Swung by here the other night (a Tuesday) at 9:30p to grab dinner after seeing a comedy show at The Creek and The Cave nearby. The owner was the supa kind, warm gentleman in the food truck working who personally helped me. He was very patient with me, as i was indecisive about what to order since i was starving & literally everything sounded increíble. (i don't remember his name, but i will get it my next visit and update this review!) He suggested the chicken tikka masala, and i couldn't have been happier! it was scrumdiddly-umptious! hot and fresh. fulfilling and satisfying. quality, authentic indian food on-the-go, pronto, folks. i had leftovers as i get full fast, and the leftovers heated up fine & still tasted yummy - and i hardly ever say that about leftovers! if i were to give one critique/area for improvement: i personally feel the chicken to rice ratio was a little off, and would have liked ~2-3 more pieces of chicken. After hitting up some bars and wanting some drunk food. There really weren't too many options; going midweek and during COVID certainly meant a lot less activity so Taste was basically the only option during my visit. I got the kabab roll with all the sauces. You know what? It wasn't bad, especially for post-bar food it hit all the targets: greasy, flavorful, handheld and slightly messy. I was warned that the spicy sauce would be much but it was fine. I don't know what the other options at the food truck park was but Taste from India seems as a good a stop as any other options there. read more

It wasn't awful, we ate it in the car and it was pretty wet which I liked, but it was lacking Spice, and the flavour was much too mild and the chicken too dry for me to really enjoy it. It cost a little much too, and showed again that Austin's late night food truck scene is not as good as it's daytime food trucks. Ordered some Dal Rice, veg samosas and Chicken biryani last night. The Dal and rice was awesome and absolutely loved it. Giving these three stars for that item only. Rest of the two items are big zeros. Samosas need not be that big if they dont have a filling in it. It is just like eating fried flour. Chicken biryani was aweful. Suggestion: Samosas need to be worked on. Reduce the size and put good amount of filling in it. Provide some mint chutney or sweet tamarind chutney on the side. read more

My friends and I wandered here after an agonizing night of karaoke. I only call it agonizing because I was taught how to properly "twerk" which is something I never thought I'd know how to do and is EXHAUSTING. Thanks a lot, Kat. We were searching for some food truck, but unfortunately many of them were already closed. The people working the truck were a little cold. They weren't rude exactly, it just seemed like they didn't care at all. I was one of the first to order and I was the last to receive my order. The food was fine enough and reasonably priced. I've had better kababs in town with much better service. My kabab was really messy (they can be anywhere, but this one was a little difficult in that respect). That said, it was still pretty good. I'd say you're okay to skip it and head to another place, but if you're nearby and in the same situation of late night "oh, no! everyone is closed!" it's a more satisfying option than the 24 hour fast food places. read more

Best Indian food truck that I've ever had... Chicken tikka masala: (5/5) very flavorful and filling. For the price, you definitely get a bang for your buck. My friend and I were stuff with sharing one. This probably wasn't your typical chicken tikka since that is more dry but I feel as though this was definitely better. Make sure you ask for it spicy!!! I am sad I missed the biriyani I would have to wait another 15 minutes in subzero temperatures. Instead, ordered the chicken curry plate. It was totally worth it. Cheap and the quantity was good too. It's a food truck, it's our doors, right off 6th about a block, and it's convenient. That's what you get. Now the food was actually pretty good I ordered the Spicy #4, it's a little on the expensive side, about the same price as 2 slices of pizza... The #4 was good, no cheese but a lot of flavor, I would like a little less oil but that's my preference. It sat well on the plate though, a bed of white rice, some onions, tomatoes, lettuce and some lentil curry. It's ideal for the space. read more

Excellent, excellent food. Very fresh, extremely flavorful and addicting! I was introduced to this cart by my husband and we have made it a regular stop at least once a week. Lovely owner and just super super fresh, tasty food. For those who are comparing it to other Indian they've had, they need to understand that all Indian curry is not made the exact same. Went here on Saturday (9/30) night after seeing The War on Drugs at Stubbs to get some grub after a LONG day of wandering around downtown. I got the Seekh Kabab Roll that was full of meat and filling. The pita was not bad for a food truck and it filled me up. Also had the Chicken Samosa that had good flavor. There was too much dressing in the salad part, but it wasn't bad. If you are in the area late at night, check this place out. We got the joy of a seat to listen to Karaoke while we ate. I really love this place. All the food I have tried is excellent, and I've tried pretty much all of it. As a food truck goes, the prices are very reasonable. The only reason I gave hen 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the 8 or 9 times I've been here, they are always "out" of the chicken Biryani, and I really really want to try it. I don't know if is just so awesome everyone buys it first, or if they just aren't making it. Aside from that though, the place is great, and they started staying open until 3:30 to take care of all of us service industry folks who don't walk out of work until 3 AM. I had the chicken 65 roll, and thought it was extremely tasty! The curry spices were very well-balanced, and the cool creamy green chutney yogurt sauce really smoothed it out perfectly. Everything was appropriately hot, but not mouth scorching. While 8 bucks was a little pricey, it's to be expected with a late-night food truck. DISGUSTING!! I don't usually write reviews and only like to write one if I'm really impressed with the place. However, this was so bad I feel the need to warn others. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and it was NOT chicken tikka masala. That is one of my favorite Indian dishes and I order it just about every time I go to an Indian place. Tikka masala is chicken in a yummy yogurt cream sauce. This dish was so dry! No sauce or flavor and the chicken had the consistency of canned tuna only drier. The naan bread was also very dry and tasted stale with no seasoning, garlic, or cilantro but did taste like it was dipped in flour before serving. I do not recommend this place. There are much better Indian food trucks just a short distance away and worth the walk. Don't waste your money here. read more

Taste from India certainly offers the more traditional flavors and items than you might find around town, i.e. Clay Pit and Tarka. Unfortunately, with the simplicity comes a heavier dosing of what I would not prefer in my Indian food: oil. Yes, Indian food--in America, at least--utilizes a lot of pressed seeds, but the amount here seemed a little excessive. Maybe it was what I ordered. A buddy and I split the saag paneer--cheese and Indian creamed spinach, as I look to call it. With a lower temperature than I would have liked, the dish fell a little flat. As well, the naan bread yielded soggy texture. With both items erring on the lukewarm end I think the man in charge would do well to heat his food up a little better. I understand that many food trucks use microwaves, but not evening out the heat creates a presumption of lack of freshness. On the whole, not bad offerings for Indian food out of a mobile eatery. But, knowing that Indian food tastes best fresh, I wouldn't send you here for to-die-for South Asian fare. read more
