I love supporting independent businesses, and as I've been searching for new restaurants my heart gets so happy when I find a good one. This spot serves some of the best Asian food I've ever had. We had a craving today and went on an adventure to find something new. Chinese food is so hit or miss in the areas nearby. When we walked in to Tasty Asian Kitchen it was pretty empty, but slowly filled with families and quite a few to go orders. Our server was wonderful and greeted us right away. So people complained of service here in other reviews, but we had no problem our entire time here. The menu has so many great options and it was hard to choose. We settled on a pu pu platter and the happy family which we would share. The only thing I didn't care for was the fried wonton out of the pu pu platter. The happy family portion was huge and more than enough for two. Rice portion was a bit small but we made it work. They only offer bottled soda here, some alcohol options as well as so teas. Prices were fair for size. Parking was a breeze. With easy ins and pits to the street and parking plenty of parking nearby. read more

I moved from the east coast and if you know anything about the east coast there's good seafood and good Chinese food. I've been searching for anything remotely equivalent and this hits the spot. Huge portion sizes, amazing staff who were extremely helpful and polite. Everything came out quickly. The vibe is very calm clean restaurant and they even box your meal for you at the end so you have extra time to think of how much you want to tip for the excellent experience! You know, I was pleasantly surprised. The place doesn't look like much on the outside. Just a bunch of faded posters in the windows. The storefront doesn't do them justice. It is obvious that they are a small mom & pop, which I really love to give a go. On this day, my wife was out of town, so I thought I would stock up on some really good leftovers. Their menu is complete with all of my Chinese favorites. Because I had never been to this restaurant, I wanted to gauge it by trying a little bit of everything! And I did! The really nice lady at the front thought I was crazy! So, lets see, let's start with the pot stickers, go with some sweet and sour pork, honey walnut prawns, Mongolian Beef, Egg Foo Young and throw in some house noodles. There, that should do it. Well, the lady brought out a big box of food. It was obvious that these were no small servings! Yikes, what did I do? I moved from a city on the west coast with really good Asian. An honestly, for the most part, many phoenix Asian restaurants just don't compare. The nice lady at the front told me that their food was really good, so I'm ready to eat! And I have a lot to eat! There is a Chinese restaurant near me at Dysart and Indian school that I really don't care too much for, so I know I will be comparing this food to that. So, on to the food. To me it was a solid 4 out of 5 which is really good for this area. The pot stickers were pretty good, better than I had previously had. The honey walnut prawns were my favorite and as good as any I had, a real must try. Let's see, the Mongolian beef, sweet & sour pork really measured up and the house Lo Mein noodles with beef, shrimp & chicken rounded it all out. It all was very good. Tasty Asian is a nice little gem, that is really kind of hidden from public view. While there I noticed a few people pop in and out to pick up their to-go orders. The food is superb! I have had the Pork Buns and the Chicken Moo Shu and both were savory sweet and sublime! I will say I've never had a restaurant pre-assemble my Moo Shu but I'll be completely honest, I appreciate it. It's a lot less messy having it pre made and allows the chef to control the perfect proportion of fillings to pancake. The staff is also very warm and welcoming. They felt like you were coming over for a visit. They interact well with the regulars which from my experience seems to make up most of the clientele. It's always a good sign to see so many regulars at any establishment. Also the lights are kept low and warm making the vibe of the restaurant very relaxing. I feel at ease with the beautiful decor and comfortable layout. I highly recommend it as it lives up to its name! This is one of those places that it probably depends on what your order. We are out of towners that have an amazing Chinese food place back home and this just wasn't it. It's really a 1 star, for me, and only because the Sun Devil Chicken was spicy, the way I like it. The War Wonton soup was bland with thickly wrapped wontons (I had mine without mushrooms carrots or celery), the zucchini wasn't cooked at all. Not good. Ordered take out over the phone, general Tao's chicken, house fried rice, and egg drop soup. No mention on the menu that there would be shrimp in the hot and sour soup. No offense, I didn't order Chinese food in Phoenix for fish. Soup was decent minus the shrimp. The house fried rice might have been refried twice, the chicken and beef was very rubbery in texture. This business is operating only on call ahead pick up orders to go or come on in and place an order to go right at the location. Indoor seating is not in use at this time. Setvice is always super friendly with a smile. The food is hit or miss. Most of the time pretty tasty. Other times soggy or lacking flavor. They would be so much better if they were more consistent. First time visiting this location. Stopped in for take out. The inside of the restaurant is very dark and not so welcoming. The food was ok, the chicken Lo mein is a little bland. But I enjoyed the spicy moogoogai pan. You really can't beat their lunch or dinner prices for the combination plates. I will come back and try other items on the menu. read more
