Biggest tip: get the Korean chicken BBQ dish! We ordered two, and then ordered two more. This is a place to go with friends, order a bunch of dishes and plates, and family-style to share the dishes. You'll get a taste a bit of everything, and it makes for a fun experience. This place has so many options to choose from, and you can't go wrong with any of them! I got to try Taste while visiting South Haven with some friends, and was pleasantly surprised at the experience! I wasn't sure what to expect from the small little beach town restaurant, but was happy to see the variety on their menu! The name definitely says it all: Taste. Each thing we ordered were definitely taste sizing bites - shared amongst 4 - we got 6 items and it was not enough haha we should have gotten 2 per person at a minimum. I was a little disappointed in the Korean Chicken BBQ because there were like 3 bites of chicken total, but the flavoring was good. We tried to order the hummus but it was sent to the wrong table and our server was apologetic, but bummed to hear that the hummus we ordered was out so they would make a new chef special (it included cheddar? We ordered hummus because we wanted it to be dairy free...) so unfortunately, we did not get to try it. We also had a few servers come to our table with food multiple times that we didn't order, so it was a bit disappointing that we could have had a great experience but were left unattended and hungry. However, don't let the 3 stars fool you - I think the quality was good, just know you're getting tapa size items, and if you're hungrier, just order more. I will say though, I enjoyed the experience, just wish the service was more prompt and we could get the food we ordered in a timely manner. While, I do want to try it again to see if our experience is better next time, I think we'll have to gauge our hunger level before placing orders. I tried the green tea martini and it was wonderful. Too bad it had to be served on a plastic cup but the taste was sti fantastic! I enjoyed my martini choice tremendously. My husband had a cocktail. We shared some Korean BBQ chicken which easily became my favorite. The chicken was cooked nicely, served over a bed of rice and covered with some crunchies and green onions. We also shared a sausage over some spatzel which was also delicious, some scallops scampi, and some filet bites. Surprisingly, my least favorite were the filet bites. They weren't as flavorful as I expected them to be but my husband enjoyed them. The staff were friendly, they followed COVID protocol, required a mask for entry into their restaurant, their staff wore masks and they sanitized spaces after use. There are only about 4 outdoor tables so if you are going on a busy night, there might be a little bit of a wait but the place is totally worth it! read more

For the most part the food was good; bread and butter and seafood dip was very good but the sushi was way too much rice to filling ratio and other food was just ok. The drink were what were really lacking. We ordered a few espresso martini mock tails and were served in tall soda glasses with chocolate syrup; it was just watered down coffee with tons of ice. Honestly very difficult as people who are sober. The other martinis were very disappointing as a restaurant who specializes in them. The alcoholic espresso martini was not made as usual and had no foam and grainy coffee grounds instead of beans. Just expected more from this place. read more

We had a great time after a string of disappointing meals at other South Haven restaurants. The start of the evening was a wait. 45 minutes was the estimate which came out to 40 min and they gave us a 10 minute window to get back so we didn't have to just sit outside or risk losing the table. The Bisque was AMAZING. The spicy shrimp were average. The scallops were AMAZING. The Beet Salad was not what I was expecting at all as it's not what you would traditionally see when ordering a beet salad. Was a literal salad with beets and goat cheese on top. The flavor was still good, but would be better with less greens and served on a plate. The Phoenix roll was pretty darn good as well. Great drinks and Melinda took great care of our large party.
