Decent bagel spot that held me over for a late breakfast/early lunch after a workout. I got the bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. The eggs were fantastic and the bacon was tasty but the cheese looked and tasted like a Kraft single. Some might like that but I was expecting a different cheese quality for an $11 sandwich. Bagelry & Brew is located in La Verne and what is unique about this bagel store is that they have a drive-through which I ended up doing and getting the bagels fast. The coffee here is spectacular and what I really needed that morning. I had a turkey bagel on a jalapeno cheese bagel. This was filled with a lot of turkey but overall I like how the cheese mixed with the bagel. It was tasty and a great way to start the day! I stopped by with my husband and toddler. This is a cute spot and pretty spacious (great for the little one to walk around while we wait for our food). It kind of gives off diner vibes and I mean that in the best way. We ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel, a plain bagel with cream cheese, and a pizza bagel. Everything was satisfying and the bagel selection is solid without being overwhelming. The service really stood out. Everyone was genuinely warm and friendly, which always makes a difference. One of the staff came out while we were trying to wrangle our toddler and gave her some stickers which was so appreciated! I also ordered a coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find out they serve MUGS coffee, which felt like a fun little bonus. Easy parking, good food, good coffee, and kind people. Also, they started serving Mugs Coffee four months ago and didn't know about that until I visited today for the first time with my son. Apparently, they are waiting for their Mugs Coffee sign to arrive so they can have it exposed outside. I have been visiting this location ever since it was called Sal's Bagel and Pizza. In those days I would pop in on a Friday prior to work to grab a salt bagel, tub of cream cheese, and some orange juice. The bagel was always the star of the show. It was seasoned well, not to much salt, chewy, and not dense like those horrible store-bought bagels. Today I was under the impression that I was spending $18 dollars for the following 11.5 oz orange Juice, 8oz cream cheese, and two tasty salt bagels. However, when I arrived at work and opened the bag I was treated to 11.5 oz orange Juice, 8oz cream cheese, and two clammy to the touch (reminiscent of petting the Manta rays at Long Beach Aquarium) bagels with little to no seasoning, day old or possibly store bought due to the density. This morning we waited easily 20 minutes for coffee after paying for our order, and when we got home with our "baker's dozen" box of bagels it only contained 11 bagels. I tried calling to see if I could go back and get our other 2 bagels, but all the phone numbers posted online are apparently disconnected. I visited this wonderful place on accident after driving up to go to another restaurant. After discovering that it was closed, I came here because I didn't want to look for another place and figured seeing a good number of customers inside was a good sign. My hunch paid off. I walked in to discover it was a gaming night for a number of groups. There was one table where a game was being taught. There was another table with a pizza and a few eaten slices with a game in progress. I was greeted warmly and shared that it was my first visit. After asking what hot sandwiches were available, I decided on the meatball sub and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks hit the spot as a start, and the breading and cheese were tasty. I was pleasantly surprised at how delectable the meatball sandwich was. I wanted something cheesy since I was in the mood for French onion soup that night, but the meatballs were amazing! It's hard to go wrong at most establishments with a meatball sub, but the way the meatballs are prepared and cooked are special. I'm not sure if some pieces are grilled, but I'd definitely come back for this sandwich. It looked like there were a good number of regulars here with a few being called by name. That kind of loyalty is special. I've driven by this spot a number of times but have passed since I'm not much of a bagel person. I have just rediscovered this place and I love it! Recently I ran out of coffee at home and I was really dragging, I stopped in for a coffee and I was blown away by how good it was. I have been coming to this place for years, I think it was called sals bagels and pizza. I Usually get the same few things (bagels). But I recently had an experience that left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. I had placed a grub hub order because I've moved a city away from bagel and brew and what I received was bad service, missing items I paid for, and a 3 calls not answered. I ordered a New Yorker on "jalapeño cheese" bagel and ADD Avocado, and ADD Sprouts. I did not get that. Colleen called me from restaurant left a voicemail and said they were out of that "jalapeno cheese" bagel so I called back and they gave me option of cheddar bagel I said yes she said we can do plain I said how about egg bagel! She said ok... they gave me a cheddar bagel. HOWEVER I forgot I ordered a side bagel too with cream cheese and it was too a "jalapeño cheese" bagel. "Jalapeño cheese" is extra so I was charged for 2 jalapeño cheese bagels and sprouts and avocado and I did not get that at all. In return I received a cheddar bagel on my sandwich and an egg bagel for the price of a jalapeño cheddar bagel and a lousy refund of $0.50 cents for a jalapeño bagel, not the full price. It seemed deliberate because I ordered this exact order the other day on uber eats/Postmates and it was wrapped all nice and the bag was gracefully placed on my doorstep, but this time the sandwich was lighter and smushed and untoasted missing ingredients even after a phone call !??? She read me the order when I called to confirm my bagel choice and still messed up? I called the persons cell of Colleen and restaurant two times no call back or rings. I called from a different number and it answered. Sick. They lost a loyal customer. And found a business rival. I'm opening a bagel shop now local. I have passed by this location many times, but had never stopped until this last Sunday. They have many different flavors of bagels and they offer a few different types of bagel sandwiches. The asiago cheese bagel was perfectly made. The jalapeno cheese actually had a little kick, which was great. The blueberry bagel had little pieces of blueberries all over the bagel. They bake it like a pizza, not a cut in half, sauced, cheesed, and microwaved piece of garbage. The great pizza bagel makes sense because they also make great pizza starting at lunch! The crust is awesome and you will want some ranch to dip it in like a bread stick! Look at the bacon and bleu salad picture I posted! All fresh and tasty. Look at my grilled cheese, they give you marinara to dip it in. Someone here has done their homework! Fresh made desserts.... The bagels were delicious and we really enjoyed the jalapeño cheddar bagels, they were nice and cheesy and we ordered a mocha latte but we forgot to ask for soy milk at first, so we asked if we could change it and pay the difference but she said we have to pay for a whole new drink so we decided it was okay but she told us that she'll actually do it for us and we really appreciate that a lot. I have lived in the area for about 40 years and never tried this place. We amazed by the service and their quality of food is good. My daughter had the Grilled Triple Cheese Sandwich and tomato basil soup. My wife had tomato basil soup. I tried the So Cali pizza. I was impressed by the pizza with bacon, pepperoni, garlic, onions, and jalapeno--very good combination and will keep vampires away. I LOVE garlic. Lots of seating inside as well a a cute décor. Outside has a nice raised patio. Cleaned outside and in. But the most impressive thing about this was their service--and I am big on service. Staff spoke clearly and were easy to understand. Took time to explain the dishes. Genuinely enjoyed being there. I spoke with the manager/owner. She was very customer friendly. Now-a-days it seems like people are there not realizing the reason customers spend their money at their establishment (at least in my age bracket) SERVICE! We spent way too much, but part of that is that is that no one in my fam wants to eat the same thing. It would be nice if they had a child size lasagna so I didn't have to spent like $17 on my 10yo's meal, but on the upswing it was three meals for her in the long run.
