More and more local businesses are opening in Aston, which is a very good thing. Taste Budz Cafe is housed in the old Memories Grill, and recently opened for breakfast and lunch. I really wanted to like this place more, but they still have some work to do on their breakfast menu. Atmosphere - Nice new pictures and paint have been put up over the drab colors of the old Memories Grill. Taste Budz has also added a few comfortable booths, but kept some of the old furnishings from Memories Grill which really are uncomfortable for seating. Still has TV's in the restaurant, and while the Saturday morning cartoons may be geared toward the family atmosphere, for those diners without children it can be a bit much. Other than that, everything still has mostly the same look as the old restaurant used too. Waitstaff - Our waitress Mallory did a great job of coming over to greet us, and was very friendly throughout our service. The large water glasses were very much appreciated and she was prompt at getting out food out and doing a great job following up with us. Other waitstaff were engaging and friendly as well, this was one of the finer points of dining here. Food - Tsk, tsk. If you're going to be known as a breakfast place, you really have to do breakfast well, and my party felt as though the breakfast was lacking. I went with a ham and cheese omelette and some cinnamon toast. The omelette was a bit salty, and the cheese wasn't all the way melted in the omelette. I could tell they used sliced cheese instead of grated cheese because the shape was still clearly visible. The home fries were bland, no real taste or crispiness to them. When you say that with your meal that the bread was the best part, that's saying something. My other diner ordered an omelette as well which she said was very salty and agreed, no taste with the home fries as well. I also ordered a side of scrapple which was highly disappointing. Very lean and all you could taste was the fried outside, too thin to have any meatiness to it. Intangibles - The restaurant is right next door to a karate studio, which had an active class during our meal. Every time someone hit a bag or stomped on the floor, you could feel the vibration from our table. A worker said while we were there that Saturdays are the only day that they have this issue, thought I'm not really sure how they could solve for this issue, but it was pretty annoying to have happen during the meal? The prices here are fantastic, as we were both able to dine for less then $20 before tip, but I would prefer to pay more if the food quality increased from the breakfast that I had. Overall - Taste Budz Cafe has a way to go for breakfast, and I have to say, there's now some competition in Aston, so hopefully these things will get better as they grow. I'd be willing to give them a try for lunch, as they had some interesting items on the menu as well, but as far as for breakfast in the future, I might try one or two other spots before going there again. However, if you're a family looking for a low cost, kid friendly value meal, this might be a spot worth trying out. read more

You haven't lived until you chaperone your 14-year old son on a date with his 16-year old girlfriend... Awkward conversation, uncomfortable pauses, polite laughter at my dad jokes. One thing that I discovered doing this ritual is picking a new place to eat. The possible drawback that it might suck is mitigated by the excellent conversation you can make about the food, service and anything else since it's all new and you're deciding if you want to go again, with or without the teenage lovebirds. We hit Taste Budz Cafe on a Saturday night at around 7:00. The GPS couldn't find the place but after a couple of confusing phone calls (she said it was in a strip mall but it was a *different* strip mall than the one we were at - helpful note - it's not in the one with the Planet Fitness) we pulled into the parking lot. The server we had was very friendly and the server we didn't have knew us as semi-regulars at the Springfield Diner. It was nice to be remembered! We eschewed appetizers and went right for the main meals. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese as did my son and we both enjoyed the very ample portion with a sauce that was a little sweeter than I usually like but it worked, especially with the rolls which were fresh, warm and tasted like pizza crust. My son's girlfriend has the Chicken Parmesan and said she enjoyed it. The wife got the gyro platter which she describes as "very, very good." Although Yelp says they closed at 8:30, they started cleaning around us and said they closed closer to 7:45. That made me a little bummed out because I don't like being that guy who shows up late and keeps a tired staff later than they would like but I think the door said 8:30 as well which was strange. Because of this we took some rice pudding to go and it was creamy and yummy like it should be. Overall the place has a very large, dinner-like menu and the parts of it we explored had large portions. It was about as pricey as a dinner is. The service was friendly and the food came fast. Just make sure you know the hours before you go and everything will be great! read more

Went here on a Saturday evening to get a quick bite to eat. We decided to share a buffalo chicken wrap and ordered two coffees. The good thing was they split the food in two plates. The bad thing was that they don't know how to wrap wraps. One bite and the entire thing opened and the contents were all on our plate. We asked the waitress to bring us some forks at this point (she did not bring them with the plates) and she only got one for me. We had to call her again and ask for one for my husband. Will stick to this place for breakfast. Maybe wraps just is not their deal. read more

Taste Budz is an extremely welcome addition to the Aston area! My family and I have been struggling to find a decent place for breakfast or lunch in the area with options that aren't just basic eggs and toast and sandwiches. I've been here a few times now and am always extremely happy! Their omelets are the best I've ever had, and they always have new and interesting specials and soups. Yesterday I went for lunch and had a tomato braised chicken sandwich with avocado and bacon and it's was amazing! You can't get anything else like that in the area. Not a single item from my order was correct. Every single item I ordered was given to me incorrectly. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with a side of hash browns included ONLY peppers on the hash browns. Instead, I was given a scrapple egg and cheese and my hash browns had peppers AND onions on them which I never mentioned anything about onions peppers only. I also ordered an egg white omelette and was given an omelette with the whole egg including the yolk as the omelette was extremely yellow in color and you could tell the yolk was included. This order also came with hash browns that I asked to have peppers in them as well, and was once again these hash browns also included onions that were unwanted. This omelette also included a side of toast that was not even in the bag when I arrived home to check my pick up order. When I picked up my order it was dead inside with only 2 other customers, meaning there is absolutely no excuse for it being busy. This is an extreme lack of effort and careless. Oh Wow! What an awesome dinner we had here. We walked in and it was crowded but everyone was nice. We had to wait a bit for the main meal but the Awesome homemade soup and bread more than held us over. Everything came out hot and delicious. Great breakfast , large quantity and the waitress was so friendly . My fiancé said he doesn't remember the last time he couldn't finish his breakfast at a restaurant. Our only complaint is it is so hot in here . Not sure if it is because the cooking area is out in the open or maybe they had issue with their air conditioning. Ok so just a heads up this is a sit down diner, not a typical "cafe" spot to grab coffee and go. Service was much faster than I expected when I accidentally wandered in. I had hurt my neck, and wasn't great at making eye contact, and I was obviously confused. I'm sure I looked crazy, but the staff was ultra friendly. My chicken was juicy, and the iced tea was the good kind (aka unsweetened). They passed my good diner test with excellent French fries. read more

First time here was a Tuesday lunch date with the boyfriend on my lunch break. I got the chocolate chip pancakes which were pretty delicious. The chocolate chips are melted on top and there are a bunch of them. Make sure you ask for powdered sugar and whipped cream as well! This location used to be the old Memories Grill. Although there are differences and the interior has updates, I still felt as if I was in a diner rather than cutesy brunch cafe. Regardless the food was delicious, we were in and out within 35-45 minutes. Price was really good too! Definitely will return during lunch breaks in the future! read more

Breakfast was pretty good this morning. I only have a couple comments. I think the cook actually cooked the potatoes too close to the French toast because my potatoes tasted like cinnamon. Not great. The other thing was I ordered a breakfast sandwich with eggs, Turkey bacon, cheese and mushrooms. The mushrooms were put in the scrambled eggs but they weren't cooked. I'm not a fan of raw mushrooms. I typically don't write reviews however this place was perfect. I went on Saturday late morning with a couple of girlfriends I haven't seen in awhile. The service was excellent, I mean everyone was really attentive and just overall friendly. The food was really good as well I was skeptical at first because I didn't know what to expect since I'm not that familiar with the area. I had the Vegetarian Hoagie which was great and I tried the Belgian waffles which were amazing, I will be getting them next time. It was really nice too because my friend brought champagne so we could make our own Mimosas which is always a nice added perk. read more

I thought it was good. So did my husband....until we got FOOD POISONING from their food!!! How do I know it was from here, you may ask? Because the only common thing that my husband and I ate that entire week was breakfast at Taste Budz. Both of us had eggs and breakfast meats, both of us got sick. Breakfast was great, went back a week later and lunch not so good. For breakfast I got a bacon eggs cheese sandwich which was amazing. One of the best I ever had the sandwich was humongous I couldn't even finish it but I really wanted to because it was so darn good. Also had a huge portion of home fries. For lunch I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap which was not so good. The chicken fingers were drenched in a bad hot sauce. It reminded me of the hot sauce packets at a fast food joint. And the portion of chicken was small . My father got the chicken salad and said it was ok. I highly recommend this place for breakfast but I do not recommend it for lunch. read more

We've lived in the area for 3 years and only ventured here once. It was too crowded and food was average. We decided to give it another shot this weekend. We came both Saturday and Sunday!
