I have been to Thailand over 25 times in my working career and actually lived there for six months so I regard myself as a sort of authority on authentic Thai cuisine. I was in the neighborhood and did a quick search for Thai restaurants nearby and this came up on Apple Maps. It looked pretty good so I stopped in for a lunch and enjoyed a larb gai salad followed by Pad Kee Mow. I ordered both dishes hot, 4 on a scale of 1-5. OMG! I have a high tolerance for heat and initially was going to ask for.#5. Glad I didn't , so beware! They are not fooling around with heat. Food was really really good! I got the tofu spicy noodles and my husband got the shrimp pad thai. We ordered spice level 3/5 and.... mine was spicy!! I have a good tolerance for spice but the chili flakes must've fallen out onto my plate lol personally it had too much bean sprouts for my taste. the noodles had a really good smoky flavor though so that elevated the whole meal. i would definitely eat here again pricey for the portions but quality food. the restaurant itself is cute and aesthetic. the staff were super friendly and treated us well even though we did stay right up to closing, we were never rushed. they were cleaning the place with a real mop and cleaning solution so that made me feel good about cleanliness too haha read more

I ordered the Pad Thai and the picture on the menu should have told me to not to order this dish. There was a vinegar taste that was most predominate along with an unknown seasoning that left a grainy texture in my mouth. Luckily the very generous portion of Thai iced tea allowed me to get the taste out of my mouth. Despite being a Friday night, the establishment was not packed. However they seem to do a fairly robust of take out service This is a brightly lit establishment and very clean, they would do well to really work on what probably is their most popular dish and really use the wonderful spices Thailand is known for. read more

This was our first time dining in. A few weeks ago I'd ordered online but didn't do a review. But it's fine since the 2 things I'd ordered that time we actually ordered again. First, the Bacon Fried Rice! When I ordered online I replaced the carrots with bean sprouts and loved it. I left a little for my husband to try and that is why we had to go back. But here's my one issue - this time, I also requested swapping out the carrots and she wrote it down, but the kitchen didn't make the change. I ate around the carrots, and did mention in but was basically told that sometimes the kitchen just doesn't pay attention to the substitutions. We also ordered crab puffs. We've struggled to find good ones here in Phoenix. (They're crab rangoons on the East Coast.). These are decent, but maybe a little too sweet. A lot of places here don't have any sweet at all, which I really don't enjoy. I also ordered the Drunken Mussels (delish!) and husband got the orange chicken which he really enjoyed. We had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day too! The decor inside is beautiful and service was very friendly and attentive. They do close for an hour between lunch and dinner service, but their hours are clearly noted. They're right around the corner from our house and I suspect we'll be ordering again soon even if it's just for more bacon fried rice! read more

I ordered my food to go not too long after they opened. Received a confirmation text saying it would be ready in 30 minutes. Luckily for me , it was ready in 15 minutes. I picked it up and it brought it home. I ordered spice level hot , one below Thai hot. Man was it spicy. That's my normal spice level. It was really good. A teeny bit spicier than I remember it but just as tasty. The yellow curry was delicious. I didn't get pics of the inside because I was in a hurry but it is also very cute and quaint. Went there with hubby on Thursday night to see how similar it was to Krua Thai and it did not disappoint. The service was quick even though only one girl was greeting and seating people, taking orders, and cleaning up. We ordered our usual which is yellow curry and pad see ew. Recently, I called to place a pick-up order after searching for a particular dish I'd been craving. Taste of Thai offers a casual dining atmosphere that feels warm and inviting whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout. I ordered the Pot Stickers and Pad See Ew with chicken--both dishes exceeded my expectations. The Pot Stickers were flavorful, while the Pad See Ew featured sautéed flat rice noodles with just the right amount of medium heat. Every bite was delicious, and the portion sizes were generous. Pretty brand new place and on Bell road so it was a last minute find. Being a huge Thai food fan, I decided to give it a try but not so happy with the quantity they offer for what I paid ($17) just for a Druken Noodles dish (picture attached). I don't normally judge based on one experience and may visit here again but still wanted to post my experience. The restaurant ambience is too good though, and the staff is also eager to help customers with their needs. Some times it's hit or miss with certain restaurants but this place hit us in all the right places when it comes to taste and flavor from appetizers to entrees to drinks and desserts it was top notch! Went here last night and was not disappointed! The food is great and the service was too! Our waitress was really nice and the tea was good too! The service at this small, family owned restaurant is phenomenal. The manager/waitress could be in a five star establishment. Food was served quickly and was fantastic. I love Thai food. It's my favorite food when we do go out. I have very high expectations when it comes to Thai food. My wife and I went to Taste of Thai for the first time when it was raining (which I'm convinced makes Thai food taste even better...I digress). This was without a doubt, the best Thai Green Curry with Pork I have ever tasted. It was so delicious that every bite felt like it was still fresh from the kitchen, it was that good!!! The Pad Thai was knock your socks off delicious!! The service was very prompt but not overbearing, and was willing to help us decide what we wanted. The interior of the restaurant is very reserved and simplistic, but still has enough character to not be creepy. The food did not hold back!!! Our first visit to this newly opened location was during its soft opening. Although they were using menus from another location, we still managed to order and found the food tasty. Portions were ample, but prices seemed a little high for lunch. I did not notice any lunch specials. Our server was efficient and attentive, but not intrusive. The decor seems the same as the previous Thai restaurant. Our second try was a takeout order, again pretty standard with nothing outstanding. They also have an exceptional presentation with each of their dishes making the food look like it was purposefully put on the plate instead of just being slapped on there. Peanut allergy wasn't recognized! We have mentioned to the server twice while ordering that we have a company that has peanut allergy!---which she agreed she understood. We even mentioned that if it's alright to put the peanut on the side. She was very dismissive the entire service. When 1 of our meal came the food had peanut toppings everywhere! we let that one go and emphasized that pls put the peanut on the side. Since the portions were small for the prize we ordered more dishes . AGAIN when it came out peanuts was still on the dish! Annoyed by this time we didn't bother asking for it to be remade. We would rate it more stars if that was possible. We search often for Thai food in our area but our previous experience has been disappointing. We were delighted to see a new name on a previously disappointing Thai restaurant in our neighborhood. We immediately looked for the menu and knew we needed to try Taste of Thai. We were greeted as we opened the door by the lovely Tan who directed us to a table and provided the leather covered extensive menu, with pictures . WOW! Heavenly and it only got better when our choices, Spicy Noodles and Pad Thai, were placed on our table. Generous portions burst off the plate with bamboo shoots, cucumber, scallions and minced nuts. I would have sent my comments to the restaurant directly, but I can't find a way to send them an email or DM. My opinion is slipping. I've eaten at Taste of Thai Bell Rd. 3x, but may be done. Service is good enough, food is delicious, decor is attractive, a bit better than your typically Phoenix strip mall restaurant. However, signs of stinginess are creeping in. Portions got small and smaller over my 3 visits. I am not a big eater, but I feel these portions were too small. At one visit I encountered the same shrimp-shorting issue another reviewer mentioned. Shrimp are not that expensive, people. Beef prices per lb are nearly 3X shrimp prices these days, but the upcharge for shrimp is twice that of beef. Make it make sense. Most entrees are nearly $20, and you start to pay attention whether you're getting your money's worth. For 2 people - a shared app, soft drinks, and their least expensive entrees, tax & tip, will cost just under $65. This is a $$$ restaurant, not a $$ one. Tonight I was going to order some food for take out, but they're charging a convenience fee for some reason. I decided some time ago that I'm not playing that game, and not doing business with places that charge unnecessary fees. read more

We've been here 3 times now and we like the food more than any of the other Thai food in the area. The only thing I'd change is the portions. We really like the Kao Soi, which comes with a very generous portion of steak, but is lacking in noodles. I've been to Taste of Thai six times with friends and will continue to return. The service is excellent. The meals are well prepared seasoned to specific taste with an appealing presentation. The curries are delicious and the bacon fried rice was superb. The appetizers along with the various sauces are a great way to start. Spicy Cashew, Eggplant Basil, Beef Teriyaki, along with multiple choices on the menu make it a place to continue to visit to try all of the dishes. The place is clean and modern. When we arrived to the place on a Thursday afternoon the restaurant had 4 tables full. The young lady that greeted us said we could sit ourselves. Seconds later that same young lady brought the menus. It probably took the server which was the (same young lady) about 10 minutes or so to come take our order and greet us at the table. We noticed that she was actually the only one running the whole restaurant by herself aside of the chefs cooking. She was the greeter, server, busser, runner, etc. We had order a few items. Everything was good expert my husband ordered combination fried rice and he said I would like to pay extra to add shrimp. When the food arrived the combination fried rice arrived perfect but we didn't expect for only 2 shrimps to be added when we paid extra. We did mention it to the young lady and she came back out with literally 1 shrimp in a small place that was not completely cooked. We didn't say anything to the server since we noticed she was doing all she could do with it being her the only one running the restaurant by herself . Would we come back, i don't know. The owner definitely needs to get that placed staffed correctly if they want to stay in business. I got to witness while I was there several upset customers waiting way too long as well as we did. This is our Friday night date night place. Sometimes we squeeze in a second visit if we are jonesing for more great thai food. We love this place. The pad thai is unique in a good way - the taste is out of this world. The curries are rich and flavorful. Our favorites are the massaman and green curry. We sometimes add avocado which makes it that much better. The thai ice tea is rich and done right not watery or weak. We highly recommend this location. read more
