We dined in this time and I must say that the restaurant is pretty decent. It is clean and well decorated. There were quite a few others in the restaurant as well, so people must like the place. Most of the food was okay this time, but there were several dishes the were not authentic and frankly, not so good. First, the spring roll. It was twice the size that it should have been because it was overstuffed with lettuce. Also, the few shrimp that were visible through the wrapper, were sliced in half where they appeared to be whole. Next, I ordered the Thai Pork BBQ. There was nothing Thai about them. They were slow cooked pork strips with American BBQ sauce. No hint of Asian flavors. I didn't care for them at all. Came to this location starving after we spent the day at the Litchfield zoo and was pleasantly surprised by the AMAZING service and cozy food! It's a hidden jewel. The server did everything from cashiering, to to go orders, filling waters, and she was so friendly and on top of things, high props to her for handling everything on a busy weekend night. As for the food, the portions are generous though they are a little on the pricier side. Pad Thai was great and you can customize the spice. I'm someone who can't handle Hot Cheetos but I didn't really taste the spice on the level 1, so I'd recommend a level 2 if you want to taste a little bit/mild. They do give you a spice rack of chili oil, fish oil etc that you can add for some added punch. Level 4 had my husband crying haha, the spice builds. Wonton soup was also super cozy, tasted nice and healthy with vegetables and not just wontons. A well-rounded meal. The Thai iced tea was super strong and sweet, just the way I love it! I'd recommend this nice restaurant to anyone in the area. The food doesn't make you feel gross afterwards, it actually tastes quite healthy and wholesome, not oily. I always love going to this little family run, hidden gem. Per usual, the Tom kha soup is phenomenal just don't care for the shrimp they use these days. We ordered appetizers and three entrees from this establishment- Chicken fried rice, Pad See Ew with beef, and stir fry with cashew and chicken. We ordered mild spice level because we had children eating as well. This was the blandest, driest Thai food we've ever had.The fried rice was definitely not fried. About half of the time I order from this place, my order is wrong. Things will happen like I'll pay for the mixed seafood but get chicken (or just fish). Or peanuts will be on the order when it was specifically asked for no peanuts, etc. The food tastes just alright, about average for Thai restaurants, but the price is high. I've only ordered takeout, however, so I can't comment about the inside of the restaurant. But it's now been 4 orders in a row where our order has been wrong so my family and I are done ordering here. First time trying this place and I will 100% be back! I always order Pad Thai as a first timer and I must say their Pad Thai was fantastic compared to surrounding restaurants in the area. It was very saucy, not mushy or sweet and the flavor was great! I ordered hot but I deff could have done Thai hot. The spice was not overwhelming just a slight tingle. The Thai sausage is a bit sour not sweet like Laos sausage (which is what I prefer and was hoping for) -- my daughter still enjoyed the Thai sausage very much. I really would've love some jeow len (tomato hot sauce) or even the Thai chili fish sauce served with this dish instead of the Lettuce, ginger, and peanuts. We ordered the fried wontons that didn't seem so fresh, the wrapper did not have that fresh crisp to it but it may be because we ordered this togo. The sticky rice was fine. Their papaya salad is the best. Make sure to get mild bc the medium is too spicy. Not complaining but just a warning. Their servers and host are super friendly and helpful. We always do take out but the atmosphere in this place is great for a nice quiet meal. Their Tom Kha Kai soup is my favorite, the sourness of the lime, lemongrass, and creamy coconut milk combo is what makes this exotic soup so delicious. Papaya salad is a must have with our meal. Heed my warning... When they say Thai Spicy, they mean Thai SPICY! The noodles were great! Chicken was moist veggies were fresh and sauce was fire! When the heat subsided the flavor was on point with the ones I have had in CA in the past and I was happy with the peppers and big flat noodles! The pad see ew was good as well. Sauce was lacking a little, but the overall flavor was there. Portions were big and filling! I had leftovers of both for lunch after the wife and I couldn't finish our dishes. The shrimp rolls are great. They look like little cigars with a piece of shrimp wrapped up and rolled right and deep fried. A nice way to cut heat and a good texture crunch! The service was great. The food is NOT good, very disappointing. I don't understand how this place received such good reviews. My son and I dined here the other day. The place was empty, during lunch rush hours. But we were greeted cheerfully by the only person there hostess/sever/cashier. We ordered Chicken Panang curry and Seafood TomYum soup. The Panang was way too thick and the seafood in the TomYum soup overpowered the broth. Seafood must not be fresh. Also I understand Thai/Laos language and I was there with my African American husband and mixed daughters and the staff(all of them) made constant racist remarks towards myself, my husband and our daughter, stating our daughter is going to be wild because her father is black, and why would I being so pretty go for the lowest type of man, I probably have something wrong with me. Today, was the first time that I've eaten in for lunch in over a year. And, for the 1st time, I had Japanese beer with Thai food. For my lunch, I went with the #1 Lunch Special of Karkow Chicken, with rice which includes a wonton, spring roll and egg drop soup.. I found the soup to be quite hot, and was very tasty, and without having to add any pepper to it. The wonton was nice and crisp. The spring roll was a bit different. But, still very good. The entree itself is plentiful, with enough left over for dinner tonight. 8-) Everything was delicious. And, while I prefer Singha over the Kirin, Kirin Japanese beer is better than Chang's Thai beer. And, with the closing of my favorite burger place for the summer, I'll be going here more often. When I got there, only 3 other people were there. But, by the time I got ready to leave, 12 more people had arrived. Have taken my family and friends to this restaurant also. Super quick service is always a winner. The door you walk in is weird because it looks like the bar area is the hostess area but you actually walk further in to get to the hostess so we stood for a few minutes.
