I'm leaving this review because some of the one‑star ratings for East Asian simply aren't justified based on the comments people wrote. A true one‑star experience is foreign objects in the food, cold meals, or no service at all -- and that's not what I experienced. I ordered takeout, and when I got home the food was still hot. I had the shrimp egg foo young and BBQ pork fried rice. The egg foo young was excellent, and the portion size of the fried rice -- along with the amount of BBQ pork -- was generous. This is easily a solid four‑star experience, maybe higher depending on what you order. I've lived on the west side for years, and I still haven't found a better Chinese takeout spot in the area. I've been coming to Eest Asian Bistro for many years now. It is not my go to spot, but it has scratched the itch for either fried rice or egg foo young during the time I've been coming. I couldn't tell you the timeframe of when the current ownership took it over from the previous owner when I first started frequenting Eest. The change was immediately felt. The level of customer care and taste of food changed. Not for the worst, but different. My last visit this month for an order of shrimp fried rice was my final straw and I will find somewhere else to find some food. It has been a very slow spiral downward with the quality of food. I am talking years where the consistency was slipping. Then last month it was as if they forgot what they were doing. What was served to me was edible, but nowhere near what I have been given in the past. I hope it was a bad day for the kitchen for the establishment's sake! We were the only customers in the restaurant, yet the employees were all on their phones instead of paying attention to their guests. After we finished eating, we sat there for about 10 minutes just waiting for someone to bring us our check. No one ever came to check on us during our meal or asked if we needed anything. Because the service was so poor, I chose not to leave a tip. To make matters worse, when I checked my bank statement later, I saw that I had been charged more than the amount I authorized. It appears they added themselves a tip without my permission. I would strongly recommend checking your receipt and bank statement if you eat here. This is our go-to Chinese take out in the west valley. We usually get the general tsao's chicken, shrimp chow mein, mushu chicken, and rotate another dish to try. Have not been disappointed yet! The couple who runs the store are kind, and get the food to you decently fast. If you do sit-in for the meal, they have a calming and intimate setting that helps cool you off from the heat. One order of each is enough to feed 3 people easily. The fried rice has a really nice smokeyness to it that makes it stand out from many others I've had. My friends and I went to Eest Asian Bistro for dinner a couple weeks ago while craving Chinese food. While the experience was mainly positive, the food fell short in some areas. Pros: The portions are massive and could easily be shared family style. One entree feeds 2-3 people, especially if you get rice or noodles on the side. The fried rice was our favorite dish. I know that sounds basic, but hear me out; the rest of this review somewhat explains this. Our second favorite dish was the egg drop soup - also very good. Cons: The combos come with steamed rice. If you want to upgrade to fried rice it's an additional charge. This is on top of the additional charge you're already paying to make it a combo. So now you've got a $20 entree. Most of the entrees we tried were lackluster in their appearance and taste. The Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce was a different take on shredded pork than I was expecting. It was actually strips of pork. And there weren't many pieces, it was mainly veggies. The Szechuan Beef tasted good but was too heavily battered. Most of the beef chunks were all batter, barely any meat. The Vegetable Chow Mein was alright, but we all agreed was too heavily sauced so became soggy. Our first visit was a success! This place is in a strip mall and you just might miss it if you're not paying attention. Got a friendly hello when we entered and the immediate smell of Asian food made my mouth water. We ordered wonton and hot & sour soup to start. Both were hot, flavorful and delicious. The S&S chicken was my personal favorite but the Mongolian beef and lo mein noodles were also very tasty. The portions were HUGE. We have enough for two more meals (each) which is a treat. Average meal was under $15 which for the amount and quality is a great deal. Despite only having one lady serving all the tables, the service was great! Love that she boxed our to go for us. No need for a reservation here. Very large open dining area with tons of seating. Steady flow of guests coming in during our hour stay but not overly busy for a Saturday night. We stopped in for a family dinner with my In-laws, first I must say a strip mall restaurant doesn't usually get high marks but I have to say, don't judge a book by it's cover! Slowly, the place began to fill up with customers. We were offered water and drinks and free fried wonton strips with sweet and sour sauce (which was a nice little snack!) The menu is expansive! There is so much to choose from, some traditional Chinese food and some items I hadn't seen before with lamb and beef options. I ordered the mushroom chicken and the shrimp egg rolls. The food took a little while to come out, but it was WORTH the wait. The egg rolls were steaming hot and fresh, so crispy and delicious. Not your standard frozen egg rolls, crisp veggies and overall just super good. The mushroom chicken came with 3 kinds of mushrooms in a light clear sauce. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. The fried rice was so good! It tasted more hibachi style fried rice and I couldn't get enough of it. The 8 fried shrimp were a bit to battered for my liking, but still ok. My husband had the general Tso's Chicken Lunch Special with extra $ for fried rice. Even asking having it in writing thru grub hub'spicy please' it wasn't, but he gave it an ok. I had the shrimp with green beans, it was flavorful and I'd try it again, but it was light on shrimp (5).
