It required a new part and some soldering. It is now working! Again, this is not what he usually does, but he has the knowledge and skills and was willing to figure it out. When I let the businesses know, Business Machines Center was the only one that replied with kind, thoughtful words. Yelp sends inquiries to multiple places automatically, so I had notified several shops, but they were the only ones who followed up so graciously. It only takes a minute to send a message like that, but it leaves a lasting impression. I'll definitely keep them in mind as my first choice the next time I need help with my devices.

As it turned out, Andrew knew he hadn't been able to get the battery to properly configure. He told me he thought it "might be ok anyways," when I talked to him Monday after he let me figure out myself it crashed every 3 to 15 minutes from over heating while they were closed for the weekend. They agreed to order a new battery, but thereafter they could not get any battery, not even my original battery to work again. I had to purchase a new phone. FYI, after there camera lens replacement it no longer focused ("dust they couldn't do anything about," he said, when I let them know it took worse pictures then while it was cracked!). I try to support small businesses, but I'd recommend avoiding this one.

I took it to Planet Cyber to see if they could fix it. They charged me $160, got it working and told me that the problem was that I bought the wrong RAM. They took out one of the sticks and gave it back to me. I thought that was overpriced, but at least they got it working. I recently went to upgrade it and come to find out the motherboard had a bad part all along. If Planet Cyber had told me that, I could have got my motherboard replaced under warranty. They didn't figure out the root cause and were very expensive.

Every place I contacted either told me they couldn't help or wanted me to replace the entire unit. Star Service 88 was the first company willing to actually diagnose the problem instead of giving up. The technician took the time to remove my head unit, completely disassemble it, find the issue, and repair it. He explained everything along the way, was patient, and charged a very fair price for the work. It's rare to find someone willing to do component-level electronics repair these days, and that's exactly what they did. On top of fixing my radio, he also noticed my sound system wasn't tuned properly from a previous installation. He took the extra time to balance my speakers and improve the overall sound quality, fixing a problem that another shop had left behind. They solved a problem that over 15 other businesses wouldn't even attempt, and they did it professionally, honestly, and at a fair price. I finally have my music back, my system sounds better than before, and I found an electronics technician I can genuinely trust. Safe to say, I've found my go-to shop for electronics repairs. They knew their stuff, explained everything, and actually cared about helping me find the right thing instead of just making a sale. I had my 8-month-old with me, and they were super welcoming. I am writing to add my voice to the deserved accolades which have been given to Tarzana Tech. I have been in there at least three times over the years, but my latest experience this week makes me that much more appreciative that I live so close to such a fine computer shop. This time, I brought in my very old Dell desktop computer which had a failing hard drive, 3 broken fans, and was in desperate need of a cleaning and tuneup. Because I didn't want to spend the many hours it would have taken to set up a new computer, Michael suggested we simply take an image off of the failing hard drive, and copy it onto a new solid state hard drive. Long story short, my computer is now working better than it ever did, and likely has many more years of life ahead of it. The price for all this was half of what I expected to have to pay. Great service, skillful repairs, a creative approach to problem solving, and fair and reasonable pricing. That is what I got at Tarzana Tech. read more

I had such a great experience here that I felt I had to share. This place is truly awesome. I brought in my laptop after being told by Geek Squad that it wasn't salvageable and basically a lost cause. That was pretty frustrating to hear--but Mike completely turned things around. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, but he took the time to actually diagnose the issue properly instead of just writing it off. You can tell he really knows his craft and cares about helping people rather than just making a quick buck. He explained everything clearly, gave me realistic expectations, and then delivered even better results than I hoped for. Today, I finally stopped by to get help with my older model MacBook Pro, which was having battery issues. Mike, the store owner, greeted me immediately and offered his assistance. He provided a clear and honest assessment of the problem and a practical solution. The work was completed in no time, and I left as a very satisfied customer. . Before you go and spend all your hard earned lunch money at the apple store or with some sketchy person online, go check out Mike & the folks at Tarzana Tech. Let me tell you, they have the best selection of used laptops & desktops in the valley, without question. All the brands you know and love from entry level to gaming rigs. Mike was super helpful and patient, answered all my questions and had me in and out in no time. Lots of the computers have additional watranties & they do repairs in house, why take your chances with someone who can change their number and disappear when you could get a great deal and even better service right on Reseda and Ventura. Where to start, I am a coffee drinker and boom! Macbok Pro gone :( Spilled my coffee to macbook pro and called few places and all they asked was money to check my computer, even Apple store told me it would cost me $1400+ to replace the board and keyboard. I called Tarzana Tech and they offer me free diagnostic to determinate the repair options and cost, day later Mike called me and he said it is fixable and cost me $280, I authorized the repair and picked up my computer, everything works great and I like to thank you guys, hope this don't happen to anyone, but I would highly recommend this place, very professional and affordable. read more

Called ACS, explained to them my situation and they told me to come in right away to inspect the keyboard, I came about 20 minutes later and they told me that the keyboard has to be replaced and they could do the replacement today. I was quoted a very fair price compared to all the other businesses that I had called earlier, and after one hour I was called to come pick up my laptop with it's new keyboard and backlight. I have to say that it's very rare for repair shops to do the same-day repairs but I think there's something special about this place. I appreciate the service and the cooperation from ACS and I will recommend this place to anybody who needs a replacement or repair done on a computer.
