What appears to be a "hole in the wall" is actually an excellent breakfast and lunch place! We stopped by on our way to Miami Convention Center which is within 5 mins walk. When Taste was on Alton Road, we ordered lunch from them at work quite frequently, but since they moved and I left that job, I had not eaten here in about 10 years. I had business at City Hall yesterday and was famished when it concluded. Taste was a perfect option as it's right next door to City Hall! They have revamped the menu and added lots of different options. For almost all of the food options, you pick how you want it (sandwich, wrap, bowl), what kind of protein (including vegan options like falafel) and if picking a bowl, what kind of base you want it to go on top of. Larry went with a Philly steak sandwich, and I had a Mediterranean breakfast bowl over cilantro brown rice. The food was ready quickly and it was steaming hot! We took it to go and it was great! The Med bowl came with spinach, feta, black olives, sundried tomatoes, egg whites and falafel with sides of hummus and a pesto / chimichurri sauce. DELICIOUS!! I had half for lunch and the other half for dinner! I found the pricing to be high... the two items together with tax and a 15% tip was nearly $50. If you're looking for a brunch spot near Miami City Center, this is the place to go. They serve soups, salads, wraps, bowls, sandwiches, and smoothies, with many options on their menu. For the entrees, you can choose your base--salad, wrap, bowl, or sandwich. Then, select a style for toppings and the protein. You also have the option to make it a meal. We picked a couple of bowls, the Greek and the Philly, and our choice of sandwich was the Farmhouse. The Greek bowl comes with spinach, cucumbers, black olives, sun-dried tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, green peppers, hummus, and feta dressing. The Philly bowl includes mushrooms, fajita veggies, jalapeños, mayo, American cheese, Swiss cheese, and ranch dressing. We opted for cilantro brown rice as the base for our bowls. We loved the bowls, opting for the large size, which provided adequate quantity and value for money. The peanut butter was difficult to distribute since the bowl was cold so I wished they drizzled it instead of putting a glob in the middle. The cold brew was super strong! I used to love this place and would often eat here. I've been dozens of times and would recommend it to friends visiting from out of town. However the past few times I've noticed they are going way down in quality. Taking shortcuts that compromise the taste of Taste Bakery. For example Instead of using the Panini press they're just microwaving everything now... this is bad for bread and not good practice for a bakery cafe. I ordered a sandwich today and it was obviously microwaved instead of pressed, which made the bread hard and stale tasting. I was going to complain but someone was already inside complaining about their food and I didn't want to waste any more time. I'm only giving this 3 stars because the muffins are still good. Horrible staff! I went with an elderly friend to the location near Miami Beach City Hall this past Wednesday for the first time. My elderly friend went to the service counter to inquire about her food because it didn't look like what she had ordered. A nasty, rude cook came from the back and YELLED AT HER AND CURSED AT HER!! She was a paying customer, a woman and a senior citizen!! He had absolutely no right to yell and to curse at her. Taste Cafe is a little hidden gem off of convention center drive and 17th street on miami beach. City employees enjoy an employee discount (upto 50% off). Cafe has vegetarian and vegan options are a plus. The avocado club wrap is one of my favorite. You can order it on baguette, variety of bread options or wrap. Yum! There is breakfast and lunch options and if you need an afternoon pick me up they have a nice variety of lattes and brews. If you plan on having lunch here during the week try and beat the lunch crowd between 12 to 1 pm. Since the cafe neighbors city hall its a popular spot for visitors and employees.
