It was Sunday and decided to try this place out for dinner. My dad was in town for the weekend and this was close to my place. I think it was almost closing time since there were only two people there. We chose our table and sat down. The waitress was nice but seemed really nervous for some reason. There were three specials for Sundays: $6 for all curry (red, yellow, green, panang), the seafood on the menu would be $9.99, and the soups would be cheaper (I forgot by how much). The noodle soup menu was a little confusing and we talked to the manager about it so maybe that will be fixed in the future. We ordered Red Curry Chicken (medium spicy level), Spicy Basil Leaves Chicken (medium spicy level), Pad Thai with Shrimp (mild spicy level), and the Seafood Noodle Soup. I believe there were 5 or so spicy levels: no spicy, mild, medium, hot, Thai hot. The spiciest level would probably be like true Thai hot. Our food came out shortly after. The Red Curry Chicken was good but I think our waitress might have made that one mild spicy level. The Spicy Basil Leaves Chicken was pretty spicy even for a medium, but it was still very tasty. I didn't like the Pad Thai because it was bland. The Red Curry Chicken and the Spicy Basil Leaves Chicken made up for the Pad Thai. It was a good thing we ordered different things. Each entree was enough for one person (portion-wise) and might be enough to make someone full (the just-right full). I didn't eat any of the Seafood Noodle Soup so I can't comment on that. Ambiance would be helped with tablecloths. Tables old and finish is sparse. Now to the good and important stuff, the food. I was alone so the review is limited. I had Pad Thai, no meat. Very good, in 81 years I have had only one as good/better. Lunch portion came with the best clear broth I have ever tasted! About 1/4th of the cup were the finest/thinnest noodles I have ever seen and the remaining visible ingredient was a nicely chopped green onion. Absolutely perfect soup. Meal was accompanied with an egg roll, small but ok. Nothing different than many other oriental places. Great food and service! Super large portions and you have to get the crab rangoon! I was definitely impressed.

So delicious and HUGE portions! The entrees are definitely shareable, or more than enough for one meal. I recently tried the Chicken Pad Thai and it was wonderful. Great option for carry-out food. The worst experience ever of course due to Covid 19 you have some understanding but this experience has been totally ridiculous. Called in order it was made incorrect told server remade after waiting forever get home order still wrong so we called. Best Thai restaurant in the Northland! Very impressed with this place even after all these years, it's never gone down on the quality of the food. Our latest venture was on a Wednesday night, which is their $5 Fried Rice special night! (They have a special for each day and we were lucky to come on a good day hehe) We got 3 dishes that night, but don't let the number fool you...they were 3 very big dishes for a pretty decent price! So make sure you come hungry if you come dine here. First up we have the Thai Fried Rice: consists of stir fried Jasmine rice with egg, carrots, onions, and tomatoes. We added chicken to our fried rice for $1 more. I was disappointed at first that they didn't have crab fried rice, which my usual go-to at Thai restaurants, but this fried rice dish was pretty good. It was a little on wet side and I usually like my fried rice drier. It was seasoned pretty well though and the chicken was soft and tender. ($5 on Wednesdays) Thai Buffalo Wings: Chicken wings deep fried and coated in sweet Thai chili sauce. THIS WAS BOMB. I could eat this all day long. Just give me a side of white jasmine rice and the wings and I would be set for life. They were sweet, tender, with a slight crisp and a lil kick of spice. DELICIOUS. Please do your taste buds a favor and get these wings from heaven. Nuff said. ($7.95) Spicy Eggplant with Shrimp: Spicy Thai peppers stir fried eggplant, chili peppers, onion, bell peppers, and fresh basil leaves. The eggplants were soft and juice. Loved the sauce. It was savory but sweet at the same time. Not slimy or too heavy. Definitely need to eat it with rice and can't eat by itself. If it wasn't for the soggy-ish rice...I would've given it 5 stars! haha I feel bad for being nit-picky, but it really was not something I was expecting for fried rice. I was expecting wet rice if I would've gotten the curry rice, but not from the regular one. My apologies to the restaurant if wet fried rice is authentic for Thai cuisine. The curbside service was exceptional and much appreciated. The other day we picked up an order and because it was slightly different from frequent past orders, they were gracious enough to ask about it calling our son by name and offering to correct our order at no cost. They were all very flavorful; we didn't need to add any salt or soy sauce, which is saying something for my husband who usually salts his meal before he even tastes it. I was extremely impressed with Tasty Thai. My wife and I got take out from this (new?) location since it is closer to where we live then the other one. Having gotten take out only, I can not yet speak to what it is like to dine in. However, I hope to update this soon with that info. I called in our to-go order, two orders of pad thai, classic. I got there to pick it up a little early and had to wait, not their fault. While I was waiting they were very kind and kept me updated on how much longer my order had to cook. I appreciated this rather than being left in the dark. The interior space was very nice. Small, but organized with plenty of tables and typical thai decor. The tables where set with nice flatware. The lighting was dim, slightly more than I would enjoy personally, but it really set a relaxed and homey mood in the restaurant. When we got home and finally cracked open our containers of pad thai I could not have been more pleased. The look and the taste was everything I expect of great thai food. It was without a doubt in my top 3 thai meals ever, and I ate it in my living room. The best thing about Tasty Thai, and the thing that really earns it 5 stars in my books, is their daily specials. I have posted a picture which lists them out, but they are simply incredible. Just as an example, we got take out on a Tuesday. Tuesdays at Tasty Thai are "Pad Thai Tuesdays". Need I say more? Probably not, but I will anyway. On Tuesdays, the deal is that if you buy one order of pad thai at regular price then you can get a second order for $1. That is exactly what we did. My wife got chicken pad thai, and I got a combo of chicken and shrimp (which was a $2 up charge). Because we got it to-go (which it is surprising that they honor their specials for take out and not dine in only) we did not have to pay for drinks or a tip. Our total was $13 and some change for two massive orders of delicious pad thai. If you want to try this place, then I suggest you look online and see what you want to try, then check their specials, and then plan to go when you can take advantage of their great deals. Don't let the location turn you off. I first thought this was a carry out/fast foody kind of place since it it located in a tiny store front in a strip mall. That couldn't be further from the truth! The inside is nicely lit and painted a warm color with wood accents. They jam in a lot of tables to the small area, but it just makes it feel more intimate. Our server was attentive and funny, providing us with insight into the dishes we had questions about. My boyfriends steamed noodle dish was mild but tasty and my red curry was excellent! Lots of tofu and veggies. The food was high quality, and the portions were large for the price. I'll definitely be back. But beware that a long wait is possible on busy nights due again to rather small dining room. Carry out (either call ahead or order when you arrive) seemed to be a popular option too! The menus contain a wide selection of veggie and meat options on par with other Thai places, but the personal touches were really nice. Wasn't feeling too good so I thought I would stop in for some soup. It was almost 8pm and it was actually pretty busy when I first walked in. I've been here many times and have never seen all the tables filled like this. It took a minute to be seated. I absolutely love the food here. I can't think of anything that I haven't liked. I always try and order something different. The noodle soups are delicious as are the spring rolls, kha nom jeep, poo thong and crab fried rice. The restaurant is cozy and dark. The tables are always clean and staff is always very welcoming. It took the girls longer than normal to take my order. I blame it on the curse of dining alone. It took about 10 minutes for some one to take my order. I got my meal before my appetizer. I had a full glass of water and was asked if I needed a refill on my water? I was impressed with the food here! The service was bad when I first walked in; however, it got much better throughout my visit. I ordered a spicy rice noodle dish that I forgot the name of (my bad)... It was incredible! I will eat here again and try other dishes. This was one on my favorite local Thai restaurants. However, the last couple times I've patronized Tasty Thai have been increasingly disappointing. I came for the Friday night seafood special ("all seafood dishes $9.99, no exclusions") and ordered spring rolls & seafood pad Thai, as well as their sticky rice/flan dessert. The spring rolls were fantastic, & fresh. Their peanut sauce is always tasty. The pad Thai arrived as I finished my rolls, and was on the lower end of "hot" on the spicy spectrum. Not to worry, they brought out their basic 2-condiment spice tray (simply dried red pepper and chili paste...a far cry from the usual spice tray quartet found in most establishments). Though the sauce was fine, the dish was overladen with it. Also, it had a grand total of 4 shrimp in it (keep in mind I ordered it w/ shrimp and scallops only...the scallops were the tiny, chewy kind and there were more of those). The kickers: * Server brought out a to-go box maybe 10 min into my meal. Felt pushed. She was busy with her kids and I guess her mom walked in too; they were more concerned with eating ice cream behind the counter. * The hostess overcharged me; the service was almost like I was a side note (there was only one other table of customers there)...the server fixed the charges...sort of. I was still overcharged by a dollar and finally just figured if they're that desperate for the extra, I'll give it to them. * When my to-go dessert came out the hostess handed me yet ANOTHER bill (after not apologizing for grossly overcharging me), and I told her I already paid. She just looked at me and said "sticky rice?" I said "uh huh. Please talk to the server." And she ran over to the server and scoured their records on-screen. The hostess then looked over at me and *dismissed* me as I gathered my things. What I WANTED to say was, "you are working at an establishment that operates with a daily special. Each day of the week is always the same special. Please re-study the menu and know what you're supposed to be doing if you must handle our monies." I gave a star for good spring rolls, and a star for being present and serving a hot dish without a major catastr. Needless to say, KC is quickly gaining momentum with plenty of other fabulous restaurants who are willing to compete with good quality EVERYthing, so I'm off to better and tastier adventures. read more

My mom and I come here often. She is a huge fan of their pad Thai. It is very good. I have tried many dishes and they have all been amazing. Their Panang curry is my favorite. It is the best and nowhere else makes it quite like they do. It is a little thinner than other places but that's why I like it. I had the shrimp Tom Kar soup today and it was great. The only thing I didn't care for was the undercooked peppers. They were a little too crisp for my taste but I just picked some out. The broth and mushrooms were perfect though. I also am a fan of the Thai spring rolls. They put slightly too much lettuce in my opinion but I suppose it makes them look bigger. I would be happy with a smaller roll and less lettuce. I prefer the Prairie view location but this one is closest to my mom's house so we usually go here. read more
