I loved the kung pao chicken; hadn't had it in years due to gluten but was excited to find they make a gf version here, and it's really good, like the regular. The gf fried rice is great too and family reports the soup and regular fried rice is great too and also love the chicken dishes. I've been reading about this place on the gluten-free FB groups for a while now, so wanted to go check them out. The owner was so attentive, and very welcoming! And the food was delicious. I am GF, not celiac but very sensitive. I ordered the orange chicken and it was delicious, chicken was crunchy, and the sauce was perfect, not too sweet. 10 stars! Husband ordered the beef and broccoli, I think maybe it was a combo that came with a wonton or egg roll, but he loved it and he's not GF..., So I don't believe there was any special prep involved in his meal. We both really enjoyed our meals. Would definitely go back. I wish they could figure out a way to do GF crab puffs / wontons, egg rolls or spring rolls, but the owner spent some time talking to us about the difficulties of doing those GF so we understand. Would love to see some sort of noodle lo or chow mein that was GF.... As far as the ambience, it's not fancy, it's your typical mom and pop Chinese restaurant decor, the place was clean, service was excellent, and food was great. Highly recommend. read more

Taste of China has excellent food - period. It's a quiet comfortable restaurant offering traditional Chinese/American dishes with a twist. Some of their dishes are by default gluten free, while others can be ordered specifically without gluten - and that part is wonderful !!!! My spouse is GF and has a huge selection to choose from :-). And ..... I would challenge a gluten addict to see if they can tell the difference between them. Taste of China does it all very very well !!! Really disappointed in our experience tonight. We ordered takeout, like we do very often, and when my husband brought it home we discovered one of the entrees was missing. Normally no big deal, mistakes happen. However, when we called the restaurant to let them know we paid for a meal we didn't receive, they told us we could come back to get it. Now we go out of our way to order from here for the gluten free options so driving 20 min there and 20 min back again when it was their mistake is frustrating. When I asked if they could just refund the missing order, they said no we would have to come get it. Terrible customer service and sadly our last time ordering from here. read more

Growing up on the East coast, this is the most comparable Chinese food in the area! The general Tsos is crispy and full of flavor. Service is quick and staff is knowledgeable and polite. My husband orders regular and I opt for Gluten Free. This Chinese food does not make you feel unwell or sluggish afterward. We tried the Mongolian beef this time as well as the rice noodles. Mongolian beef had a nice spice and the noodles were fresh. I would ask for a sauce on the side next time with the noodles as they come a little more plain. Taste of China is the only restaurant I have found that makes GF Chinese food in the east valley. They have a huge selection of GF items including the "usual" items like orange chicken and general tso's. Then, you can get GF fried rice and now GF noodles. The kitchen takes this soooo seriously too. Now that I've said this, the food is Delicious! Service is warm and inviting. And the portions will feed you between 4 to 6 portions. This place checks all of the boxes. GREAT food, friendly service, good pricing, and great gluten free options. I ordered the Moo Shu Beef (large) and cup of the hot and sour soup. Both were incredible. I am able to get at least two, maybe three meals out of my dinner. My GF wife ordered the beef and broccoli and egg drop soup and really liked it. Threatened to have the cops called on us by owner! Couple months back we ordered Pork Potstickers, they were way undercooked. Not a big deal. We called simply to let them know and they apologized and gave us a credit for another meal at our next visit. The night before last we were in the area and remembered the credit, we called and asked if they would still honor it, they didn't want to look that far back so they honored it on faith. The following day got a call from the restaurant... The food was delicious! As someone who is gluten free finding yummy food is always difficult. I am so happy we tried Taste of China. There was only one man waiting on people and he did a very good job, they are very gluten free conscious! We ordered the general tso's chicken and broccoli beef with steamed rice and fried rice. My favorite is the egg drop soup. They add shrimp and pork, which adds so much flavor! They also have an extensive amount of Gluten Free choices. The staff is VERY well versed on Gluten Free. What a pleasant surprise to see a Chinese restaurant offering gluten free options! Went in to try out Taste Of China's food so I could taste some things for our gluten free friends before bringing them in or telling them about it. Got some lunch specials to sample several dishes that were gluten free and one that was a regular dish. I think I'd have to try their dishes side by side to tell off there's any difference between their gluten free and non gluten free dishes. It was nice to know that they were very conscious of making sure any items that had gluten didn't get packed with the gluten free items. They even made sure to mention that the fried rice, egg roll and fried wonton has gluten so they offered to put it on the side and or offered regular white rice instead. There is a small upcharge for the gluten free entrees but their lunch special items were still very reasonably priced and the portions were very generous so there were no complaints. We ordered gluten free cashew chicken (this has a lot of onions and bell peppers), gluten free broccoli beef and medium spicy Korean chicken (has a lot of onions). I think the consensus was cashew chicken for the win. The egg roll was quite large and pulled with a lot of goodies. They even provided lots of sweet sour sauce, mustard and soy sauce plus the usual fortune cookies. Everything was ordered to go and the leftovers heated up quite nicely for dinner later. The restaurant was nice and quiet but it was an odd time for lunch pickup so it was also empty. The booths were clean and the staff were friendly and greeted me immediately on entry. Will be back to try some other dishes then planning to bring our gluten free friends in as we're fairly certain they haven't been able to eat Chinese food in forever! We hope they like it. read more

I was SO DISAPPOINTED with my order last night! I ordered Vegetables with Rice noodles... apparently they make the assumption that I'm gluten intolerant because I ordered rice noodles, when in fact, I just like rice noodles better. One of my go to is Chow Fun and they don't have that on the menu. I guess my first clue that they thought I was gluten intolerance because they didn't give me the crispy wontons they usually give, and she said oh we thought you were gluten-free and I said no I would really like the crispy wonton so they got that plus some soy sauce Because again they thought I was gluten-free. When I got home, the rice noodles with vegetables was dry. There was absolutely no sauce on it. Nothing! It was horrible! My guess is because they thought I was gluten-free, maybe all their sauces have soy sauce and they don't have gluten-free soy sauce?! If you're gluten-free, apparently this is the place to go, I've seen lots of comments about how they cater to gluten-free. But they can't assume someone is gluten-free just because they order rice noodles. I'll be throwing out the rest of the order because I couldn't eat it . Just very, very disappointing. I'm also very confused why I got rice with the order , usually noodle dishes don't come with rice on the side. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TRY THIS ONE. i am astonished at how amazing the food is here. pretty sure this is a mom pop shop and the owners were both working hard when we went. it is not very big inside, but there is the option to dine-in here. we did do a pickup order when we went and it was fantastic. we came here because my parents had told me it was the best chinese food they've had here in arizona - they were kidding. we ordered the orange chicken (YUM), sweet and sour chicken and the spring rolls. the orange chicken was awesome and literally melts in your mouth. the sweet and sour was good, but the sauce does come on the side as it's a thinner sauce. and finally, my boyfriend said the spring rolls were pretty good. also the two entrees come with white rice (FREE) which was really perfect on the side. the portions for a small were so big and definitely fed 2 people. we are already planning out next visit to this place. highly, highly recommend! this place is so phenomenal!! thank you! read more
