Just saw the article about the bear visit. POOR BEAR!!!! He/She/They had to eat cupcakes loaded with bad attitude. This bakery is cute with very limited selection. The atmosphere is so unpleasant it makes shopping uncomfortable. Owner needs an attitude adjustment. One visit was enough for me, there are better options in town.

Delicious bundle of treats. All were soo good but really loved the bar- I can't remember what it is called but almost a molasses carrot consistency but was soo good and able to have at multiple occasions because so rich. Really love the choices and options here. Recommend

My family and I love taste by spellbound. We come here often, but this was the first year we had actually pre-ordered a cake. It was absolutely delicious and obviously came out absolutely beautiful. This is also a cake that they had on their Mother's Day menu a few years back... I promise it's absolutely worth it. The cakes are also very large and can feed a lot of people so if there's only a few if you just be prepared for leftovers :-)

"She held me spellbound in the night Dancing shadows and firelight" (Witchy Woman -The Eagles) Spellbound is a very appropriate word for this bakery, because when you open their door and walk in... yes...you will be spellbound by the sights and smells of their products. Good luck showing buying restraint here! When you walk in, you'll see a big production area on the left where the cakes, mini-desserts, cookie-wiches, macarons, cupcakes, bar bakes, and cookies are created. Many of these products are behind glass in a showcase counter straight ahead, and on the right you'll see a small dining area with tables and chairs. I had intended to pick up a few desserts for New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. So for the two of us, I planned on buying... what... maybe 4 or 5 things? Well, here's where that lack of buying restraint came in. My willpower deficiency led to buying two apple crisp specials, two coffeecake bars, and five bars. At least I have the rest of the year to make up for that lack of willpower. Here is the chronological order in which we sampled our haul. Apple Crisp Cups- Excellent!! Sweet and gooey (was that a caramel glaze swirled around in there?) they were decadently outstanding. Coffee Cake Bars - Better than any coffee cake you ever had. I loved the crumb topping -harder and crunchier and thicker than what I'm used to, it was sweet and full of cinnamon flavor. I loved the contrast between the soft cake and crunchy topping. Peanut Butter Caramel Bars - Crazy delicious! Sweet gooey and lots of peanut flavor. Salted Caramel Bars - Great! Soft and chewy with a nice contrast of sweet and salty. They pack a ton of flavor. Mexican Chocolate Bars -Intense chocolate cinnamon flavor with a nice chocolate fudge glaze and a hint of cayenne. Very yummy

I surprised my sister with this beautiful cake. I ordered the cake on a Monday and it was done by Thursday. Everyone LOVED how it looked. The cake also tasted amazing. It was a chocolate cake with Oreo buttercream. I definitely recommended this dessert shop

Macarons

The place is very cute, however, you don't feel welcome at all when you walk in and the staff are not at all pleasant. Very unfortunate because the macarons were fantastic and my kids loved the cupcakes. Customer service goes along way when there are so many other options available. Arethusa a Mano also makes fantastic macarons and the staff are friendly.

Peanut butter lovers

I was surprised for my birthday with the peanut butter lovers cake. It was super yummy! Buttercream frosting, peanut butter cups...delicious! I love chocolate and peanut butter. I will definitely think of this bakery for future gatherings.

The owner is so generous and loving and you can tell that this is a genuine passion of hers. Whether you preorder, go in and sit or take away you will have a great experience. I recently learned that if you put in a pre-order and the shop closes early, you can still pick your pre-order up at the candy store ( BouNom Emporium) across the way. First off, it's definitely one of those small, tucked-away spots you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but once you walk in, the decor is so cute. Think cozy, shabby chic vibes that make it feel warm and welcoming right away. The standout for me? The dinner roll. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. It was dense, rich, and satisfying, not your typical light, airy Kaiser roll. It reminded me more of a Jamaican hard dough bread in texture and weight, which I personally loved. Super flavorful and filling. I was also really happy about their buy three, get one free promotion. It made it easy to try a few different things without feeling like I was overdoing it. As for the pastries, I tried the cinnamon roll and carrot cake. I didn't finish either, but the carrot cake definitely gave true homemade vibes. It had coconut mixed in, wasn't overly sweet, and felt more traditional than indulgent. If you like a less sugary, more classic-style carrot cake, you'll probably appreciate it. Overall, this bakery is worth a stop, especially if you're exploring the pastry trail. Not everything wowed me, but there were definitely some highlights that made it a good visit.

This one is located in Avon in the Old Avon Village plaza. There were plenty of parking when I went. The bakery is pretty spacious with some tables and seats. The display was filled with delicious looking cupcakes and other treats. They are known for their cupcakes. I got a few different ones to try with my family; the Oreo, funfetti, and brownie flavors. We were all very happy with the outcome; they were moist and up there with the best cupcakes I've had in a while. They also have gluten free, vegan, mini cupcakes, and cupcakes kits. Other treat options were the chocolate covered Oreos and cannoli chips and dip. I bought a few of those Oreos and they didn't disappoint. I can't wait to go back and try out more treats!

Their Avon location is cute and quaint and boy of boy does it smell good when you walk in! I've gone here many times to get some sweet treats for the kids and I. They NEVER disappoint. My daughter usually cons me into getting way more than we need but I'm never truly upset about it because everything is so good. I for one am not a big super sweet frosting person. I've always preferred the whipped cream frosting or cream cheese frosting but their buttercream is something that even I enjoy. They keep their peanut butter options completely separate from the other flavors and even asked if I wanted my peanut butter cupcake in a separate box for allergy purposes. They offer dietary accommodations including gluten free and vegan as well and they have a table of delicious chocolate dipped Oreos and beautiful hot cocoa bombs. There's also an ice cream counter. They even have something for the 4 legged friends!! With multiple locations they are pretty accessible to give a try

Think people are hating this place because they are comparing the food to Stop & Shop. The taste is pretty different. Sour Dough from NY, Vermont that was "baked today" but feels half frozen is $7 at Whole Foods ... so complaining about $10 for a local one is kind of wild. Yesterday I had a baguette from the West Hartford location. Ate it on the way home. It was so good. Finally tried a sandwich. I had their Turkey Sandwich today. Shit was life changing. Haven't had an experience like that since having a steak at J Gilberts for the first time. It is like wow this is what real food taste like and what our parents & grand parents would eat before everything was mass produced. Everything was local and delicious. Price wise it was $2 more than a regular sized Jersey Mikes Turkey Bacon sandwich. The coffee and the other baked goods I thought were just ok but their bread, cookies and sandwiches are incredible.

What was most disappointing was the lack of flexibility or willingness to help find a solution, especially given the circumstances. Love the atmosphere, pastries and mission of this spot: "inclusive coffee café employing people…read morewith and without intellectual and developmental disabilities and demonstrates the possibilities in all of us." Their mission is imbued in their staff, products, how they set up their space, and how you order. We came here for breakfast on a weekday and had a lovely experience. They have breakfast and lunch cafe menus (+catering), yummy pastries (cookies, muffins and scones) and various coffees and drinks. We enjoyed the omelette (if you order more than 3 ingredients there's a charge) and the village breakfast which was eggs, potatoes (slightly blackened), sourdough toast (or wheat) and bacon. Prices are fairly standard ($11-14) and portions not very large. The panetonne, toasted coconut, and chocolate chip scones ($5 each) were all good and baked well. The honey latte and hot chocolate (most drinks are $4-8) were also very creamy and delicious, though slightly too sweet for our tastes (made it taste good though!) You order at the counter and then take a table and place a marker with nice words like "love" and then your food is brought to you. The actual space is very inviting, with lots of nooks and crannies (tables with chairs, couches, a fireplace). They also sell t-shirts ($30) and sweatshirts ($40-50?) which are pretty soft material, as well as ground coffee, cards, granola, etc. The other half of their space is their homemade pasta place so it's a unique layout and looked fun as well. There were plenty of customers cycling in and out, many sitting down with a warm drink and a pastry. Parking isn't huge but was not super super small but could be an issue if they got an influx of folks hanging out. Wouldn't blame them though because it's a comfortable place with free wifi. Looking forward to returning! Shopping like Whole Foods, walmart, and Shop Rite are all within a few miles.
