Was in town visiting a friend and he brought us to this boba place and it did not disappoint. It is located in a small plaza tucked away in the middle of a row of shops so it isn't the easiest to find. But once in the plaza it's pretty easy to see and parking is sufficient but not a whole lot since it shares the same outdoor lot with other shops in the plaza. One of the things I noticed is that the store seating arrangement is quite tight. It's okay if you don't mind sitting close to other guests but I find it just a tad closer to others than I wanted. Food is amazing and came out fast. We ordered the teriyaki chicken rice and minced pork rice meals. The chicken is very tender has quite a few small side dishes including vegetables and corn. The drinks are extremely "TasteTea" too lol, you are able to customize how sweet you want it, 0-100%. Since I'm a sweet tooth I did full sweetness and it was a good choice. The container it comes in are quite sturdy and well designed m. They have stamp cards and make sure you check-in to get a free upsize upgrade! The staff is attentive and friendly. Though sometimes they aren't behind the counter, which they are probably too busy but I thought there should always be a dedicated person manning the front register. I found a new boba spot! Actually they have a lot more than boba. Those in our party ordered a green apple iced tea w/boba, almond milk tea w/boba, Thai ice smoothie w/red bean, fruit smoothie, and rose milk tea w/boba & egg pudding. The drinks were delicious! They let you customize 0% to 100% sweet, and Yelp check in gets you an upgrade to large on iced or hot tea drinks. They have free wifi, friendly staff, stamp card, take credit cards, and have plenty of seating. I liked that it wasn't too noisy and they don't have their music blasting. A family run shop that's local. It's a good place to stop by after work. They prepared food really fast it took less than 10 minutes for my order to be ready. The food pricing is pretty reasonable it was around $13 for the food tray set including 2 large pieces of fried pork chop, rice, and vegetable sides. The fried pork chop is pretty good and flavorful the only thing is I feel like it's quite fatty than what I'm used to. The Boba is expensive though, it was around $5.60 for a small 16oz boba drink. Came in 40 mins before closing and the workers were so nice and helpful!! They even mentioned a free topping with a yelp check in. They play piano music, and their drinks are yummy and cheap! I give this place a solid 3.5 stars. ATMOSPHERE It's tucked away in an old strip mall in Artesia. The complex is old and worn down, but, there are some quality shops that do business here. Taste Tea Cafe is one of them. The cafe itself has super tight seating. There's a lot of tables, but they're really close together. The cashier is not behind the counter which is really strange, but, oh well. It is what it is. The place reeked though. Upon walking in it smelled like a moldy, uncleaned public restroom. I don't know if the staff just got used to the smell or whatever, but it was pretty gross. CUSTOMER SERVICE The staff was nice. They're attentive and very quick. FOOD I got the STRAWBERRY SLUSH with boba and lychee jelly. Flavor was on point, boba was excellent and so was the jelly. I would totally order it again! We walked in after lunch right next door, hoping to get a nice cup'o tea. As a result, this review is only based on the drinks and our experience at this time of day. It was dead, some tables were being used as storage and a couple employees sat down and just chatted with each other, and ate lunch (with customers in the store). Just sort of unprofessional (even as far as tea places go). I ordered the "Formosa Black Tea" - I read in Chinese it's supposed to be the "mai shang hong cha" which is a very distinct flavor. When the tea came, it did not taste like what I was expecting based on what they called it in Chinese. I can't say I am surprised since the tea is hard to come by. I can sell them my stock of this tea from Taiwan, if they want!! (Yes, I know I should brew it myself but you know, time, place, needed it now, etc.) Hubby ordered a Hokkaido milk tea and said it was alright now. He went full sugar so I'm sure he was pretty excited about that. (Weekend goals.) It was slightly annoying that we were asked to pay in cash. No exceptions. Some guy had to run out and come back with cash a while later. Overall sort of a "meh" experience. I came with a couple of friends and we all ordered different items. My dinner companions raved about their entrees of pork chops and minced beef and LOVED it. Everything was great including the veggie sides. But the real star are the drinks. Each one is made to order so you can adjust the sweetness level. Briefly & formerly Szechuan Garden #2, Taste Tea Café is a new Chinese/Taiwanese café in the heavily saturated market area of Artesia/Cerritos. Seeing their osmanthus oolong tea, something I haven't tried before to the best of my knowledge, I made my way here a few minutes before opening on an overcast Sunday morning. Iced osmanthus oolong tea (ice on the side)- Sweetness can be adjusted to taste. The options are 100% sweet, 75% sweet, 50% sweet & 25% sweet. I made my own choice by asking for less than 25%, which came out perfect for me, as I don't care for sweet drinks. The osmanthus oolong tea was cold, refreshing & hit the spot! Reminding me of a subtle tasting jasmine tea, my drink had a nice frothy head of foam on top, almost resembling a pale ale. Coffee, tea (milk, hot, cold, blended) & caffeine free drinks are well represented on the menu. I was curious about trying the fresh lemon juice w/ honey, which will have to wait till next time. Toppings, including boba, organic chia, pudding, jellies, & red beans, are an additional 60 cents each. For something more substantial, Taste Tea Café has appetizers, noodle soup & rice dishes to choose from. Takoyaki is, surprisingly, one of the appetizers on the menu, to go along with popcorn chicken, squid balls, tea boiled eggs and the rest. All noodle soup & rice dish lunch specials come with free green or black iced tea (11am - 3pm). Service was good. The owner informed me it would take about 10 minutes for my drink to be made, as drinks are made to order & 10 minutes is the sweet spot for brewing osmanthus oolong tea. Being the first & only customer of the day thus far, I didn't have a problem with that & chatted with the owner about his new business. Seating for about 30+ people via tables and a long booth along the wall. Parking is in a private lot, at the Kariya Shabu Shabu & BBQ strip mall. Taste Tea Café is situated inbetween Szechuan Garden & an acupuncturist. Taste Tea Café is a wonderful new addition to the area. Their drinks are made with quality, cup after each cup. The osmanthus oolong tea was just what the doctor ordered, and I'm hesitating whether to order that again, go with the fresh lemon juice w/ honey or choosing another one of their enticing drinks. Not a franchise, this is a husband & wife operation who passionately runs their business. I'm new to the area, but I can definitely say that I'm making Taste Tea one of my go-to grubbing spot! Totally unsuspecting exterior and interior; when you walk in, it really looks like any other family owned Asian restaurant. A small and intimate joint, but their pleasantly classic vibes ward off some of the more common frantic, gruff feelings one might be accustomed to. I have no idea what the heck means, it sounded better in my head and honestly it's 4:43AM but I couldn't go to sleep without giving this place the 5 star review it deserves so yes it is that good. Food came out promptly, service was better than expected. My cup never went dry. Literally, it overfloweth. The nice server would always come by and refill it at the water jar even though you're supposed to do it yourself when you have two legs and can walk. They made great recommendations and cleaned up the area promptly when we began studying at the table. They also didn't say anything about my boyfriend propping his hairy legs on the booth because his legs were injured, so props to this one. Not sure if that's the most sanitary thing to say actually but I was quite touched by this gesture. Portion sizes were more than generous, and it tasted great too. AND you can get a free black tea with a meal combo! I added boba for 60 cents, and though tbh I'm not a boba connoisseur and can't tell the difference between Lollicup and Ding Tea, I have to say it was a gamechanger! (Do not get more than 75% sweetness, just a headsup!) I'm all for mom-pop Taiwanese tea cafe places, but if you're a paying customer and you're not done with your food or drinks, I don't think you should feel "pressured" to leave, especially when there's not that many customers during the day. Okay, I mean I understand that we stayed for almost 4 hours there, but we were in our little corner not bothering anyone and I was still working on my huge drink (due to the free large drink size upgrade). Anyways, I ordered the braised pork with bamboo shoots and rice. The bamboo shoots were good, but I felt the braised pork was really oily and very fatty. The first few bites of the meal were pretty savory and flavorful, but towards the end of the meal, I felt like I was eating drips of fat and oil mixed with rice. Tbh my drink was pretty decent but I can't remember if I ordered the passion fruit green tea with aloe vera or the lychee green tea with aloe vera. I usually remember my order, but maybe it's a sign that it's not a memorable place if you don't recall what you got. Prices are pretty reasonable and it's a great place to eat and catch up, but we probably "overstayed" our welcome, but still - I'm entitled to not feel pressured to leave especially when I have not finished what I ordered. Another fact that I did not like was I saw a family of 4 who came in to dine, and they asked if they could take one of the booth seats, but the server said that it is only reserved for a party of 5 or more. Since we were there for 4 hours, we saw that those booth seats were not taken for the good portion of the afternoon, so I felt bad for the family of 4 (they could have had more comfortable seating). read more

I come here quite often, sometime just for drink and sometimes for a full meal. They have improve so much on speed since their grand opening. The person behind the counter who makes all the drink is the owner. I have been ordered a lot of drink from this place and for each of the sugar level he has never made a mistake. I have tried most of their food items and there are a few I like to order and the one among the list is the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Meal and they will give you a black or green free for lunch. I remember in the beginning their meal are smaller but through out the years it become more and more. They try to pack the box full for you. The taste of their Teriyaki Chicken is great and tender. The sauce is really good that you wouldn't might pour it over the rice/. Their food quality have been pretty stable compared to others. The meat is tender and flavorful and it is got the consistency of a beef bulgogi. I in the other hand ordered thier Braised Pork plate; consist of the same sides. The Braised Pork taste like a Filipino adobo and you know that's awesome. We ordered Takoyaki as well.. oh yeah Takoyaki which is rarely serve in any cafe that I knew of. Their Takoyaki packs a lot of flavor cause they put a lot of ingredients like mayo and fried seaweeds on it. After seeing all the positive reviews decided to come here for a drink. It lived up to the hype. I'd say this place is now my ATF boba place. It has a family owned feel to it. Reminds me of one of my favorite boba places back in the days (see my review on gogo juice). This place is great place for lunch, a light dinner, or a place to chat and have snacks with friends. Usually when I go to cafes where it is centered more around food, the teas usually are mediocre at best. Surprisingly, the teas here are quite good. The milk teas do taste different here than your typical boba shops because I think they add in real milk. After getting their oolong milk tea a few times, I arrived at the decision that I do not necessarily prefer their milk teas. Their fruit teas however are quite refreshing. Minced beef and the pork stew are my favorite dishes. I do feel that the portion of their popcorn chicken got smaller. Their spicy wontons are not so spicy but just as good as any other Taiwanese place you would get them from. They do have a rewards card for their boba drinks. Woah this place was really great and exceeded my expectations! I think this is a great place to come for a quick, filling, and inexpensive lunch. The interior and seating is average, nothing too crazy there. We ordered the beef noodle soup ($8.50) and the minced pork w/ egg ($8.50). Both were great and if you're here with someone, it's a great combination to share. The beef noodle soup's broth was flavorful, and the veggies in it were super good along with the beef. The rice minced pork dish comes with rice and some vegetables on the side, which pair well. The service was great, the guy working there was very considerate and helpful. PRO TIP: If you come here for lunch, each entree comes with a free tea (either black or jasmine tea). We got one of each and added boba to ours for a small fee. This a favorite spot in Cerritos for boba drinks. They have a lot of selections of drinks and food. I love that they have cold and hot drinks, traditional teas and fruity ones. You can also change the sweetness level, which I love. I usually get their almond milk tea with 75% sweetener. I've never had a better almond milk tea, and I have tried a lot. On a hot day I'll get their peach green or black tea and it's always perfect for me, 75% sweetness also. I have only tried a few things on their food menu like the minced beef and brick toast. Their portion sizes are very generous. It makes 3 small meals for me. Brick toast is always yummy. The service is always kind and quick. I don''t think they are open inside, at least the last time I went in early October. I moved away so I'm not sure about now but whenever my sis and I visit, it's a go to multiple times a week when we're home. They also give stamp cards, 1 stamp for each drink. I never forget it. Fantastic discovery! A small and cozy cafe in a non-descript strip mall turned out to be quite the jewel and a total surprise. Their jasmine green tea is amazing and beyond delicious... I truly have not had such brilliant ice tea anywhere else, and it keeps me coming back for more. But not only is the tea fantastic, the service and the food are tops as well. Mica is a friendly and professional server who makes you feel welcome and really takes care of you and is always willing to help. The owner is also super friendly and very helpful as well.
