I am glad that Tasty Thai opened a second location that's much nicer in appearance than their original spot. This place is where I go for some good authentic Thai food in the Northland. Tasty Thai has good options for vegetarians and can substitute tofu for meat even if not listed on the menu. Every item I've tried so far has been flavorful and made to the spiciness level that you request. Just a note, if you ask for hot, they really do make it HOT! I've had the vegetable soup, green curry, pad ki mao, and spicy eggplant all with tofu. The service is also friendly and attentive. If I were to choose between Thai Place or Tasty Thai, I'd go with Tasty Thai in a heartbeat. The prices are much more affordable. read more

Unfortunately, this is my home thai place. Of all the millions of thai restaurants in the world, this is the one closest to my house. We've given it lots of chances and it has almost always disappointed. It's so convenient that as of this moment, I'm even the Yelp Duke. The entire family agrees though - it's just not worth it anymore. First, the servers have always been friendly (unless it's who I think is the owner - she seems to be completely uninterested in speaking to customers). The fried tofu is exactly what I think most people imagine fried tofu would be like. Pretty much tasteless. Everything else on the menu, and together we've tried most things - is pretty unimpressive. Rice dishes and noodle dishes are sweet, like there's some sort of sugary something in the sauce, I don't get it. It's always there but sometimes it's so sweet that it seems to be a mistake. Great little location in a strip mall in Liberty. My wife and I were impressed by our visit. Before my wife, I never had any interest in trying Thai food. After bringing me along to other Thai restaurants, I got used to some of it and could find some things on the menu that this picky eater would eat. I have since found a few things I can handle. This visit to the Liberty location had us both getting our usuals. Opening with the Poo Thong, a treat similar to, but still different from, crab rangoon. I ordered the lunch special of Tiger Cry Beef with Steamed rice. This meal also included a choice of egg roll or pot sticker. I took the egg roll, with the full intention of giving it to my wife. My wife ordered her chicken pad thai with a pot sticker, just to try it out. The food came out very fast. They started us with a homemade chicken noodle soup, which my wife didn't care for, but I liked. Then the Poo Thong came out and less than 5 minutes later, the entrees. While the pot sticker was good, my wife liked the egg roll more. She said her pad thai was very good, better than the Tasty Thai location closer to us. The Tiger Cry Beef is good without the ultra spicy dipping sauce they give you, but that Tiger Cry sauce must be a favorite because they sell it bottled. For giggles, I did try the beef with some of the sweeter dipping sauce for the Poo Thong. It was tasty. In our opinion, the Liberty location is better than the Prairie View Road spot. While we are living in the northland, this will probably be our spot for Thai. read more

So glad they added a Tasty Thai to the Liberty area! The location is better than the original, but still nestled in a strip mall. The food is wonderful and has lots of options for vegetarians, yet even pleased an avid steak eater in my party. You can sub any meat for tofu and also specify how hot you want your dish which I greatly appreciate. The inside decor is also nice, although the alternative music they had playing while we were having dinner was a bit odd... All in all, the food was delicious enough to have boxed up even though I had 1/6 of a serving left. Will definitely be back to try more options on the extensive menu... read more

Ate here today with family - there were 7 of us, and the service got off to a slow start, but then 'kicked in'. :) The food all the way around was quite good - not 5 star, but a solid 3.5 (so I rounded up). I had chili chicken, and there were 2 Pad Thai orders, chicken fried rice, and I'm not sure what my Aunt got (something vegetarian). The Spring Rolls were VERY good, and the Poo Thong was GREAT. So the people who served us were lovely but this food is the furthest from authentic Thai food that I've ever had. Their pad Thai was made with some bizarre reddish sauce...transforming it into a saucy bowl of tangy noodles. Clearly no wok was used in the preparation and the flavors were all wrong. Great place to eat, and great on your family if you have allergies to gluten or dairy because they use coconut milk and rice noodles almost exclusively. The best things they have are the Spring Rolls, the Pad Ki Mao and the Traditional Pad Thai. The only thing I have to complain about that I don't get with other Thai restaurants is that the spicy/heat taste in the food is inconsistent. I like moderately spicy food. I've tried ordering medium and gotten the exact right amount of spice, too spicy and no spice. I've ordered Mild and gotten too spicy and no spice. It is in our neck of the woods--loved the food, service was quick and terribly funny--owners son--great recommendations--honest about his opinion. We had the spring rolls, egg rolls, and I had the satay chicken for dinner--my honey had a wonderful beef dish in coconut milk--sorry the name escapes me now. Very rich and tasty. Noodles: I don't like a lot of taste too sweet; sour soup: slightly sour but not hot enough; beef: not sour, not spicy enough; fried rice: good, slightly sweet . General'S chicken : There are too many sauces, so there is no crispy taste. Eggplant: too much meat feels like a little bit of eggplant; fried spring rolls: not bad but the price is too high, only two spring rolls have no other ingredients. What I most mind is that we are three adults and two children are 11 years old and 4 years old. When I received the bill, already written 18% service fee, which makes us feel bad, please The owner of the store pays attention to this problem. This is the common problem in the service industry. It is reasonable eat and tip. It is not mandatory. It is necessary for the customer to give a tip to meet the staff. This will only be a vicious circle. read more

Tasting Thai rarely disappoints. The food is so delicious and the portions are generous. Only downside is the table-side service is a little slow when you dine in, but it's not so bad to negatively impact the overall experience. We prefer the pick-up option so we can enjoy the food at home! read more

After trying sushi all over town, Hubby and I wanted to try something a little different. Tasty Thai it was! We ordered the spring rolls and they didn't disappoint. The peanut sauce was great. Hubby kept saying he thought it was Nutella. LMBO He ordered seafood pad thai and I ordered Hawaiian fried rice with chicken. It was good (tentatively good) , but we wouldn't order either again. His squid was overcooked and my combo of raisins, cashews, pineapple, and chicken sounded better on paper than it tasted in my mouth. I wish there had been soy sauce or something on the table. It wasn't serious enough for me to bother the waitress, but it would have been nice to have a condiment readily available. We said we'd go back and try other things. Time will tell if we forgo a fave like Kato or our other choice that night, Malay Cafe, to try Tasty Thai again soon. read more

I've only had their Pad Kee Mao (twice) and their Pad See Ew but they were both delicious and flavorful! First time I got mild-to-medium and it was pretty spicy, nose running and everything, so I stuck to mild this time. I preface this review by saying that I have been ruined... spoiled... biased... by the thai food I've enjoyed in Chicago for the past year. But alas, I had to find another place offering noodle-y goodness back in good ol' KC. We had a groupon for Tasty Thai and were ecstatic to try this little place out. The food was fresh and came quickly (we arrived at about 5:00 on a week night). It's a small place which fills quickly after about 6:00. I enjoyed some glass noodles with chicken and veggies. The rest of my table enjoyed Pad Thai which they enjoyed a lot. The only sad part was that a good portion of my noodles were crunchy/hard and the ratio of noodles to veggies/chicken left a lot of noodles with no friends. I will definitely go back however as this is the closest thing to my beloved Cozy Noodles of Chicago here in KC. read more

I had Pad Kee Mao, Thai Basil stir fried beef, fried dumplings thai style, thai beef jerky (really really good with sticky rice), spicy shrimp, and sticky rice. The place use authentic ingredients like real thai basil and thai chili. They even used palm sugar for sticky rice instead of white sugar which made it taste that much better (a lot more "umami"). read more

Super delicious and authentic. While my pad thai needed a little bit more stuff for authenticity like peanuts and bean sprouts, the flavor was actually pretty good and the texture was on point! Definitely knows how to make good pad thai. This is usually how I judge a Thai restaurant. I tried my friends Tom Yum soup and it was also legit. I usually don't like Tom Yum, but this soup I really enjoyed. I love that they have specials everyday. I went on a Tuesday so I got a buy on get one pad thai for $1. Super worth it! Quite Good We tried Tasty Thai in Liberty last week. Based on the store front we were not too sure about this choice, however the place was hopping and filled with people, which is a good sign the food is good. The food was really good. We had the Red Curry and the Pad Thai, and both were excellent. Given the crowd and there were only two servers the service was friendly and pretty efficient. If she would have checked on us and refilled the drinks one time that would have been great. Plenty of food for a reasonable price. I love the Tasty Thai over near I-29. I live closer to Liberty and thought "Great! It's closer!" I ordered the Tom Yum soup and the Hawaiian Fried Rice. Fried rice was fantastic as usual. The soup, not so much. I think someone got something mixed up because I got a coconut based broth that's in the Tom Kar soup and it wasn't very good.
