I don't know how to gage this, for me it was like having a sloppy Joe sandwich not bad. Being I don't card for chicken breast, I found the chick to be dry for my taste, The beef was good and tender/soft along with the bread. The egg rolls need to drain before serving, because they were greasey as was the sandwich . I don't know if cheese steak are supposed to be as messy but will have to try someplace else to find out. We learned about this spot through a FB advertisement. We went around 6pm on a Friday and it wasn't packed. We ordered two Philly cheesesteaks, fries and a corned beef egg roll. Cheesesteaks were flavorful, hot and fulfilling. Corned beef egg roll was unique and paired well with the dipping sauce. Fries were THE BOMB! Honestly the fries were the best out of everything. OMG places like this make me not want to leave town! I had the classic philly, flavorful, juicy, full of meat in every bite and didn't get soggy on my 30 minute drive home. (Maybe slightly but I didn't notice, it was so good!) I also had the corned beef eggroll which I ate while driving, comes with mustard and was big, fresh, crispy and filled with tender meat. I also got fries! I can tell they are made fresh and not from some frozen bag variety. I like the batter flavoring and the soft texture inside. Not overly salty and requires no sauce. I was in the area, had not eaten for 13 hours cause of a fasting lab I had to give at katy VA (I'm an airforce vet!) and I saw them on yelp and I didn't even look at the hours! I got there at 10am, placed my order online and called to change my time since there was a glitch on my time selection. I am patient and literally waited in my car until 12 and I'm happy I did. There are no photos because I ate most while driving, I'm a pro though, don't eat if you already can't drive! The road is the main focus. Safety first. Oh and I left a 10% tip which is easy to do online and the employee sang the Tastee Jingle because of the tip and made me SMILE!!! First, if you're not following them on IG, you should do so immediately. I absolutely love following their IG antics- and the nonexistent and unrelenting rivalry/battle with Philly for the best cheesesteak in the world. I followed them for over a year prior to trying them- mainly because we live 45 minutes away. Today was the day we finally got there. First, the owner and primary IG star is every bit as charming and adorable as he is in his videos- someone should please give him a reality tv show- I would watch. The cheesesteak is definitely worth the hype - and no, it's nothing like a philly from Philly, other than the bread. The beef is definitely much better quality than Geno's or Pat's, and no Cheez Whiz anywhere that I could see. The cheese was tastee- but unclear what it is. It appeared to be white and orange and had almost a mustardy type tinge to it- sort of tangy? Or maybe that was a sauce. Also, there was mayo on it- hidden at the bottom, which is a must on any cheese steak. I very much appreciated the option for a Little Phil - a smaller sized cheesesteak - because I wanted to try some fries too. Little Phil was tasty- and unlike any other cheesesteak I've ever had- in Philly or in Houston. I greatly appreciated the option to add my all time favorite Tabasco aka sport peppers, but was saddened they went pretty light on them- next time I'll order extra. The grilled peppers, shrooms, and onions were the right amount. The fries- I've never had anything like them anywhere. There's a breading on them that almost reminds me of a really good fried chicken batter. Just phenomenal. I got the small fries which is a tremendous bargain as it was a giant bag- I could only eat 1/4 of them! The Tastee sauce to dip them in is well worth the upcharge. All in all, it's worth the hype. And here's hoping they expand beyond Katy because we'd get to go a lot more. Oh, food takes around 30 minutes but they'll text you when it's ready, there's plenty of parking, and lots of outdoor tables- many in the shade- in front of Ritter's.
