I've been going to Tastee's Donus since the first time I went to La Verne in 2004 to meet my now-husband's family. They have a tradition of picking up a dozen of Tastee's every weekend, and I became hooked. It wasn't just that the location was convenient (the closest donut shop to their house), it's that they really are the best. A sweet family has owned the shop for several decades, and they are always busy when I've stopped by. Because I live out of state, I only go in 3-4 times a year. But they remember me and welcome me back into town each time. Now for the donuts. The cherry cruellers are the best I've ever had. Just the right amount of moistness and sponginess. The glazed twist sets the standard for all glazed donuts, and my husband downs them faster than I can imagine eating a donut. The bavarian cream filled bismarcks are also delicious. Oh man. Hi, Instead of calling this place Tastee Donut maybe they should have called it Tastee Bagels! They do have a nice selection of donuts, if you get here early enough.... get here later in the day and you run the risk of your choice being going. The have a good glazed donut and I personally like the apple fritters. I also am a bit partial to the French Curlers. But, it seems the bagels are what get the raves from my friends. The have a very tasty selection of bagels. They also make a delicious bagel sandwiches that your just have to try. They also have a fantastic cream cheese spread. We wandered in accidentally as we were waiting for the restaurant next door to open. There was an assortment of donuts, but we got a couple of glazed donuts and wow. They are so fluffy and so light. I wanted to give them five stars... but I ordered a Tuna Bagel Sandwich to go and got a Turkey. Didn't realize until I was 15 minutes away and back at my desk at work. It was, however, a yummy turkey bagel sandwich. I will be back for sure. The bagels are crispy and savory on the outside but soft on the inside. I got the jalapeno cheese and I love that it's diced jalapenos vs other places that have the coins under melted cheese. Sandwich combo (chips and a soda) came out to $7.15. You cannot beat that. I wish they had kettle chips and that would have sealed the deal. They have the chips you grew up on for lunch: doritos, fritos, and lays. read more

I can't lie, I will be bias in this review. I use to work at Tastee's Donuts and boy, are their bagel sandwiches are to die for. I remember trying all different combination of meats and bagels. No place has a sandwich that makes my mouth water just by thinking of it. Not only is their food delicious, the prices are doable. I've been coming there since I was little and of course, prices have risen, but within reason. For about $5 you can get a sandwich, bag of chips, and a medium drink (or a large drink without the chips). Besides the bagels, they have delicious donuts, croissants, scones, and muffins baked fresh every morning. The donuts are a bit pricier than other places, but for the quality, I'd be willing to shell out the additional cents. I'm glad I live close by because I still go there. As soon as I walked in, I can smell some type of cleaning chemical. The smell was overpowering. And, I doubt it was because they just finished cleaning the place, and that's why it smelled like that. I looked around, and it was not so clean. There was 2 empty tables, one was filthy and there was crumbs all over the table and on the floors. It's possible that previous to me walking in, there was another family sitting at that table. Unfortunately, not everyone cleans after themselves. If you ask me, why didn't i just leave if it was that bad...?? well, I wanted to give them benefit of the doubt. Plus, I didn't want to be rude, AND i was rushing. I had to get a few bagel sandwiches for my boys. This was the closest place open that early. I watched how they were making them. They smothered a lot of mayo all over it. According to my boys, "Not too bad". I didn't have any, so I can't complain or comment on the food. However, since I payed for it, i must say, very reasonable prices. read more

There's totally a bagel place one block away from my apartment, but I WILL drive the 10 minutes to get a Tastee's Bagel. I'm not much of a donut person (at all) ... entirely a bagel girl. Tastee's bagels are consistently delicious, and have rocked the same low prices for years! The bagel sandwiches are all great, and their black coffee's not bad either. All of their bagels taste really fresh, but my go to bagel here is the jalapeño cheese bagel with jelly and cream cheese. As for the donuts, they're really good. La Verne is full of this little treasures of food, and this is one of them. I used to bring a dozen bagels and a dozen donuts to work on special days. Everyone loved these bagels and donuts so much that I was reimbursed because the boss wanted me to pick then up before work on no so special days. The donuts AND bagels are made fresh daily, and if you have a chance to try a bagel sandwich... it's beautifully delicious. I do my best to stay away from this place during lent because it's so difficult to not get at least one donut. I highly recommend their bran muffins. I've been enjoying their sandwiches since my high school days when the Von's was still there. Same owners from before and same awesome bagel sandwiches from the good ole days. Everything bagels go fast and I never know the price of the combo special sandwich/chips/soda I feel like it always changes. I don't know what they do differently but I've been to the bagelry and many other bagel sandwich places and nothing else compares. Added bonus is the owner usually remembers faces maybe not names but he always has a nice greeting even though he always looks tired. These donuts are great & their bagels are even better. The bagel sandwich deal includes chip & a drink for like $5. It's an old shop in the back corner of a just as old shopping center but totally worth finding. For your everyday normal donuts I totally prefer these over The famous Donut Man in Glendora. Bagels are fresh & made there. the jalopeño cheese bagel is BANGING. I have never had an issue with the service. The best of the best! I've been coming here for literally as long as I can remember (my earliest recollections are about age 4 of this shop). I love their donuts- perfect fluffy with a little crisp from the glaze! Mmmm! Don't even get me started on their bagels. I dream about these bagels. I crave them now that I don't live in La Verne and I have made a 45 min drive to get my favorite bagel sandwich. If you haven't had a sandwich, just do yourself a favor and get one. They offer a wide selection of donuts, though you have to be either early or lucky to get what you want since they seem to sell out WAY before they close! The glazed donut holes and apple fritters happen to make the top of my list...though after starting weight watchers again, I'm going to have to reluctantly stick to the... BAGELS! Tons and tons of bagels! Again, show up early or you get maybe a 50/50 chance of getting what you are craving.
