuit looked amazing!! Huge, fluffy, with cheese melting over the edges. I took a bite, and while the flavors were there, it was one of the driest biscuits I've ever eaten. I ended up eating most of the insides with a fork and knife, leaving the majority of the biscuit itself on my plate. Then there's the cinnamon roll. While it had all of the flavors I expect, it too was a bit of a letdown. The inside of the roll was room temp while the icing on the exterior was hot as lava, so much so that most of it liquified and ran all over the bottom of the plate. So eating it meant cutting pieces and dipping them into the icing that was starting to harden in the plate. While I liked the place itself, and the service was very good, I don't see myself coming back. Even my friend, who has been there in the past, said it wasn't the same as he remembered, which is too bad. We need more plant based places but they aren't going to survive if they can't get the basics down. read more

I've heard about this place for sometime. I had a craving for homemade pop tart and found out they have them, so I decided to give them a try. I like that the place is vegetarian/vegan so I like I don't have to worry about if meat items get mistakenly placed in the food. Service was quick and friendly. It's mainly outdoor seating so keep that in mind if it's a rainy day. I not only got a pop tart, but also decided to try a breakfast biscuit sandwich. Both were extremely tasty! Pop tart was not overly sweet. Although parking in the area can be a hassle, it's located near the river which is great if you want to sit outside by a table and eat. I've been wanting to try this spot for months, and ultimately... I'm not sure if I'll return. It was raining this morning, but I can tell that on a more pleasant day, the decor and setting would be super cute and pleasant solo or with a small group. The service was lukewarm, and it felt like perhaps they don't have many customers from diverse backgrounds... that's the nicest way I can put that. On to the food: the vegan bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit KICKS ASS. It is the absolute best breakfast sandwich I've had, vegan or not, in Los Angeles. The biscuit alone is something to write home about. If I return, I'm getting this every single time. The cinnamon roll was dry. Once I hit the middle, it also became bitter. I was disappointed with this. The gingerbread cake was also dry! Sigh... I had two bites and tossed it. The one bright spot of this one was the sugared cranberries on top. That was tasty. Overall, the savory FAR beat out the sweet here, the service was meh, though the ambiance was cute. Parking was a little confusing when I found this spot, but once I did it was easy to get to the building. They had a good amount of seating on a Sunday but you could tell they get crowded. I ordered the All Day Baby Biscuit Sandwich, I wanted a mimosa to go with it but they had ran out. So I settled for a soda since they had no orange juice as well. My food arrived within 15/20 mins. The biscuit sandwich was huge! Definitely worth the wait and price. The biscuit itself was soft and flaky and had great flavor. Aside from the fantastic pun and gorgeous seating options (outdoors or indoor bar), I also really enjoyed their eclipse-like restroom and skeleton hanging out in the bar. This place is full of personality! In the past I have been cautious of vegan/vegetarian restaurants since something always tastes "off" but I was blown away by the vegan cakes and vegetarian biscuit sandwich! The cakes are moist, the icing is filling, and no bites are wasted. As someone with a sweet tooth I'm very proud of these cakes. The SEC sandwich was amazing as well - biscuit was flavorfully and not dense, every ingredient tied together so well. Was looking for a vegan cake for my daughter's 's first birthday and the team at JUST WHAT I KNEADED delivered a great product. I ordered a JWIK SIGNATURE PINK CAKE which was delicious. I ordered through the website and stopped by to pick up my order. Unfortunately, there was an error with the online ordering system and the team wasn't notified of my order. The staff ultimately finished my order a few hours later and leadership agreed to deliver the cake which was generous and appreciated. What a cute spot!! Lots of nice outdoor seating, though most of it was shaded around 11 am just fyi. It's right off the lovely LA River bike path so great place to stop if you're walking or biking. All vegetarian, very vegan and gluten free friendly too. And I think they try to use local ingredients from the Farmers Market. I've only been here to grab pastries (not sit for a full meal), but everything I've had has always been excellent. The portions/size of the pastries is quite substantial. You *could* probably consider sharing a single item with someone, or just be really satisfied with it on your own :) On a weekend, it's definitely busy and you may find a small queue but the staff move through everyone's orders at a good pace. Now it's just a walk up window to order but they have a deal with the small diner next door if you'd still like to sit inside to eat. The food menu that was posted seemed the same but I couldn't find a drink list posted. Ended up on their Yelp and requested a few drinks that apparently are no longer offered. No matcha or lavender lattes offered anymore. The EARL GREY COOKIE was a good slightly crunchy cookie on the outside but soft and chewy in the middle. Super tasty!
